    Gwyn is inspired by Zeus. Zeus loved to get freaky with mortal women and higher beings and that usually caused trouble. Therefore the idea of Gwyn banging a dragon is not surprising at all.
    Fun fact: here in Greece we have a saying when things go really wrong and it roughly translates to ''Zeus is fucking again''

    Perhaps Yorshka was the entire point of seeking the dragons out. Maybe he was hoping the child of a God and a Dragon would end up being powerful enough to save the flame. He might of been hoping to make a being with a dragon's elemental immortality and a god's power over souls, surely such a being could fuel the flame forever.
    If so he obviously failed. What a bitter realization that would of been. Bitter enough to lock the child away and never want anything to do with her perhaps?

    I just checked the japanese lines for yorshka, and she clearly states "私の兄", which literally means "my older brother", so yea, that is personal, and not a title (if it was a title it'd be written differently) so your logic is correct.

    • @coolbeans3635
      @coolbeans3635 7 лет назад +5

      isn't the nameless king the firstborn, thus making him the older brother? perhaps yorshka doesn't even know who he was since he dropped the annals of history due "to his foolishness".

    • @epryn
      @epryn 7 лет назад +8

      Presumably Yorshka is younger than both of them, so 兄 applies for either one, whether she knows about the Firstborn or not.

    • @sanfransiscon
      @sanfransiscon 7 лет назад +1

      Well that easily clears up the question of what she meant. I assume not much else was lost in translation, but this is just one of those cases where titles get confused.

    • @Ins4n1ty_
      @Ins4n1ty_ 7 лет назад +1

      yea, I went after the japanese lines exactly to check for a case of translation loss, but nope, she's mentioning her brother, because she used 私 (watashi) to say "me" (私の means "my"). If it was a title, she would've used a more archaic version of the word, 我 (waga) for "me", that clears up the ambiguity

    • @xXDarkxIdealsXx
      @xXDarkxIdealsXx 7 лет назад +2

      I can confirm this as mostly correct . 私 is the kanji for Watashi (a.k.a "i/me"). の is the kana for "no" which is just a connecting term basically equivalent to "of" in english and often implies ownership/connection between things, and then 兄 (ani) is a term for brother that is exclusively usen as a way of referring to the brother to others almost as a title, similar to "Otouto", whereas you would speak to your brother by calling him Oni instead of Ani which is only used when talking about him to others. Ani doesn't ALWAYS have to refer to an "older" brother, but it makes it pretty likely.
      Anyway, putting it all together you get "Watashi no Ani" which literally would translate as "My of Brother" but the correct translation would be "Brother of mine" or just "My Brother"

    It would make more sense for Yorshka and Gwyndolin to be children of the Firstborn Faraam and because he humped dragons, he was expelled from the annals and stripped of his deific status. That would make Gwyn a grandfather of Yorshka and Gwyndolin, it wouldnt be too unlike for them to call Gwyn as their father, since their real father Faraam had left/expelled. Also it's very likely that Gwyndolin and Yorshka were raised by Velka, Gwyn's wife and thus their grandmother. Velka is connected to the moon and so are Yorshka and Gwyndolin.. It would make sense that Gwyn would erase all records of his son Faraam humping dragons and producing crossbreeds.

    Perhaps its not actually through sexual relations she was born but maybe she was born from a lord soul. Gwyn gave a piece of his soul to Seathe. Seathe experimented on maidens. Gwyndoline was still in Anor Londo. So Seathe creates Yorshka with a piece of the Lord Gwyn Soul, Gwyndoline hides her away to protect her and names her Yorshka. Aldrich and Pontiff take over Anor Londo but cannot get Yorshka as she is hidden sparing her being devoured by Aldrich and ensuring the line of Gwyn continues.

    Gwyndolin's affinity for the moon might have been a reason why he was excluded from memorial, but I think the simple truth is that he was born long after Anor Londo was built while Gwyn's first two children were already of age before the founding of the city. When Gwyndolin had finally matured, all hell had done broke lose so erecting statues in his malformed likeness was not a priority, especially when it seems that running things discreetly was more to his liking.
    Gwyn consorting with dragon-kind as he presumably had in producing Yorshka might have been a catalyst for the first born leaving off in a huff if he had indeed rebelled. Note the miracle which the first born left behind was likely one which he had used many times to slay dragons, and as he wished farewell to his father he also put that part of his life behind him.
    Here's a macabre thought: What if the point of the crossbreed was using the immortality to create kindling that could feed the First Flame indefinitely?
    Perhaps Gwyndolin was lonely as he lost his father and both siblings vanished to parts unknown. When he met Yorshka he was delighted, and if the plan was to use her for linking the fire Gwyndolin might have abandoned it (either because he was resigned to the cycle, figured out the plan wouldn't work, or so damn lonesome being with family mattered more than the plan).

