Jimmy is truly a renaissance man! Didn't expect to see him brewing sake at home! Just add that to the list of other skills - speaking multiple foreign languages, bargain hunting, script writing, eating ramen (😂)... I'm probably missing some too. He can do it all apparently 🙂
I asked the clerk at the corner store of she knew where I could find koji or starter. She was so happy I asked that she called her mom who showed up 5 minutes later with a white plastic bag full of it and gave it to me for free. I was confused about how to reciprocate that kind of generosity but now that it's been with me for 5+ years I just get it.
For everyone else who wants to try this, you use whats called an air lock to let the gases escape and not let any contamination in, it's not really a good idea to just leave the lid open
Dude, not sure how this video showed up in my feed, but I've made sake before and plan to again, so I clicked on the link. You are freaking hilarious! I'm following you just based on this vid. Oh, and now I wanna make Korean fried chicken.
For anyone who doesn't know... once you strain the sake from the rice mash, do not throw it away! The rice mash is sake lee's and can be used for pickling, marinating meats and even for skin care!
I ordered it! There is a 20% off sale and when I added your code I received 30% off! Yeah! I hope it is good though lol I usually make my own sauce with gochujang, so I am excited to compare it!
Dont let it just open, use a "fermentation tube" its a little tube mostly made of plastik that filled with a bit water so the gases can get out but nothing get in the jar, i brew my own Met (Honey Whine) and i think i try Sake :)
Honey Wine and mead are technically different things. Honey wine is usually honey and white grapes, mead is honey. It does get a bit more complicated as true old fashioned meads had botanical and fruit mashes included.@@bokrugthewaterserpent3012
Oh my! I just watched you first time and you are really amazing! Some videos oh my 😂.. But you are funny. Best recipe I saw ever!! It was first time I subscribed someone from first video I saw ! ❤
Do not get baking yeast it's not strong enough for making wine in general and I'm pretty sure it will not be good for this you have to get specifically yeast wine which is a completely different strand of yeast compared to the one we use for baking.
If koji is responsible for the breaking down of starch in the rice grains into glucose....could you just dump a bunch of amylase on to some rice and eventually get the same product?
That was a great video man! I hope the next fermentation journey you go on will be KOMBUCHA, it’s super healthy and it’s awesome to make. Although i have to say… I don’t think kombucha is very common in korea? It’s more of a cali girl / smelly hippie type of drink but i loveeee it
I'd do this, but I'm allergic to koji mold. I've never heard of anyone else being allergic to it, but I've done a skin-scratch test and that's definitely what's causing a reaction.
Lol the first time i had sake i had 4 of those little green glass bottles "chilled" and i did not know.........20 min later i punched a chicago cab on the hood while walking home....later my hand hurt and i rememberd what i did, it wad so good stuff but so strong, when i had it warm it made me sleepy. Like it cold better.
Jimmy is on his way to becoming the perfect uncle that knows how to make everything
Uncle Jimmy, always striving for perfection 🤣
Except pizza.
moonshine
Much better uncle than wahger
The pedo uncle maybe
9:43 Jimmy truly is a man of culture. I love Eimi Fukada.
This is the best video I've found on the entire internet for making home brew sake.
That South park clip was VILE 💀💀
really unnecessary to add that clip ☠️
@@KishiRouge It's a Jimmy video, everything is necessary
@@April480p true words 🤣🤣
It was hilarious
I was eating 😭

Wow! Hope you make amazing things with that koji!!
That's some luck there.
The amount of times I roll my eyes watching Jimmy’s videos is ridiculous lmao but I still watch every time 🤣
Haha, I know exactly what you mean 🤣
Your patience and cooking skills are 💯💯 Jimmy.
haha the patience was the hard part. It took so much space in the fridge lol
The first video I've seen from you. Your humor and willingness to try new things us what is going to keep me around. That Southpark clip was gold.
Eimi fukada clip made me laugh 😂 Uncle Jimmy is a man of culture
man I ran straight to the comments after seeing it
Cant find it😢
Saw her in a don quixote mega prompting a protein brand , imagine my surprise
Glad you found a sponsor! Also, I will try to make that Korean Fried Chicken too.
Thanks for recipe!
The sauce is honestly very good. You should try!

