I agree that's too much to trade with Boston, getting an OF with control may be a good idea. If healthy - key word being "if" - the everyday outfield is set in 2025 but they can't expect that. Acuña may need time to recover and Harris has missed time the last 2 years. I'd prefer having 4 solid guys vs what we're seeing out there with Kelenic now.
Canha has 8PA in 2024 leading off. He has an OPS+ of 7. He has 116 AB hitting 2nd. OPS+ 96. As much as he's a contact guy, he hasn't been very good this year at the top of the order. He's hit best 3rd (123 OPS+), 5th (152 OPS+), and 6th (129 OPS+). He's not batting 3rd or 5th in the Braves lineup and I don't think he's better than Murphy for the 6th spot. So you're trading for a 7-9 hitter with worse defense than Duvall. I know Duvall can't hit RHP but I don't think giving up anything for Canha is worth it who has an OPS+ of 87 vs RHP in 2024.
I really think for starting pitchers, all they need is an decent pitcher, just anyone who is major league quality and can eat innings in the second half of the season to lighten the load on Fried, Sale and Lopez and minimize the odds of them getting hurt or wearing out. If you can get into the playoffs with those 3 guys healthy and Charlie Morton as your backup you can feel pretty good about your chances to win any series.
Agreed. They don't have to get a top arm, just someone to help get them through the rest of the regular season and someone you don't dread starting in a Game 3 in the postseason.
Over/Under on Tommy John surgery for Waldrep: June 2025. Also, it took Acuna 2 years to fully recover from his right ACL, so don't expect much from him in 2025, therefore it is a good idea to get another legit OF either at this year's deadline or in the off season.
Still wanna trade for that Olson kid who pitched for Detroit last night. I like the idea of canha as well. I’d give up kuehler, hackenberg, and nacho for both of them.
I wish milwaukee would trade with us. I'd love to have adames and hoskins. You know how much that would change our team! Thru are still in the race so I don't think they will be trading unless they fall later in trade deadline
@@LockedOnBraves I agree wishful thinking I suppose! We have terrible production overall from SS and catcher. I can deal with catcher for now but we need a bat in the middle that can maybe drive some runs in. We are struggling in that department.
Only question I have for Forest Wall is the arm. I don't know how strong it is i know that one throw into second looked kinda weak but in not sure if he just didn't get set well enough for a good strong throw on that one
I think Flarhety and Canha would help,I was saying during the off season Braves should sign Flarhety,Canha seems like he’s always on base and getting that hit,he has always been good against the Braves too it seems
I remember early last year, people were saying, need to get rid of Ozuna, he's trouble, well how the tide changed. We need pitching or a batter who can hit. I recall you even mentioned it a few times. In my book, he's all star but won't make the team as a DH because of Ohtani, enough said. Duvall ??? It's time and Murphy needs help hitting ??? Tromp was playing, but it's all about the $$$. The Braves are playing so, so even with the rookie pitchers, but not as good as my fishing. Later
Tbh the wild swing issue is a baseball issue. I mean come on. Olsen, Ozuna Riley albies and all of em look silly many times and any given day swinging at the filthy pitches. It is after all the best pitchers in the world day after day. I agree it's crazy to see someone swing a such s bad pitch and the next pitch they hit it 400' for a hr. Baseball is a funny game! It's the least successful game of professional sports as far as batting goes. The best are only successful nearly 30% of the time.
@@LockedOnBraves Do you think Lopez and Sale make it thru the rest of the year without any problems? If not I'll continue to make a killing betting against the Braves when they use that 5th starter. It makes the rest of the rotation have little room for error. It causes losing streaks easier. I hope Ian Anderson can come back right before the playoffs. Out of the 3 rookie pitchers, I really think only Waldrep will be a number 1 and routinely an all-star. Just my opinion, thanks for the reply.

People are so blinded by recency bias. Murphy was good to great last year until Sept and has been hurt most of this year. No one was complaining about Murphy when he was an all-star.
We couldn't improve Contreras defensively. The Brewers have improved him there but he's still levels below Murphy with a glove. Health is the main factor offensively
@@NDTexan he's also regressed defensively this year by most metrics. There's also a scenario where both teams do well in a trade. Braves fans seem to think completely dismantling a team is the only way for a trade to be a win.
This is not the 60s, acl tears are a very common surgery nowadays. Acuna is still very young, it may shorten his career but I think after his Braves contract is over. He will sign with the Mets and play with his brother.
Unpopular I know but Murphy has only performed well for half a season with the Braves. Maybe should not have traded for him. I think Ramon would catch on if they would play him. Ozzie’s arm strength is a bit concerning. Arcia can’t hit if his life depended on it
Yeah getting Paul Dejong would definitely be a lateral move. I’d rather have Arcia. I trust his defense more
I think I agree there.

Whether I expect much from Acuńa or not, if he's healthy he's going to play.
Man idk how Mark Canha fits into this clubhouse
Does he have clubhouse issues I'm not aware of.?

I don't think the Tigers move Olson unless they're getting a stud bat in return. Not sure Nacho fits that for them, but who knows.

I don't think he has the strongest arm, but on that throw in particular he had to slide to get the ball and had no momentum behind the throw.
If braves pick up Canah, it better be to retrade him in a package. That dude sucks

I understand every hitter gets fooled and looks foolish sometimes, but there are guys who chase wildly more than others (see Javy Baez).
No, Braves need another MLB level starting pitcher. It's not even close.

When they were both healthy all year last season (Murph as banged up for a bit) they were basically the same.
