      Bonjour Brahim!!! (still daylight here) Where are you located in France? I have traveled most of the country via car, train or plane. and i love it dearly there. I hope i get to return soon. I stayed in a boutique hotel with the wife across the street from the Notre Dame in Paris about 6 months before it burned down. I had seen the Cathedral a bunch of times already but we spent a lot of time there that trip, what a gift to see it one last time. We also spent a lot of time along the bank of the Seine below Notre Dame at night. They had these awesome parties down along the banks, friends socializing, drinking wine, the Notre Dame side of the river across from us was a bona fide block party. DJ, people break dancing and performing. it was legit amazing to see, and just another normal night in Paris. What a city!! what a country!!

      @@ibrahim6853 I have driven up the Azure Coast, probably right thru your town, what a memorable drive. Part of it was at night in very heavy rain and could barely see on winding coastal cliff roads with guard rails. I stayed a few days in Cagnes Sur MEr near the castle. what a place!!!!

      Always bet on shelter in place SOTK!!! This isnt so bad, 80 years ago i'd have been shipped across the sea to fight in a world war. Now i get to be home with my family and my studio and the internet, and relative safety. I fear for my country, but i will not be contracting Covid 19.

    Hi Ken thank you for doing this live Q&A. Just a quick question. You talked about your mixing marathon with Public Enemy and Aretha Franklin. How do you cope with so long sessions without losing your mindset and being able to deliver quality mixes?

    • @MixingNight
      @MixingNight  4 года назад

      i could never do that stretch of work now. Im in a different place in my career and dont need that insanity. Back then it was like a pure adrenaline rush knowing #1 i was mixing for Public Enemy, #2 they were loving my mixes so much they kept me there nonstop until the album closed then went straight to mastering. I mixed 5, 2 songs did not get included on the album. The 3 songs that did all used my mix. 2 other engineers both mixed the same song, much bigger mixers than me in name recognition, and only my mixes were used. I am COMPETITIVE. beating those guys was prolly as much a rush as mixing for PE. An 18 hour Aretha session after only 6 hours sleep was icing on the cake. both plaques on my walls

      @carlossotomurrugarra 4 года назад

      @@MixingNight I get it. Thanks for the reply. That just leaves me with one other question if you don't mind. How long did it take you to build the confidence to know you could sign off on mixes knowing they are keepers that go into records? I ask this because given mileage, musical ears, taste, skill, and your trustworthy, professional environment, you can confidently assess any mix and make sound decisions (pun intended), but in a project studio environment you can learn to trust your setup if you do it long enough and keep referencing and comparing your mixes, but there's always a bug inside my head second-guessing my mixes. You know the old adage, you don't finish a work of art, you give it up. What are your thoughts on this?

    • @MixingNight
      @MixingNight  4 года назад

      @@carlossotomurrugarra EVERY creative second guesses themselves. and every mixer goes thru what you are going thru now. practice and experience, plus your awareness that its a blind spot you need to work on, that will get you thru it. Eventually i just began to trust my instincts more and more, and expanded my ability to listen

    Will you add those new sprint mix to audioschoolonline ?:)

    • @MixingNight
      @MixingNight  4 года назад +2

      I really want to start a mixing movement with the Sprint Mixes. I dont know yet how i'm going to do that, but honestly for studio people like me i find it half like playing Mario Cart racing towards the finish line to get to the next level and half like the best mix training to focus your instincts. Not sure how many other people see it that way :-)

      Mixing Night absolutely. Sweetwater just reached out and said it will be here in 2 weeks. SSL didn’t expect so many orders, as well as our current health epidemic 😷 put a strain on the logistical side. Looking forward to Wednesday’s session.
