You can use Google's Android TV Remote Control app to have a virtual mouse in apps like Stadia on the Chromecast with Google TV. It's an older app, but it gives you a trackpad interface, and you can use your phone's keyboard for text entry.
There's a Side Loader app available in the apps category list in Google TV. Google TV can load apps that are already on your other devices from the app category list. Its sends you to your other device to get the account information using a code. I downloaded several apps this way. There's even a browser available in the apps category list.
Is there a way (or an app) that allows your to flip the Chromecast screen upside down? I have two TV's mounted upside down that do not have native HV flip and need to find a way to flip my screen.

Hey to answer your question I'm sure you can hook up a wireless mouse and keyboard. I haven't been able to successfully do mine but I do see them show up as Bluetooth devices but it just doesn't connect. And I do have Chrome installed on mine using a completely different method than what he showed in the video.

Going into developer mode implies you have at least considered the potential downfalls of sideloading applications. It's like saying, "are you sure you want to do this"?

Google have directly integrated Android 9 (think it's still on 9) into ChromeOS but it functions differently. It's more than because it asks you every time you restart to Continue past the splash screen. Besides we shouldn't have to accept reduced security, passed the inherent reduced security in sideloading, just to install apps of our choosing.
Anyone having issues getting Amazon Prime app to work on the Chromecast? Mine does not load and after few seconds errors out. Removed the app and installed again but still the same problem. All other apps work fine.

I can't believe so many weeks have passed and not a single confirmed product is made aware that works. It's all hit/miss everywhere in reviews, reddit and other blogs.

So having too much plugged in at once on a computer doesn't seem to work. But connected to my Chromecast I have a USB currently connected to it for all my other apps that I load onto the external drive. I have not tested a USB mouse in keyboard
@@igb2904 yeah it's not worth to be honest unless you really want to tinker. On Android phones and tablets you don't even need to enable developer mode to sideload apps. It even prompts you to allow sideloadihg when you first try and install an APK so you don't have to hunt in settings. I guess it was made much more complicated on ChromeOS to keep it secure as you really have to commit.
This new Chromecast w/GTV is terrible. I've had mine for almost two months and it freezes multiple times a night, and loses connection with wifi even though my router is 25 feet away from the tv. Do yourself a favor and Google "Chromecast with google tv wifi issues" before you decide to buy one.
Why would you show how to install stadia when it's not even ready to handle the actual controller? This is useless you should have chosen a different app that would have been more useful. Everybody here... don't install stadia it's not ready. You can't even hook the controller to it and play games.

Amaze file manager and Astro file manager are decent too. Solid Explorer is also an exceptional file manager.
I like File Manager + for it's "new files" option, makes it easy to access something just d-loaded!

Yep but you get an ugly "You're on developer mode" splash screen every time you restart and it also turns off some of ChromeOS' security too.

Pretty sure I've seen an article with a USB-C hub connecting things like a drive and webcam and worked just fine.

That's a bummer You're having issues we've had ours about a month with zero issues.
Technology has a fail rate. I love this chromecast compared to my ruku and tivo stream 4k which just froze and stopped working all the time.