      00Boogie Infinite kindling was the reason Shanalotte was created by Aldia btw (although a failed attempt for reasons that escape me now; this is Dark Souls II). It's not as far fetched as you might think, but I doubt they would repeat the same idea again right in the sequence.

    "Father Gwyn" doesn't really click with being a religious meaning. In DS1, when people mentioned Gwyn with worship, they called him "Lord Gwyn", even though they were not his direct subjects (like Solaire or Siegmeyer). He was "Lord" even in the Way of White and Allfather was Lloyd, Gwyn's uncle.

  • @Voitan
    @Voitan 7 лет назад +4

    Adoption is more likely in my opinion, as Gwyndolyn gives her name, meaning Gwynn never interacted with her. My theory? She's either Ocelot, or a daughter of the half-breed, either way, she's part dragon, and now you have to unnecessarily justify Gwynn laying with his enemy, so she is NOT Gwynn's biological daughter, because Gwyndolin is the one who adopted her, and raised her to assume everyone else in the family as their role, ergo she refers to Gwynn as father. More simple than justifying Gwynn doing it with a Dragon, and Seath is male. Also, consider that in Japanese ONII-CHAN, older brother, is a very generally used term that doesn't necessarily mean an actual biologically tied family member.

    How about INCEST?!
    I'm quite astounded why no one ever thought about this!
    Go with me on this one.
    We know for a fact that Gwyn had 3 children at the moment that he became Lord of Cinder:
    * Firstborn - the nameless king.
    * Gwynevere - Princess of sunlight.
    * Gwyndolin - Dark sun.
    Since Gwyn became Lord of Cinder, he gone hollow.
    I assume he didn't have time to make kids due to the fact he had to sacrifice himself over and over again to prolong the age of fire.
    Now while Gwynevere and the nameless king do look very "God-like" and resemble Gwyn in terms of physical structure, Gwyndolin looks nothing like his father.
    So in this case I assume that they came from two different mothers, due to the fact him not looking anything like his other family members.
    Note that Gwyndolin has snakes instead of legs, and as we all know snakes have strong connection with dragons.
    Who else do we know that is related to dragons?
    Seath the scaleless? Even if he was female, I doubt that Gwyn would put his d*** inside that, aside from Seath being all messed up, Gwyn also hated dragons.
    How about Crossbreed Priscilla? She is a part dragon, that's even mentioned in her name FFS!
    Besides her tail, she looks nothing like a dragon, but she is part dragon.
    It's just the only viable option here:
    * She is assumed to be the daughter of Seath (a dragon).
    * She lives inside a painting which is very close geographically to where Gwyndolin is.
    * Why would Gwyndolin chose to locate himself to her if they weren't related?
    When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth?
    And the truth as I see it is:
    Crossbreed Priscilla + Gwyn = Gwyndolin !!!
    Now, moving on to Yorshka!
    As I already established, Gwyn can't be her father, due to the fact him being busy burned alive over and over again.
    Also other Gods have left Anor Londo... all besides one - Gwyndolin!
    So in this case I'm almost sure that Gwyndolin + Crossbreed Priscilla = Yorshka !!!
    Let's look at the other evidence:
    We know that Priscilla lived inside a painting, and she's the most likely candidate to give birth to Yorshka.
    Yorshka also has weird tentacles around her neck, and she is also very skinny and fragile looking, just like Gwyndolin.
    It all adds up!
    Yorshka and Gwyndolin are siblings for having the same mother - Priscilla.
    But Gwyndolin is also her father.
    The reason why it's not mentioned is to protect that poor girl.
    I don't think she would be happy to hear that "your brother is also your daddy".
    There are platy of more evidence, and I would share them tomorrow, if I'll manage to find this post :P

    I don't know if I've overlooked this but I'm sure there is nothing to support that Gwyn hated dragons. The only impression I get is that Gwyn wanted dominion over the world and to do that was to overthrow the dragons. To me it's more about conquest than hatred. As for the Nameless King siding with the dragons I get the feeling he did that because he saw honor and the way of the warrior in dragons (DS2 heavily implies warriors of honor with the way the dragon kin behave in the Dragon Shrine). Nameless King probably didn't see this in his father and when Gwyn saw this he might have gone into a rage seeing it as a huge insult to him personally especially considering it came from his son. Crossbreeding could have been straw that broke the camel's back but I don't subscribe to that as everything to do with Nameless King implies ascending to dragon's.

