    His knockout against Tiger is one of the best set ups no one does. Look at how he uses a Chopping right down using the momentum of the strike he slips left slipping Tigers right and loops back up with a left hook. That is one of the sweetest knockouts ive seen and ite trainable been working on it myself. Pure Gold Bob was a Lanky Beast.

    • @thewisetzar5363
      @thewisetzar5363 5 лет назад +6

      Dick Tiger was 38, undersized and barely weighed over 169 lbs/ Complete mismatch. Too small, reach disadvantage and Foster outweighed.
      Super Middleweight division would have perfectly suited Dick Tiger who was too small for Lightheavyweights and too weighted rained for 160lbs/Middleweights.

    • @ppuh6tfrz646
      @ppuh6tfrz646 4 года назад

      @@thewisetzar5363 It wasn't a complete mismatch. Foster had a five pound weight advantage which isn't a massive difference.
      I thought Tiger was ahead in the fight until that left hook. That was what ended it, as it did with many of Foster's bouts.

    • @ppuh6tfrz646
      @ppuh6tfrz646 4 года назад +4

      @daniel avila I disagree. I don’t think Foster was setting up Tiger at all.
      It’s undoubtedly a tremendous left hook but it comes in the middle of some pretty wild swings by Foster.
      I much prefer Robinson’s left hook that knocked out Gene Fullmer. That’s a perfect example of a boxer setting his opponent up for one particular shot.
      There were no wild swings from Robinson. He feinted with the right so there was an opening for the left hook.
      Robinson only threw one punch because that was the shot he had planned.

    • @dannanrik
      @dannanrik 4 года назад

      @@ppuh6tfrz646 but if u watch other Foster fights you will see that was his style. To one it may look like a wild swing. But if u slow the footage down and study it u will find he throws a hammer punch down thru Tigers guard which twists his left hip and body over allowing for massive hip rotation and power in Bobs left hook. Bob was so much taller he had a sort of hammer fist punch he used to punch down. Think he even won knockout of the year for this one. Thats cause I'm a huge Tiger fan myself. Only ones to beat Foster tho where Heavyweights shit Frazier and Ali at that.

    I got to meet Mr Foster at a dinner I catered for a organization in Albuquerque. This dinner was droning on and on when I spotted him, I got closer by serving drinks at his table. When I saw his huge hands I was sure. I asked for his autograph told him my father was a great fan of his as was I. And although this was in his twilight years he had presence and stature of an accomplished man. My crew from the kitchen all came over and got autographs and shook his hand, he was very pleased with the attention. After the dinner his wife called me over to thank me said it really made him happy. One of my crew said Mr Foster asked him who was this small women who knew him and so much about boxing, he said she knows football too like nobody’s business and don’t bet against her.

    Highly likely this would be 12 years of defenses these days with one fight a year

    The ref in of the matches was a real sadist. Bob Foster’s opponent was taking a terrible beating yet the referee didn’t stop the fight and just carried on watching the carnage. Horrible.

    I think if Foster had actually taken the time needed to build up his body to being an actual heavyweight he could have been more of a threat at heavyweight. He was fighting Frazier and Ali weighing around 180 pounds. Michael Spinks took the time to build his body up and into the low 200s and it made him able to hang with a close to prime Larry Holmes.

      It's a possibility but he just naturally wasn't a big guy, Light-Heavyweight was his perfect weight class and I don't think he'd have ever beat the top tier Heavyweights of his day no matter what weight he was.
