With Nightwish yes, but her own stuff with ReVamp she does way more growling

Floor's answer when was questioned why she never loose her breath " i was blessed with the lungs of a deep sea diver " and no doubt about that .sometimes if she breath we don't notice cause is so smooth.

No idea what the definition of wholesome metal band is but they are the best band no matter genre
Floor developed her versatility over the years. In her first band 'After Forever' she sang mostly high notes as founder of the band Mark Jansen (no relation, Jansen is one of the most common names in The Netherlands) did the growling. He is now in the band Epica. After they disbanded she started her own band 'Revamp'. Here she began experimenting switching different sounds (also serious growling) within seconds. Good examples are 'Disdain' and 'Wild Card'.
Oh my god... she commands my TV too. The moment she said: "I'm very sure this song will..." a VERISURE ad popped up on my TV screen. Magic???

10-second passages are not uncommon for Floor to sing in one breath, although I think she does take a couple of micro-breaths in this passage, but with a very open throat so they are silent. Her techniques are all impeccable, and her shifting between them is totally seamless.
For growling: "yours is an empty hope"... but also: "Disdain", live by her previous band Revamp, live at Graspop (in 2010) I believe

Floor has a great voice and breath control. And she really knows how to use her voice - so versatile way to sing. She is singing very long notes for example in Ghost Love Score and Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean (some 10 seconds). High operatic voice or low growling - she has a capability to do everything between that. Amazing performer as the Nightwish band over all. They all know how to make us feel good with their songs. Enjoyable moments listening to them.
The last notes in her lock down version of Ave Maria (ruclips.net/video/Hbb8HwQuIso/видео.html) ends with 20-21 seconds without taking a breath as far as I can see. She uses examples of that song in het masterclass $4 (ruclips.net/video/XmgjkS84SAc/видео.html) , so if you have not seen that version you could react to that and then continue with her own explanations.

to hear her gutturaling herself, listen to "wildcard" by Revamp; there you can hear his clean voice since the times he uses gutturals in Nightwish it is almost always in chorus, great reaction. 😎

If you haven't seen it yet, try anything from the Wacken 2013 show. The band really peaked at that show, flawless. (And the Ghost Love Score version of that show is not by accident the most reacted-to music video on youtube. Not only of Nightwish but generally).

If it had been a flute, the surprise would have been genuine, as Troy does not count that among the many instruments he plays. He plays the low whistle and the tin (Irish) whistle, both in various tunings. The only known flautist among Nightwish is in fact Floor. Now that would really create a stir!
I'm so glad you did this song. It's just fun. I see both divas are in fine fettle for a little botanical eye candy to go with Floor's vocal candy.
This version is far less scrubbed up than others, and still sounds wonderful. It also means you can hear her breathe when she does, so yeah, I think she does have the lungs of a (very dainty and lovely) elephant.

I (like much of the NW army) have seen lots of NW reaction videos. You are the first I have seen to highlight the vocal backing tracks. My ears cannot pick them up (kudos to you). One request (feel free to ignore), I would be happy with you going back and replaying sections after your comments. However, I prefer that you do what you prefer and suits you. Take care
They are the most thought out and emotional band for me love the operatic and metal always have and kept me from depression over tha last year or 2 :-) Yours is empty hope for the growl nice reaction Floor knows how to drag my emotions lol and Toumas music is just awesome

I just realised there isn't a single swear word in Nightwish's discography... I mean, yes they do cover some darker topics but... hmm yeah I agree with you. Maybe Epica, Within Temptation?
Actually there is a singe 'fuck' in Master passion greed but that is indeed the only swear word in their whole discography :)

BTW I'm 6'1 as well & my lungs are so big that when I have had to get X-rays they have to do like a top & bottom film to get them all in. I have a suspicion Floor might also have these giant lungs. Mine are for swimming (and singing for fun now) but yeah she's a force of nature
Yours is an empty hope at Wembley. I'm sure I'm not the only one to say it. Also able to hear a taste of her growl ability in Ghost rivet at whembley as well
I actually have 3 suggestions for you:
1. As you seem to take quite an interest in the technical details of Floor’s singing and also breathing, check out “Shoemaker”. It is from their latest album and unfortunately, because of COVID, there is no live version of it yet. In an interview, she told this was among the most difficult songs she had sung so far for Nightwish. For the more lyrical part, she apparently said to Tuomas “When am I supposed to breathe?” and for the final part, she tried very hard to get it right in the studio, but was still not satisfied. Finally, recording it at home, she got it right.
2. Floor does not use her operatic voice so much, but there is one song she does entirely in operatic voice and that is Stargazers (take the live version from Tampere)
3. Finally, as a lot of other people already mentioned, to hear Floor growling, check out “Yours is an empty hope”, preferably the Wembley version.
You've got to do yours is an empty hope live at wembley. That performance is better than the other video, imo.
Best examples of Floor's full-on growls are probably not with Nightwish. There is her guest spot on the official live version of Let This River Flow by Soilwork where she does both clean and growled harmonies with their lead The song is an earworm too, definitely worth checking out on its own merits. There is ReVamp, her band at the time she joined NIghtwish, with its Wild Card (album) where she did quite a bit of growling, with 2014 Bloodstock live version of Wild Card (song) being the higher quality video. The only NW example is Yours Is Empty Hope - absolute banger, but perhaps not as good growling showcase as the others.
