I respect Mr. Kinzinger more than the others mostly because he's emotionally honest and forthcoming about his own responsibilities enabling Trump in the past. Very few republicans have a spine like this, even those who speak against Trump.

@@altortugas5979 He lost his job, his $174,000 job with free staff, free security, free access to Walter Reed Medical Center, a total of $7.5 million in annual perks, and knew he would. How often have you had the courage to speak out and take action that would give a similar result? He acknowledges his mistake in supporting Trump through his first impeachment. What more do you want from the guy?
Yes, I would have liked him to be like one of the Justins from Tennessee, or Elizabeth Warren on the issues, but he wasn't and isn't. And the reason these people write these books is because the American people buy them. If all his publisher, an outfit I never heard of called The Open Field, started by Maria Shriver, part of publishing giant Penguin Books, were going to make from his book were $43.25, he wouldn't be writing books. He could make more money growing blueberries.
Since we the people still get to weigh in in America, in the end the American people are to blame, because they don't have to buy his or Barr's or Mattis' or Bolton's or Hutchinson's etc. book. They don't have to be gullible and believe political commercials or any commercials. They choose to be influenced. We even have a profession today called "influencer". Why? Imagine just sticking with the same soup, or laundry detergent, or bank your whole adult life because you're satisfied and are not interested in what some other purveyor of the product or service tells you in their biased manner would be better for you. Republicans bristle at Michelle Obama suggesting that they eat more greens, which benefits her not at all if her advice is taken, punish her and the Dems in general by voting for a Trump because a liberal thinks she knows better what's good for them, but have no problem accepting some soup or floor wax company telling them they're stupid for using their old product instead of the new one the company is going to make lots of money off of.
If you argue that Americans are gullible because they have a bad education system, then I would ask why they choose to have a bad education system that doesn't emphasize questioning and critical thinking, but simply accepting the strongest, noisiest and most frequently heard voice in the room? Do half of parents in America teach their children authoritarianism? "I'm your father/mother! You do what I say!"
      "But why?
"Because I say so. That's why. Now go to your room and do what I told you to do. Now!"
      "OK. OK."
It would be no wonder if children subjected to that would grow up to admire authoritarian politicians with the strongest, noisiest and most frequently heard voice in the room.

To them, it's not politics. Defendant Trump, they believe, is a deity, or at least someone sent by a deity. They truly believe that failure to give allegiance to the cult leader will result in their damnation. The references to tru*p opponents as "Satanists" have increased in recent months. It's way out there past the fringes, and it's very dangerous.
