What a wonderful, merciful and loving God we have. He chose to humble himself and take up the form of His creation, that of man, in order to save us from our sins. All glory to Him.

@Rydonittelo - I think that they should have given that information, too - t least in the description below the video. Also, the place where it can be seen. >Sigh!

QUERY - - - I have been studying icons intensely for the past few weeks. Tell me, why is it that, in so few images, the Virgin touches her newly born infant? It is an impulse that the vast majority of mothers would have. (She does in this painting, which I am glad to see.)
There are many icons of the Theotokos holding him. But perhaps you are noticing that she isn't always "snuggling" him. This is because iconography is meant to portray theological realities and not evoke surface-level emotional reactions from the person looking at them
We must not forget, Christ entered the temporal realm when he was conceived in the Theotokos, not when He was born. It did not make a difference of His being human right before or after His birth. Of course, His being born is the spectacular moment when others could see Him in the flesh! So I don't mean to discount it.
I learned that the blue garmet that Mary wears signifies her divinity and the red signifies her humanity. Her humanity overshadows her divinity. And the opposite is true of the garments worn by Jesus.
Thank you very much Fr Panayiotis and Trisagion Films, really instructive video, now I know more about this beautiful icon ❤❤🙏
Very Good. Thankyou for Sharing. G

To me the Incarnation of God, Christ is born in a dark cave, represents the darkness he came to enlighten in the heart of man.

@johncollins3952 - That is the way I have heard it, too.
Ask them, Is that Jesus?
