Oh...yeah, of course. I'd take Iowa out and swap Ohio, NJ and even Indiana as they're all tougher than Iowa for various reasons, but outside of those, give me the stop sign. States like Kentucky and Texas are definitely developing though. But it used to be if you got a guy from one of those States, if they only won a title or two, it'd be easy. But the talent is so much better than just 20 years ago...
@@1190CB Georgia or Wyoming. I Wrestled a 4X Champ in GA and I thought...dude MUST be a good. 4X State Champ is a 4X State Champ. And then you find out they've got I think 8 divisions. LOL...8 of them! There are 8 sections we qualify to go to state from! But Jordyn Raney and his brother from Kentucky, Bo Nickal is from Texas, Cael is from Utah, you can get studs in any state.
4x state champ... oh wait I was and I never wrestled again after high school. So the state championships I think ultimately would still mean more to me than a single fargo title. I only wrestled about half a dozen freestyle tournaments my whole career.
@Nish288 i took a year off from school right after i graduated and then went to a D3 close to home to be close to my sick mother at the time. She was a single mom and an awesome mom. I couldn't just leave her I'd have never forgiven myself. She got really sick just before season started and I made the choice to try and focus on school and being with her only. She died about 8 months later and then I dropped out and joined the army. I always dream of getting back on the mat and getting a coaching job at one of my local high schools just haven't done it yet. I wasn't just a 4x state champ. I took 3rd two years in a row at the beast of the east tournament and 4th at NHSCA Senior Nationals. I miss those days so much.
@@soldierboy2350 What state? I'm guessing Kentucky...because the 4X State Champ, but not winning Beast of the East or NHSCA(which are...really tough, no slight...but if you win 4 in Penn or Ohio, you're probably winning those). Anyway, I looked at it like I was one of about 240 State Champs each year...whereas Fargo, you're 1 of 1. But I never won Fargo and got beat at the NHSCA to a kid who never even won a state title from Ohio). Hey, if you were D3, your clock stops I believe if you don't Wrestle. You could still Wrestle in College...if you wanted.
@scourge8097 I'm from Virginia. Also, i didn't get a chance to compete at the beast my senior year due to an ankle injury. That would have been my year to win it. Especially considering a kid I majored the year before for 3rd ended up winning it that year. Oh well, coulda, shoulda, woulda. I did though beat plenty of high caliber Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, iowa, etc state champs during my years. Never beat any one who went on to win 4 titles in any of those states but my hit list did include individual and/or 2x state champs from those states and many others. All this reminiscing got me wishing I could go back now and do it again 😆😭
@@soldierboy2350 Virgina? How many divisions is that? A couple 3rd's at Best and 4th at Sr. Nats are both impressive accomplishments. I haven't been out to Virgina in a while and only recruited out there for a couple years.
There’s never been a 4x CA champ from what I remember. We had some 3x. I got mopped up by one of them at the Southern Section CIF in 1996. Joe Calevitta worked me. He was a HS national champ.
Depends on the state. Pennsylvania Iowa or California I’ll go 4 timer but if I were from Utah or Kentucky gimme the stop sign

I know a few Fargo National Champs and never won a California State title.

In Ohio, 4x state champ all day. My bro was a 2x Fargo champ and a 3x state runner up. And wrestled at Penn state.
Who's your brother

There was a kid named Leo Maestas won Fargo in 2023. Didn't even place at CIF State the next year, that just shows how hard a Cali state title is
Give me 4 state titles and the money i spent on fargo every summer back in my pocket and i wouldve been way happier
I'd take a 4x champ all day
Don't get me wrong Fargo is probably harder to do but for bragging rights I'm taking 4x champ

Darrel Vasquez, Justin Mejia, Seth Nevills, Jesse Vasquez. Richie Figueroa should’ve been a 4xer but that covid year State was cancelled.
4x New Jersey state champion
My favorite state for HS wrestling.
