- This is our first impressions of the luxury side of Guatemala City (Ciudad de Guatemala), in Central America, in October 2022.

When you think of Guatemala, there is a word you may not think of; luxury. But you should. There are some really upscale areas. Especially in the capital. Zone 10 is where some of the richest in the country relax and play. It is home to the Oakland Mall, which was decked out in Christmas lights and decorations. And it was only October. We were able to stop into two different cafes to try some of the premier coffee of Guatemala. Where the level of detail and care was impeccable. We also explored an area that EVERYONE said was obligatory when visiting Ciudad de Guatemala; Cayalá.

El nombre de la escultura semi enterrada es Amanecer: El Gigante de Cayalá y su historia es la siguiente: "Esta escultura es una alegoría de la búsqueda de la felicidad. Se basa en una historia escrita por el propio escultor, que se desarrolla en Cayalá. En ella se narra cómo una niña salva un libro y un pergamino y, después de muchos años, sus nietos descifran la forma de despertar al gigante, que surge de la tierra para entregarles la llave de la felicidad. Este evento sucede después de que los niños practicaron las virtudes de justicia, templanza, fortaleza y tolerancia." (Wikipedia).

I was not aware of a luxury guatemala it never crossed my mind but these wonderful people have everything to offer their lifestyles are incredible just when you think you seen it all witytravels uncovers another hidden gem from this beautiful country called guatemala I really wasn't a big coffee drinker but because of witytravels exploring all the finest coffee shops I must admit that now I had to step my game up so now I drink coffee regularly so thank's witytravels for inspiring me and loved the Christmas theme sounds in the mall I know it's only November but it definitely puts you in that holiday spirit especially being their with the one you love, looking good together witytravels ♥️ ♥️, this luxury side of guatemala is definitely upscale and I was not expecting this it totally exceeded my expectations good job and exciting teamwork witytravels for pulling the curtain back on this amazing country and lifting up all the good people and their families and talented workers along the way it was masterful how you accomplish this and the statue of the man coming out of the ground was awesome I never seen that before it was definitely an unique sight to see thank goodness you had nice weather that day for filming and absolutely let's pump up this amazing channel to 3,000 subscriber's I am sure we can handle that we are praying and keeping the faith just like the prophet moses had when he parted the red sea and lead the Israelites god's chosen people to the promise land hallelujah and the fish and chips another one of my favorites looked so good and I am sure tasted delicious I got to admit when I saw you eating this I wanted to jump into the tv and join you lol, but yes witytravels this has been such an amazing and interesting experience into this incredible country called guatemala this place has everything and so much more than anyone could even imagine so thank you for this wonderful experience from this extraordinary country called guatemala 🔥 🔥

Wow. Horchata Coffee sounds great. loved the decor of the place. Oh my gosh, the festive vibe in the mall looks incredible. Eggnok Milkshake looks delicious. Loved that double decker Merry go round, oakland mall is absolutely incredible. Loved the christmas world.
Horchatta coffee was sooo good. We wish all malls were decorated like the one in Guatemala City. Eggnog is so good! Christmas world was amazing!

Coffee is always a great way to start the day and it works equally well for vlogs - you just can't beat a bit of coffee art! LOVE THE DOUBLE DECKER MERRY GO ROUND!! Cool that you're getting into the Christmas spirit so early - although with all those decorations and shops it's hard not to. That stretch Limo would look great parked next to my Porsche! 😂. Cayalá looks really interesting and very grand, glad you didn't get caught filming and kicked out! Another well edited vlog guys, the video flowed perfectly.
Coffee is definitely a NEED for us, but with the art on top, it becomes a WANT as well. The double decker merry go round was very cool. All of them should be like this. It's a shame ALL malls aren't decorated as nicely as this one. No need to wait until after Thanksgiving to put beautiful lights up. Well, when you go out for a night of too many Fantas and karaoke your driver can take you in your stretch limousine. The Porsche is more for cruising along the French Riviera. Yea, we haven't figured out why they are so strict on filming in Cayalá. It would really boost tourism if the whole world could see this area. Maybe they don't want that? Thanks Matt! You're the best!
@@WITYTRAVELS I completely agree about the Christmas lights, I always think they should be up by at least the 25th November, then we have a month until Christmas followed by the 12 days of Christmas. So much effort goes into putting them all up it would be nice if they stayed around a little longer.

