  • God's Gun - A priest and his twin brother take turns defending a small town from the vicious Clayton gang.
    God's Gun (1976)
    Director: Gianfranco Parolini
    Writers: John Fonseca, Gianfranco Parolini
Stars: Lee Van Cleef, Jack Palance, Richard Boone
    Genre: Western
    Country: Italy, Israel
    Language: English
    Release Date: 1976 (Italy)
    Filming Location: Israel
    Synopsis:
Intent on murder, the vicious cut-throats of the pitiless bandit, Sam Clayton, ride into dusty Juno City, rob the bank, and kill the pacifistic man of religion, Father John, in front of the church. As the semi-inebriated sheriff decides not to take action, the priest's young protégé, Johnny, gambles with death to find the deceased's twin brother, Lewis, in Mexico, and talk him into settling the score. Can Diamante Lobo, the feared ex-bounty hunter, right a wrong, and in the process, rid the town of Clayton's jackals?
    Reviews:
"I thought this was an excellent picture. Lee Van Cleef does an excellent job playing the role of Father John and the role of Lewis. Jack Palace was excellent in his role as Sam Clayton. The reason I bought this movie was Sybil Danning. You didn't see much of Sybil Danning body in this because it was a western but, she was excellent in her role as Jenny the owner of the saloon. Her talents as an actress really shined in this picture. So, with that in mind, and because this movie kept my interest through the entire picture I'm giving this movie 10 weasels stars because of Sybil Danning and the level of action , adventure and drama this movie had from beginning to end. Wow, This Is The Greatest Unknown Western I Ever Seen,
    As I Have Watched Hundreds.
    Italian / Spanish Films Westerns:
Lee Van Cleef, Jack Palace, Richard Boone, & Kid? Actor.
    Along With Beautiful Women.
This Movie Compares With Clint Eastwood Westerns With Lee Van Cleef of course by Italian Director?
    Probably Filmed In Spain.
    Great Locations, Terrain & Horses.
Thank You, Gringo Western Channel. Sincerely, Mr.T.

Fortunate to meet and photograph him years ago. He generously modeled for one of my photo classes. I didn't know of his performance in this film. He could portray Good and Bad guys. Great !! Then you also had Jack Palance, Richard Boone, Leif Garrett, and Sybil Danning.

You got to think of how old these are They go back to the '60s when they were just barely making color to movies and were filmed through the '70s They have bad audio because it's not been cleaned up these aren't even reworked They are raw and a lot of them are on old stock that has just been ran on to DVD. It would be nice if they would remix them and clean them up and put or if someone would go in and get an original but no. I mean they were turning them out so fast that it's amazing some are lost to time really because they didn't save them.

    that's not richard boone's voice!!
Richard Boone walked off the film before it was completed, leaving his role to be dubbed by another actor. In an interview with Cleveland Amory in Israel in May 1976, Boone told Amory: "I'm starring in the worst picture ever made. The producer is an Israeli and the director is Italian, and they don't speak. Fortunately it doesn't matter, because the director is deaf in both ears."

Yeah he always was watch him in Shane. He scared that crap out of me as a kid watching him. I was like Oh man he's going to kill those guys. Not because of how he talked it was his vision his look The way he looked. There are actors who have presents they become the part and that's what he was. It's like Richard Widmark He was a scary guy when he played bad guys honestly yet he could play the nicest guys. You watch him in the movies where he played the bad guys and you're like Oh my god that guy has to have something really psychologically wrong with him. The first time I ever saw him was a bad guy and it's a short black and white film made for television. You're like oh crap But yeah he ended up being one of the nicest men in Hollywood positively in love with his wife never strayed never committed adultery They couldn't write a bad thing about him just awesome but scary dude when he wanted to be. He was infamous for I think his first part was he was the laughing hyena murderer of pushing a lady down a staircase in a wheelchair I remember. It was really insane every time I see it it just makes your skin crawl. Can never be duplicated by anybody I don't think It's just totally insane. Same with Jack Palance totally insane when he needed to be & heart of gold when he must to be.
You find out that's a true actor, as if they can convince you they are that character they have completed and fulfilled the assignment correctly. One has forgetten they are some superstar and our now simply Curly from City slickers.
That's what acting is. That's how I can tell the difference between real actors and people who just play a part. That's why you were not going to be seeing extremely fantastic actors anymore The studios don't want to spend the money on them, they don't want to give them time to perform and they also don't want to give them the length of time it takes to become an exceptionally experienced and talented person A lot of these people hit their stride in their thirties and '40s and they're not going to give them that time anymore. They're not going to give them a lifetime of acting. They're going to base movies on cartoon characters it's just going to be very different I have tried to watch the newer movies The problem was I got lucky where I grew up there was a guy that the television station had vintage movies on at 3:00 in the afternoon so when you got home from school you got to watch vintage movies Even though cable was in and the satellite dishes were installed etc all that stuff The local television was still available and you could get this television show that came on at 3:00 in the afternoon so ma'am when it was the hottest you didn't want to be outside playing so you would come in and watch TV and have your snacks and watch the latest old movie and sometimes they were black and white silent films and he would explain all the movie stars I learned all about the technical painting on how they did the black and white movies with the shadowing and how all the different shades of gray made it important to the theme of the movie It was fascinating All of the history behind it that where you could steal it go and see some sets and how this these buildings were built and how it affected the character of the houses that were built in certain areas of Los Angeles and Pasadena and etc and it was really fascinating grew up on Laurel and Hardy hated the Three stooges, anything that they could do that would teach an educate people about film and there were kids in the area that I think got into doing film and went on to college and university and got into theater etc because of that show It taught you about it and gave us a really great respect for the film industry so we kind of grew up liking anybody from anytime. And of course those girls really liked all the makeup and hair and beautiful clothes from the '50s and '60s because man we weren't getting glamorous stuff that's for sure.
As far as Jack Palance Positively right now if he were alive he'd be standing up for the Ukraine. He hated Russia. He knew first hand about the starvation and purposeful death that Lenin & The Bolsheviks committed on the Ukrainian people as well as Stalin. too. He was not from Russia he was Ukrainian. I felt so bad when I read his obituary and then they told about the fact that his son died of melanomas so suddenly that they didn't even get a chance to really say goodbye with melanoma you don't know you have it usually until it's too late as melanoma weren't looking for it. Especially back then they really weren't. It goes straight for your brain It can burrow right through your body straight to the brain that's what it does and they don't know why yet. He only had one but that one bad spot killed him very fast He was in Mexico getting treatment but I learned the hard way through my oncologist not being truthful with me that Mexico doesn't have a treatment for cancer but the EU did while I was trying to fight my own battle.

I didn't like this movie for some reason and it had 3 of my favorite actors in it. Lee Van Cleef, Richard Boone and Jack Palance. It just seemed hokey and wrong.

Three great actors in a poor movie.
They must have been desperate for work and a trip to the Middle East I assume is the filming location

Thanks for posting but this is a terrible film especially considering the actors involved. Just walks up and takes all the guns of a gang of killers. Yeah right. What nonesense.
