It truly wasnt even his fault either, the entire lions team flopped the entire second half. Dropping easy first down conversion passes, overthrown deep balls to guys who were wide open, TONS of missed tackles, fumbling the ball, missing two easy interceptions one in which lead to a miracle completion. If the lions took advantage of even half of the opportunities they were given in the 2nd half the game wouldn't have come down to a simple field goal call. People who say its his fault they lost are delusional.

It's a bit like the Chargers overreacting to choking against the Patriots in 2006 and firing Marty Schottenheimer after a 14-2 season. Just plain dumb. Though, Norv Turner reaching the AFC Championship game the following season, only slightly vindicates that move. Firing Dan Campbell would be the dumbest move the Lions could possibly make.

As a Lions fan, I can promise that if we had a Time Machine back in 2021, and if we traveled to today, Lions fans would absolutely rejoice at this season rather than complain about Dan and the team. The remind me of that 04 Pistons team that beat the Lakers in the Finals. He'll need the DC (mostly) and OC to step it up next season, otherwise, this will happen again! They're both crucial to the success and I don't think one would have done so well without the other. And I think it's okay to say his drafts have been spectacular given how well he did with their first four picks in 2023.

I recommend to everyone their draft documentary of last season.
Brad and Dan are always working as one mind. Everytime a possible trade comes, Brad inserts Dan in the conversation and takes his opinion into account.
      Both know what they want.
And they were happy with that draft. People talk about Branch, questioning a round 1 RB, and they were saying after day 2 "we got four starters"
I likely made some mistakes, but I think you got the general idea

Hearing that we're retaining Ben Johnson was the blast of dopamine I needed on day 2 of my mourning. It still sucks, there is no guarantee they will get back there again, but I don't like how everyone is questioning and criticizing his play calls. Those types of calls are what they have done all year, they go for the throat, they go for the kill shot. The players did not execute. Between the 49ers' lucky breaks and the Lions' mistakes, they proved they weren't quite ready yet.

19:13 Every time I think of the Lions and why I started rooting for them (despite being a Vikings fan), I think of Tree’s recap of this game vs the Seahawks in Week 4 of 2022. His words were “The Lions may be a 1-3 team but they’re a DAMN interesting 1-3 team.” And the rest, is history. I’ll be a Vikings fan until the day I die, but I can admit I felt a little pride watching the Lions claw and bite their way to the top of our division these past two years.

I remember being made aware of the Lions during their 0-16 season, and I decided right there that I was going to be a Lions fan, despite living nowhere close to detroit, because someone had to.
There has been setback after heartbreak after collapse but i always felt the team went down swinging, even when they would often pull defeat from the jaws of victory and find new and exciting ways to lose.
I'm so happy for their recent success, I am thrilled that other people have been made aware of the grit and dogged resilience that i feel defines this team and the city they rep. It feels great that the team finally feels like it has its feet under them and the future is looking bright.

The way I recall it, most loyal long-time fans really were excited about this new type of Coach, esp. after that first press conference. He wanted to be here and he was a tough dude. It didn't embarrass us, and the pretentious talking heads on tv? Well, obviously most didn't have a clue about the fanbase in Michigan or even Detroit culture. But Sheila Ford Hamp did. And the only serious doubting moment came in year 2 after the Bye when the team was slapped down hard. Most of us were angry with, & ashamed of, the fans who booed Sheila. But Sheila ignored them, came out and said she stood by Coach Campbell. And then we started winning... some losses, but winning!... And now the same talking heads are saying DC is the new style of HC that will be desired by most teams… Despite this past terrible second half in the championship game, it is still ‘In DC & Holmes & Sheila We Trust.’ Still Proud, One Pride!