Man, those coffees looked so good! I'm really into the sweet stuff. It's really nice to have a mall day every once in a while for a sense of familiarity. That statue in the end was awesome and Bernese dogs are the best! Fish and chips looked yummy af too. Can't wait to see what country's next for you guys! :-)))
Coffee in Guatemala. We love desserts and we had plenty in Guate. Ok, so that is the name of the dogs! They were so cute. Fish and Chips was legit. We already really liked when we had who fish at markets but never filmed it. New Country and video is now out!

Guatemala is very special to my family. We welcomed a girl my daughters age into our home in the U.S. and she has become family. She is from Guatemala City, Zone 13, and it is funny I came across this video because she is here visiting right now.

We stayed in a small family run hotel in Austria in the middle of the Alps, and they had two of those big, black, fluffy “mountain dogs“. They were beautiful!

Yes, the mall in Guatemala City was one of the nicest we have seen. If you don't like eggnog, you wouldn't like the milkshake! First time on those chairs; need to find more. We are fueled by coffee for sure! Didn't know the name, but we loved that Bernese mountain dog. Not bad fish and chips at all. Grab your coat before Poland!

That's awesome that they have a combo of horchata and coffee together. Have you guys been in Guatemala for 7 weeks then? Never seen red velvet coffee before, but it is visually striking indeed! Definitely feeling the Xmas spirit, sometimes it's hard to feel the change of seasons when traveling but that makes me realize the year is almost over. Why do they not allow filming in Cayala? It certainly does look beautfiul - one might even say LUXURIOUS!
Cofee + Horchata = Delicious. We were in Guatemala for 10 weeks. Red Velvet coffee was a first for us too. We don't know why they don't allow filming Cayala. It is an impression part of Guatemala City and it would for sure boost tourism if everyone could see it. TOTALLY LUXURIOUS!

Ok. Oakland mall is like a horse shoe, yall were only on one side of the horse shoe. In Cayala, iI guess yall missed the British double decker, and yall went where the chicken bus is. The double decker marks the land where the upscale and expensive restaurants are. The chicken bus marks the land where the most affordable restaurants are. I went to Cayibel where the chicken bus is. We where 7 people I treat every one, we ate like pigs and I spent only 70 dollars in Cayibel. Very affordable.
We tried to film everything in a day, so we're sure we missed a bunch. We see British Double Deckers in other counties, we had to spend as much time at the chicken bus as possible! That was quite a deal you had for 7 people. Thanks!

According to our Wikipedia via our Guatemalan friend Walter: The name of the semi-buried sculpture is Dawn: The Giant of Cayalá and its story is as follows: "This sculpture is an allegory of the search for happiness. El Injerto cafe looks interesting with different flavours of coffee. The city of Cayala is really charming, I am pretty sure you guys are going to hit that 3000 marks very soon. whoa 3 beers only for $7 thats awesome.

Fish & chips in Guatemala 😮
Sure nothing compares to fish and chips in the UK, but we were just pleasantly surprised to see it. Mostly as we have been traveling we do not see fish filets, just entire fish.

Guatemala is a big enough country to make much more profit from tourism. With careful and wise consideration, they can create many more resorts and hotels and parks for tourists. Honduras and Nicaragua also can, Belize and Costa Rica already do, the only country that has very limited land is El Salvador--even so they CAN develop some areas I have seen in videos to benefit from tourism.

Lamentablemente, nuestro país Guatemala padece de un alto índice de pobreza y de pobreza extrema, especialmente en los lugares más apartados y alejados del país, con un altísimo porcentaje de niños desnutridos, carreteras en pésimo estado que se hacen pedazos con unas cuantas lluvias, escuelas sin maestros y sin material didáctico y hospitales sin medicinas. Solo para mencionar algunos de los males que nos aquejan..... Las imágenes que aquí nos muestran es de una zona exclusiva en la Ciudad de Guatemala, dónde viven personas de alto poder adquisitivo, o con actitudes aspiracionales, pero que son un porcentaje minoritario de la población guatemalteca. Todo lo anterior derivado de la corrupción que cada vez más corroe a todos los estamentos del estado, pero también a la iniciativa privada. Triste reconocerlo pero es la realidad concreta. De echo, dos de los propietarios de Ciudad Cayalá, pertenecientes a la familia Leal, fueron acusados por la Comisión Internacional contra la Impunidad en Guatemala, de financiar de manera ilícita a la candidata Sandra Torres, de la cual uno de ellos fue candidato a vicepresidente. Al día de hoy ambos, padre e hijo, continúan prófugos de justicia.

Well since you brought it up…. We actually do eat meat, but we only eat kosher meat, like Jesus did. But that is very hard to find in Guatemala 😢 so no we are not better than Jesus, just trying to follow His example 💙🙏🏽