      Since we do not actually know what Gwyn was up to in those days, it is reasonable to concede we do not know if he is Yorshka's father, but from her dialog I would argue that she certainly thinks so - probably through her interactions with Gwyndolin; seeing that Gwyn's dislike for her, going so far as to deny her even her name and, presumably, all contact, suggests that she has no direct knowledge of "her father". That would also explain her reverence for her "youngest brother" to this day, who seems to have been the only one to acknowledge her existence and show her some basic kindness.
      It would all be much clearer, of course, if we knew who is speaking in the item descriptions - but, then again, speculation is the soul of the series, so to speak.

    My guess is that Yorshka was a part of Seaths imortality experiments , perhaps creating her with Gwyns essence along with his own,
    Gwyndolin would find her in Seaths chambers after Seaths mandatory defeat in Ds1,
    he would adopt her as his sister ( out of both pitty & lonelyness as the last remaining royal of Gwyns line)
    then he would anounce to the kingdom that Yorshka was another legitimate daughter of Gwyn (keeping the Seath bit secret)

  • @mariothane8754
    @mariothane8754 2 года назад +2

    If she’s the daughter of Priscilla, doesn’t that make Gwyn her great grandfather?
    So Father Gwyn isn’t entirely inaccurate.
    My theory: Priscilla had a child while in the painting, but due to the condition and it’s deterioration, she saw to make sure her daughter lived. We know her scythe is gone and so is most of the painting, but I imagine Gwyndolin didn’t know anything about Priscilla and the painting. When he did, found another family member when he was alone, and refusing to see her as an outcast, called her his sister instead.
    Hints towards her being from the painted world include the fact that she knows little of the outside world, because her world or the world she came from, was entirely fabricated.
    Left with little else, she became loyal to the last member of her family, Gwyndolin. He gave her her name and initiated her as a captain of his order in loyalty to the gods, teaching and speaking of Gwyn as Father Gwyn, making this both a religious and family connection for her.

    • @acrazyweeb7225

      Okay to add to your theory, there is a pyromancer we fight named “Livid Pyromancer Dunnel” in the painted world. In a very similar arena to that of Priscilla’s in DS1, we can find the Pyromancer’s Parting Flame whose description reads:
      “When Dunnel lost his hideous spouse, he gave his own pyromancy flame as an offering, which transformed into a parting flame. Not long after, Dunnel became a mad spirit, cursed to wander the lands.”
      Now while most of us love and adore our crossbreed, most probably thought she was a hideous being (after all, Ariamis was supposed to be a place for the things Gwyn and the other gods wanted out of sight.)
      TL;DR Priscilla probably had Yorshka with Dunnel

    Here is a theory, and I have nothing to base it on, but what if Priscilla was an experiment of Seathe; who stole the Nameless King's heart and they eloped against Gwyn's wishes. Gwyn banished Priscilla to the painted world, and the Nameless King exiled himself after his father linked the flame. Yorshka was born and found by Gwyndolin, who took her under his wing and hid her away with his illusions, raising his niece as his own sister and Gwyn's daughter. So Yorshka *believes* Gwyn is her father, or maybe even knows he is not, and "father" is shorthand for "grandfather". I don't think Lords of Cinder can have children after linking the flame... call it a hunch... but I feel that if Gwyndolin was Gwyn's last born during DS1, a point after Gwyn had linked the flame, he is still the youngest of Gwyn's own children.

    Bro, Gwyn's not Yorshka's father, but she thinks he is. She is Gwyndolin's half-sister and they share the same mother, not the same father.
    I think that Gwyn had two children with one mother (Gwynevere and the Firstborn) and one child with a different mother (Gwyndolin). Gwyndolin's mother has an unspecified number of children.

