Thank you for making this video! I am heading to Hawaii in a little over a month then I will be doing at least a year of travel starting June 2018 and am really hoping to get started on travel vlogging! Love your videos :)
Thanks so much for uploading this video, some really helpful tips I never would have thought about! I'm going travelling in 4weeks time starting through South East Asia and then over to Aus for my one year working holiday visa, planning on uploading my videos to youtube and this gave me alotta things to consider before I start! Also you're right about what people search for, I think I came across your channel through the tips on saving money to travel and really liked your advice, personality and content, keep up the great work! :)
Another free editing software is Davinci Resolve 12! Well a free version to be exact but its pretty much the full version. It's great because not only does it have a great editing tool but it has an amazing color grading/correction tool.
Wow,, been doing research on what it would be like to do a travel channel and you have a lot of good tips. The editing advice is very good. Your editing in this video was intense. Not sure if I have what it takes but research is fun.
I love your video and recommendations . I would like to make dance videos and was wondering if the g7x ii would be better than a smartphone ? I do pole fitness and find its hard to find something that can keep up with all of the spins ... thank you :)
Vlogging is sooo hard !! I do it here and there . I'd like to do it more often , and I think I will .. especially cause I will be going to London and Paris in September solo ;-0 ... I would like to capture it . I will be also staying in hostels there for the first time ! I am 34 and I think I'll be the oldest there haha .. #fear..Thanks for all your tips Mari!
Hi, thanks for the tips ! I found travel vlogs kinda hard to edit. Shooting of great/interesting/awesome places was not so hard for me, but the whole talking about what I am doing in that video, I have struggled.😅 also editing and displaying particular places, I never know when i am displaying that location for to long or vice versa. I have only done one of this kind videos. Now I am simply looking for the ways to improve it, as I have travel quite often.
Thanks for the video Mari!! We have trouble finding music too. Honestly what we've been doing so far is looking in other vloggers video descriptions to see who they might have credited for their music haha
Thanks for the tips. I've been hesitant to post our first couple videos because of intimidation. I feel like we need a set style or something? I don't know. I appreciated your video though, thanks again. We leave in June and the packing situation currently is really overwhelming! I am planning on doing another clip of the craziness that is our house right now!
You definitely don't need a set style! It will all come with time and you'll develop your own rhythm. Yes, people love watching packing and all of that! Good luck with everything!
Thank you, I will just dive in and at least do our intro video! :D Maybe it will be fun down the road to see how uncomfortable and unprofessional it was, haha. ;)
I keep a regular journal (video journal) since I was 16 (20+ yrs)...yeah getting older and hates it, but that's part of the journey. I thought about vlogging, but I would probably run out of ideas to talk about.
Great video Mari! I personally stopped to follow youtubers that use drones and fancy equipments because If I want to see those kind of videos I prefer to watch the professional travel channels! I tent to follow simple people like you or Psycho Travel, because I can relate much more! I'm currently traveling through Southeast Asia and daily vlogging and, as you said, I'm mainly doing it for myself but also for the audience, I'm trying to add things that I would have loved to see in travel video while I was back home and watching them! Good job as always :)
Hey Mary, loved your videos but only now i came across your tips for how to start vlogging and making progress in the online world. Since we are also trying to help new talent along (send us a message about the Blog you created) here at asiareport.com, I am tweeting your tips here out on site plus sharing it on twitter with the world. Thanks so much! I know, its not really that easy but it is a lot of fun to try tell a story, or just show people around. Greets from DrBen in The Netherlands.
I really love watching all your videos Mari. They are all well put together, sincere & insightful.

Awesome tips!
One tip is to try to plan ahead and put together a list of shots you want. It'll help create a frame work to build on.

I shoot tons of B-roll. Nothing worse than spending a day out on location and then editing later, only to find you don't have enough footage.
lol she's back haha
I love the editing that goes in to it... accompanied by wine Lol Great tips Mari
a nice cold beer works well too!
amazing how you can talk 12 minutes like that without slowing down damn girl
Are you a fanatic or something of this kind?Haha but thanks for the information