I made sake during the pandemic and it turned out pretty good!
I don't (typically) drink alcohol, but sake is the one alcoholic drink that I absolutely enjoy when I do have some.
Thank you for showing me this tutorial. You are extremely entertaining. This was fun to watch. You have my follow.
That fried chicken looked HEAVENLY! When’s Mommy Jimmy’s Fried Chicken and Sake opening? XD
Love these videos, Jimmy :D so happy that you got a sponsor for this too!

This reminds me so much of the Makgeolli episode😂
That fried korean chicken though, my god I want a bite!
I'm so glad you revisited this again ! Super interesting to watch
Jimmy, you are my hero…! I wanted to try making sake for a long time, now I’ll have a go! ❤
Thanks Mommy Jimmy for the lessons 🙏🏽🤙🏽
Thankyou so much jimmy for starting to post 2 times a week!
By da way i had two dreams as a child: becoming a mom... AND becoming a crusader. Why? because both of zem are powerful
That bicep tornado joke got me hooked, this is great content!
For anyone who doesn't know... once you strain the sake from the rice mash, do not throw it away! The rice mash is sake lee's and can be used for pickling, marinating meats and even for skin care!
it's honestly incredible.
16:47 "This is just like store bought sake"... oh well, we'll just buy sake at the stores 😅
Showing it The Seven Samurai definitely sounds like a great idea. Such a good movie.
I can’t wait to try this! Thanks Uncle Jimmy. ❤
man was on an absolute high at the end of the vid, i hope we all experience that level of happiness once in our life
Dude you're hilarious. That's a compliment. Thanks for the great video!
One note about the water: use mineral (still) or bottled water instead of tap. Chlorine in tap water is a huge nope for these microbes.
I was waiting so long for this. This might be your most interesting video of all
I ordered it! There is a 20% off sale and when I added your code I received 30% off! Yeah! I hope it is good though lol I usually make my own sauce with gochujang, so I am excited to compare it!
It is exactly like the fried chicken seasoning in Korea! You'll like it. Just make sure you make the best fried chicken for it
@Jimmy Kim I will! Thank you so much for making amazing videos!! I love them!
Wowwww I would love to try this myself one day
Well if I ever make it over seas I will stop in for dinner and drinks lol!!! Looks good!!
Great video jimmy! always excited when i see your video pop up on my youtube feed.
i can smell the deliciousness of your dinner. All from the crunch of the fried chicken mmm
I, too, have "Spilled a lot" in my fermentation experiments. ;)
Jimmy pivoting into cuisine content now? 🤤
OMG! Jimmy - Your commentary is surprising and funny.
Thanks Mommy 😆
An upload from jimmy cures a bad day :)
First video I've seen of you but love your humour 😂
God, please. Give this man more sponsors! Great vid as always.

Love your videos man. I wish you the best.
Jimmy.. a man of culture. Eimi Fukuda, I see you :D
I've prepared a few batches of wine by now... that "please God don't let me mess it up... WAUGH" is way too relatable 😅
Sometimes, I think I want to watch your video on $1 Therapy vs $100 Therapy
That intergalactic joke made me laugh beyond the end of this video
Uncle Jimmy, you should open up a brewery.
I can see it now - Uncle Jimmy's brewery and chicken shack! 😅
I was hoping you would have made your own teriyaki sauce with the sake you made. Still awesome video!
Hey jimmy been here for awhile now and I have missed the cooking videos especially on you're parents farm. Happy to see them again!
Liked and subscribed! Nicely done my friend. 🍶

Now that's a true fermentation project.. Definitely has a smell to it - but so flavorful and healthy!
Fully agree man!
I'd do this, but I'm allergic to koji mold. I've never heard of anyone else being allergic to it, but I've done a skin-scratch test and that's definitely what's causing a reaction.
YES A SPONSOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 💯💯💯
You can use vinigar to disinfect aswel

Mommy Jimmy, this isn’t a Japan Vlog video. You can’t count this as a video for this week. Lol
yoo another video to make my day!

Awesome mate 😂
The worlds smallest bottle of sake. Thanks for the recipe. Do you have to scale up the koji when making 5 gallons?
Yes, as far as I know, the ratio has to remain the same! Hope it goes well for you
spilled, of course xD you drank that boy.

🤣
this video is the start of jimmy’s sake company
