Tesori is arguably the most versatile composer working in musical theatre today. Her body of work is astonishing in its variety and quality. Fun Home is a masterpiece and Kimberly Akimbo, possibly also a masterwork, is the best show currently playing on Broadway.

I don't think I've heard of anyone else who is this prolific in their abilities and actually was hired and been successful as all three: conductor, arranger, composer, maybe Marvin Hamlisch...also pianist. Just crazy crazy crazy imaginative, talented, learned.

I didn't even know who this woman was and then I saw "Kimberly" and was immediately smitten. The variety of music in this one show is just incredible and so I started listening to her other works. What an astounding talent! A true musician can write in any genre, it's what makes a great musician great and Tesori has got my eye and my ears on high alert.
I'm off to see if I can find any videos of her performing. Fingers crossed!

SOFT POWER was so awesome. I wish it was included here even if it hasn't made it to Broadway YET.

Love, love, love Jeanine Tesori. For me, she is right behind Stephen Sondheim in terms of how her music enters and occupies my soul. I love to watch interviews where she talks about her work and her process. I love her commitment to collaboration, her humor, her sense of self outside of all the success and accolades she's received. People are important to her, it's very clear. I want her for a friend.

She reminds me of both Janet McTier and Karen Mason, very regal, formidable woman. What an intelligent woman. I cannot even fathom being able to envision and have the imagination to both write vocal arrangements, write score, conduct, everything.

What a hero! This is wonderful. Haha -- "tried so avoid to hide having a uterus before getting pregnant." Glad times are changing! Jeanine, you are a treasure and so is your body of work.
