Dual 10 and 12 series are my specialty. I do 2 or 3 a week. If it was a 1009, 1019, 1219 or 1229 Id agree. 1216 is nothing special. Great sounding cartridge. 👌 It was nice to see the original protective materials and warning lables. Bill at fixmydual only uses machine oil when restoring units. I prefer very light use of super lube and machine oil. 3 in 1 oil odor is too much for me to use 3 times a week. Thanks for sharing.

I think if I was sitting in a box for fifty years my motor oil would be dried up also. Hey at 56 my oil is starting to dry up some. Lol. Nice work getting that old girl running for the first time. I was really surprised to see the cartridge still functioning after 50 years. Awesome job and I know the owner will use it for years to come.

you seem to have a love and doubt for Duals which I appreciate. I find they are very good quality and value, but rarely see them in rankings of similarly priced vintage TT's. This museum piece will make someone quite happy!

At the time, the 1216 was the middle model in the Dual family with a 10" platter. The "big" Duals had 12" platters, as befits a sophisticated record player. Nevertheless, the 1216 was not a bad device. However, I am surprised that a Shure M91 is installed here, which is actually in a higher class.

I was born in 1962 ,I grew up in the time of these great turntables that 1216 is amazing I would not save it for looking at it it should be used if it were me I know it would betaken cared of and I would carefully use it and that foam by counter weight they have oils which can leak and discolor what ever it is touching so I would remove it immediately ,my last dual I bought had the same cart with original stylus it was on a dual 1246 ,it looked like it was barely ever used I setbtracking force to 1.70 grams anything under that for this TT it will not track well but this is a great sounding cart I also have the same on my dual 1009sk it came with cart but had to replace stylus with a generic stylus forgot the name but it came from japan ,ln my experience I did not think those springs would stay compressed these springs are well made they would not lose the memory ,right now I am envious of you causeyou get to look at a brand new dual TT I always loved dual turntables as why I have 3 of them they are made well my most fav is the 1009sk its heavy still very springy and built like a tank yet it is very quiet when its working JRo
