I am a liberal Democrat, always have been but I have great respect for people of good principles like Adam Kinzinger, Liz Cheney, Mitt Romney and John McCain (RIP). I don't have to agree with their views on policy to see they are principled people. I feel exactly the opposite about unprincipled people like Matt Gaetz, Marjorie Traitor Greene, Jim Jordan, Lauren Boebert and especially the "Orange One" who shall not be named.

Because of Obamacare, I was able to take early retirement and help my elderly mother take care of my father whom had dementia. We were able to keep him in his own home where he died peacefully. I wish Republicans like Kinzinger and Cheney would expose Trump’s (& other GQP Republicans’ lies) that the Democrats are trying to get rid of the Patient Protection Act that is a key part of Obamacare! It’s a FACT that 25 “red” State Attorney Generals have a lawsuit on the docket before the US SCOTUS declaring the PPA is “unconstitutional”. Trump signed on to it and was trying to fast track it through SCOTUS before he was forced to evacuate the WH. The GQP are toadies to big money interests and vote accordingly.
It helped my daughter and I when I changed employers and they didn't offer health care. There was no way I could afford any health plan...way too expensive.

They always went together to vote in every single election and would laugh as they went out the door about how they were going to "cancel each other out." The entire problem with a market-based approach to healthcare, the problem with the "conservative" viewpoint at its foundation, is that the market for non-elective healthcare has inelastic demand. They're claiming to be the party that understands economics, but they fail to grasp even this simple reality. How much would you pay to walk again, to see again, to live more than the next few months, or to allow your baby to survive a horrible illness? Everything you have and more. Capitalism will not function in markets with inelastic demand. There's no decrease in demand when you increase prices. Since Capitalism is entirely based on this relationship, trying to use it to regulate the healthcare industry is madness. Fortunately, we have an effective solution: by grouping demand in to pools, the larger the better, we can use collective bargaining in order to set fair pricing, and arrive at an equitable distribution of goods and services among the public. And the main reason that Republicans continuously, belligerently fail to understand this is because they're being paid not to understand this. Stop the madness.
As a child growing up in NYC lived 5 houses away from Donald. Every Friday I paid him to deliver my grandfathers news paper. If I knew what a monster he would grow up to become I could have stopped him at the front door. I don't think a 10 year old can be convicted of manslaughter. The entire problem with a market-based approach to healthcare, the problem with the "conservative" viewpoint at its foundation, is that the market for non-elective healthcare has inelastic demand.
They're claiming to be the party that understands economics, but they fail to grasp even this simple reality.
How much would you pay to walk again, to see again, to live more than the next few months, or to allow your baby to survive a horrible illness?
Everything you have and more. Capitalism will not function in markets with inelastic demand. There's no decrease in demand when you increase prices.
Since Capitalism is entirely based on this relationship, trying to use it to regulate the healthcare industry is madness.
Fortunately, we have an effective solution: by grouping demand in to pools, the larger the better, we can use collective bargaining in order to set fair pricing, and arrive at an equitable distribution of goods and services among the public.
And the main reason that Republicans continuously, belligerently fail to understand this is because they're being paid not to understand this.
Stop the madness.
As a child growing up in NYC lived 5 houses away from Donald. Every Friday I paid him to deliver my grandfathers news paper. If I knew what a monster he would grow up to become I could have stopped him at the front door. I don't think a 10 year old can be convicted of manslaughter. Since I couldn't stop him then I can make sure to not vote for him now and stop him today. Join me in preventing a mistake that can't be undone.

I hope it occurs to him and Biden, and everyone else that is as thankful as me and I’m progressive that Merrick Garland should be appointed to this Supreme Court. If we hold the Senate and Adam Kinziger should be AG or Liz Cheney. I’d be OK with either even as a progressive, they are the rule of law and protecting democracy I think they would be even handed.
Interesting dialogue with Adam Kinzerger. I am a democratic converted from republican after years of brainwashing by my father [Ohio) when I was young. I learned to think for myself. I applaud Kinzerger for supporting the constitution. I also agree with his comments about North Carolina republicans. This has been my home since 1982. David Price was my representative for years. The urban areas are heavily democratic. It's the rural areas & darn gerrymandering that make us a toss-up state. Best of luck with your new book. I am 70 BTW. 9th generation American on both sides. Immigration is not a problem for me. Newbies like Trump are the probkem.
I'm a just left of center Democrat and have much respect for Mr. Kinzinger and disagree with much of his ideology but that's to be expected I agree with his opinions on what is taking place today in Congress and I am all for the idea that the Re-publican party must get back to it's roots so that both parties can get back to doing the work for the American people as the founders designed that body to function in a way that is acceptable to any and all parties .
I know that the current situation is far and away unacceptable and nothing positive and good is ever going to come from it .

Please vote in the primary AGAINST Trump!! I'm disgusted at the GOP as a lifelong (Kinzinger) Republican myself, but Trump is the reason I've kept my party affiliation, so I can vote against him! If the Dems and Independents were smart, they'd change their affiliation before the Republican primary just to help take Trump out.

The original composers of the CONSTITUTION did not know that the world would become so small. There are now more Gods and Religions than we can name. Take GOD out of our CONSTITUTION and there needs to really be a separation of church and states.