      Let's remember that character dialogue is suspect because Dark Souls characters have their own motivations to be honest or dishonest, and can have false understandings of things. However, item descriptions are supposed to be reliable.
      So, let's say you're Gwyndolin, you're obsessed with your dead father Gwyn and his legacy, you meet you cross-breed maternal half-sister, and you get along real well. I'd guess that you'd just tell Yorhska that her father is Gwyn too. Yorshka can believe and tell people that Gwyn's her father even if it's not actually true.
      Who is Gwyndolin's and Yorshka's mother, then? The Furtive Pygmy herself, Velka The Goddess of Sin.
      That's why the Dark SUN Gwyndolin is only leader and captain of the Blades of the Darkmoon, not the creator of it. That's why the Blades of the Darkmoon use Velka's Book of the Guilty that Velka's own Pardoner peddles. Because Darkmoon Velka the Goddess of Sin originally created the Blades of the Darkmoon before fleeing Anor Londo. That's why she raised her son, Gwyndolin, as a girl whilst his father was absent linking the flame. He learned moon magic from his black-haired witch mother instead of lightning bolt stories from his already-cinder father.
      It seems reasonable to assume that Yorshka and Priscilla share at least one parent. Considering Priscilla's dagger, cut from her own tail, deals Occult (aka Dark) damage it would make sense that the original heir to the Dark Soul could be her mother.
      Also, Oswald of Carim is definitely doing a unique pose that the player never acquires (the emote he gives the player is similar but indisputably a different pose than he idles in). This pose that he idles in is totally a reverse Praise the Sun.

    • @scott_chocolate
      @scott_chocolate 7 лет назад +1

      So, to recap:
      Velka's pardoner sells Velka's Book of the Guilty and does a Praise the Moon pose.
      Blades of the Darkmoon use the very same book.
      Blades of the Darkmoon are lead by the Dark Sun Gwyndolin.
      Priscilla possesses life hunt that the gods fear and her dagger does Occult (Dark) damage.
      Yorshka and Gwyndolin accept each other as siblings. Suggesting at least one shared parent.
      Item descriptions from DS1 prohibit Priscilla and Yorshka from being fathered by Gwyn.
      Therefore, Gwyndolin must (hypothetically) share the same father as Gwynevere and the Firstborn, and share the same mother as Priscilla and Yorshka (and possibly others).
      hashtag Darkmoon Velka Goddess of Sin.

      Eh, no not really. Gwyn is above the most likely candidate for her father. According to dialogue and the item descriptions.

    • @scott_chocolate
      @scott_chocolate 7 лет назад +2

      The item description changes you mention here in your video don't necessitate retconning DS1 lore. DS1 item descriptions establish two fixed points: a first born and a last born. They don't allow for a child to be younger than Gwydnolin or a child older than the first born. It does not explicitly state anywhere that Gwynevere was Gwyn's only daughter nor that he only had three children. Gwynevere's just the only one we ever hear of.
      The changes in DS3 item descriptions that you mention are looser and allow for Gwyn to have a younger child than Gwyndolin but does not guarantee it either. "Eldest daughter" does seem to imply that Gwyn had more than one daughter. Without retconning DS1 lore any younger sister of Gwynevere would have to be older sister to Gwyndolin.
      Yorshka states that Gwyndolin is her older brother. Either they retconned DS1, she is misinformed as to how old she is compared to Gwyndolin, or she is misinformed on who her true biological father is.
      You're suggesting they retconned DS1. I think that Yorshka is just misinformed as to who her biological father is.

    • @scott_chocolate
      @scott_chocolate 7 лет назад +3

      Also, Yorshka seems to be quite similar to Priscilla. You yourself say that it's obvious she's a crossbreed, yet only Priscilla is actually described as a crossbreed.
      We know that Priscilla's tail did Occult damage a.k.a. Dark damage.
      So... Gwyn + Dragon = Dark?
      I think it's more likely that Velka + Dragon = Dark.
      Your points about both Yorshka and Gwyndolin both appearing similarly frail still stand if they share the same mother.
      Gwyndolin seems to take much more after his mother (whoever she was) than his father considering the size and constitution of Gwyn, The Nameless King, and other members of his royal line like Rosaria and possibly the Dancer of Boreal Valley.
      From his mother Gwyndolin inherited moonlight sorcery instead of his father's lightning. He's also quite human-sized compared to his siblings and father. Perhaps that's because he takes more after his mother who was a furtive black-haired witch pygmy.

