Kimberly Akimbo's Alli Mauzey Performs "Father Time"

Alli Mauzey portrays Pattie Levaco in the original Broadway cast of ‪@akimbomusical‬. She visited the Playbill Studio to perform "Father Time," a mother's desperate and "heartbreaking" plea to not lose her daughter yet. Watch Mauzey's performance above.
Kimberly Akimbo officially opened at Broadway's Booth Theatre November 10. The new musical features a book and lyrics by Pulitzer Prize winner David Lindsay-Abaire (based on his play of the same name), music by Tony winner Jeanine Tesori, and direction by Jessica Stone. It tells the story of a bright New Jersey teenager named Kimberly who has a disease that makes her body age over four times the normal rate, giving her the fragile body of an elderly woman. Mauzey plays Pattie, Kimberly's mom.

The transformation of Alli's expression through the song is really nuanced and sublime. Starting from a gentle, sweet lullaby, singing to her child who is coming, and then turning into an emotional plea for more time, singing about her daughter who is slipping away. Truly moving and gets me every time in the theatre and online.

This song makes me weep every time I hear it, I wish she would have gotten Tony nominated for this role. This is my favorite song on the cast album by far. It just breaks my heart to hear her go from a small plea to a belty and hopeless ballad. Ali Mauzey is such an AMAZING performer.