    Hear me out.
    Oceirus had a child with which is believed to be gwynivere. And she ran away for unknown reasons. Since it is believed oceirus only had another child for power it would make sense that gwynivere ran away with the child. And brought it to here brother. Without parents and without a name, which she later got. As yorshka's bell says: "the chime of the bell helped soothing her loneliness." So she allready was in the tower. Far away from her father, and far away from her real brothers curse. Which didn't work because although yorshka can stand, she always sits and is unable to get out of the tower while there is a way out. But because they have to keep it a secret, she's taught that gwyndolin is her brother. When you take a look at the moonlight greatsword, it is statet that oceirus always wanted moonlight which never showed itself to him. And yorshka gives you the darkmoon blade. And this wouldn't be the first time gwynivere had a crossbreed. There was Priscilla which was a crossbreed between seth and gwynivere, ans oceirus is an offspring from seth i believe. I bet there is more to be found about this. But this is all i got

    Yorshka is Gwyndolin's sister by mother and not by father. Gwyn probably had many wives/mistresses as the "allfather" gods like Zeus and Odin tend to have, and Gwyndolin's mother probably isn't the same mother to Gwynevere, Nameless King and Filianore

    =Warning= This is going to be long. =Warning=
    What if Yorshka is Gwyndolin's and Priscilla's daughter instead? Filianore would be the youngest daughter of Gwyn, so the items description would be about her.
    This would explain why she was named by Gwyndolin himself. As for why Yorshka is naive and hidden away, it is because the Gods and Royal family fears her heritage. Being hidden away from birth, she had no connection to the outside world, not knowing anything.
    Priscilla, canonically, did not die by the chosen undead's hand. She, should have died alongside the rotting world, but instead, she may have left to make sure the next painter would paint the world. This would explain why there is something similar to her tower in Ariandel itself, when the Painter should have painted a new world, not knowing how the previous one looks.
    In that time she was outside, she met Gwyndolin and bore his child, Yorshka. This would also explain why Gwyndolin's health suddenly took a wrong turn. Her very soul was meant to destroy them and the gods. Being affected by this, his body weakened, this resulted in Yorshka also being affected by the same sickness, alhough she has resistance to it, being the case that she is a halfbreed herself, making her only frail rather than near-death.
    Then why does she call Gwyn her father and Gwyndolin her Brother? It was because Gwyndolin knew he would soon die. He wanted to make her a direct descendant to Gwyn himself so that she would be considered as important as the other children of Gwyn, it would reduce the amount of beings that would harm her.
    Aldrich's ability, Lifehunt Scythe, it was a weapon created from Priscilla's very soul. Gwyndolin, who was together with Priscilla for some time and was affected greatly by Priscilla's soul, resulted in Aldrich who devoured Gwyndolin's soul to have gained a similar ability.
    Yorshka being Priscilla's daughter might be the reason why Sulyvhan did not give Yorshka to Aldrich to devour.
    Residents of the painting would be drawn towards it when they have lost something. Sulyvhan did not lose anything, so he left the painting. But by leaving the painting, he had lost his home. Although he roamed to create a new home, being drawn to the painting as they lose something was ingrained to his very being. This would be why Frost Sorcery exist around Sulyvhan and used by so many of his knights, even though he had abandoned it.Then he found Yorshka, the child of the one who led to his worlds creation, his existence. She was the one who can bring him back to that world.

    Even if DS3 caused a lot of confusion in the playerbase, I think that's due to some inexact translations of DS1, and some cemented wrong ideas that the community had developed based on the less resolved lore of DS1: for example:
    - It was Gwyndolin, not Gwyn, to exile the Nameless King (as the description about the omage on the tomb suggest, Gwyn had already linked the fire); the plot against the gods is really more likely to have been organized by Havel against The Nameless because of his strenghtening relationship with dragons; in fact Gwyn at some point used wyverns, like those blue with lightning power in defence or New Londo seal
    - With those white barbs, Yorshka surely descend from Seath, the only pale dragon; she is probably daughter of Gwyn and Priscilla, Priscilla being the daughter or creation of Seath and Velka (because she has an occult weapon in the tail)
    - the only flying things Yorshka knows are crows and dragons; I think this implies that she lived the most of her life in Ariamis, and was taken out at some point by Gwyndolin, because she was his sister or half sister, he taught her about Gwyn and the Darkmoon Blades and give her a new name

    Here's my take, though I confess that it is rather convoluted. I believe Gwyndolin is the son of Gwyn's wife and Seathe the Scaleless. With Seathe's known proclivities, it is possible that he may have engaged in forceful relations with the wife of Gwyn. As Gwyn is known to have been a prideful and capricious man, it would not be surprising to me if Gwyn's wife were to not inform her husband of her experience to avoid his wrath. From that point, Gwyndolin would have been falsely considered to be the legitimate son of Lord Gwyn. Regardless, Gwyndolin shares a physical resemblance to Seathe's deformities, usage of sorcery, and his affinity to the moon, which would not seem to heritable from any other known source. Nonetheless, he still retains are relatively human appearance. This brings me to Priscilla, whose draconic qualities are also indicative of a blood relation to Seathe the Scaleless. Based on temporal context, I believe that Priscilla was Gwyndolin's twin. Only, Priscilla's powers of lifehunt and draconic qualities compelled her mother to hide her away from Gwyn as she was living proof of her relations with Seathe. What's strange is that both Priscilla and Gwyndolin are both killable enemies in the original Dark Souls. Thus, I propose, and I confess that this is a stretch, that based upon the convoluted timelines of the Dark Souls universe, the Gwyndolin and Yorshka of Dark Souls III are the products of an alternate timeline. A timeline in which Gwyndolin and his twin were reunited, where Priscilla was not abandoned in the Painted World but was instead able to live alongside her brother and granted the name of Yorshka.
    Side note: Gwyn expunged his son from history in the wake of his betrayal, thus I do not think that he would ever consort with dragons.
    This is merely a perspective but I hope that it could add to the discussion.

    Rosaria's powers were used on Priscilla making here a "new" god and hence why she is being saved to be fed to aldritch later after he has devoured all of the "old" gods such as Gwyndolin. That is why she comes off as similar and why Gwyndolin had to give here a name. I always believed that after the painting was set aflame Priscilla got out or was forced out of the painting for one reason or another and Gwyndolin saved her for the fact that he was all alone now and sensed part of his father Gwyn's power still residing in her so he felt a bond. He even attempted to defend her and in doing so ended up being fed to Aldritch when he failed to defeat Aldritch and his allies.

    I don't think Yorshka is Gwyn's biological child, especially since the lore shows that Filianore was Gwyn's last daughter, gifted to the Ring City, whose knights were used to fight the dragons. Gwyn wouldn't bang a dragon, the evidence just isn't there. Many people speculate that that she may also be the daughter of Gwyndolin and Priscilla but too much doesn't line up with this interpretation, such as why Yorshka doesn't have any of the defining physical features of Gwyndolin (the snake legs or gray hair) or the physical features of her mother (such as the fur, white hair, and lack of neck tentacles) nor why Yorshka would not possess her mother lifehunt ability, as well as ignoring the fact that Gwyndolin's implied last memory of Priscilla is her being hidden away in the painting world. It also completely defies sexual biology, at least by real world standard, I doubt gods could procreate with dragons any better than humans could procreate with alligators; it just doesn't work.
    That being said, there's some evidence to suggest that Seath created the crossbreeds, or at least Priscilla, and really when you take out the idea of demigods fucking dragons, science is the only solution left for such a creation. So imagine this course of events:
    1. Gwyn has four children during the war against the dragons: Nameless King, Gwynevere, Gwyndolin, and Filianore. Nameless King betrays his father and goes off to side with the dragons.
    2. For his actions during the war, Gwyn gives Seath dukedom and a laboratory. Seath goes on the try and create a Dragon/God hybrid by crossing the DNA of his own kind (likely himself) and the gods (based on physical looks, I'd say he used Gwynevere's for Priscilla and Filianore's for Yorshka, since they're physical traits are similar). This generates two crossbreed children, Priscilla and Yorshka. Filianore is then gifted to the Ringed City.
    3. Gwyn adopts Priscilla and Yorshka to replace his two lost children, with Gwynevere and Gwyndolin acting as their caretakers.
    4. It is eventually discovered that Priscilla possesses the lifehunt ability, and fearing such a thing, Gwyn casts her out. Priscilla is then drawn to the painting world, where she is watched over by (presumably) Velka and the painting is placed in a temple and given personal guards by her loving sister Gwynevere.
    This is the theory I'm sticking with, as it explains how crossbreeds were made, why the two look so different, why Priscilla's painting is guarded in Gwynevere's temple, and why Yorshka calls Gwyn father and Gwyndolin brother, as well as why Gwyndolin's last thoughts of Priscilla are the ones where she is hidden away due to here ability.

  • @heyou2424

    It makes more sense that Yorshka is more like a successful experiment of a Lord and Dragon hybrid than actually been conceived. You can see evidence of said experiments throughout the whole series but most if not all were failures. Seath was researching into immortality and Gywn was looking to do anything to drive the dark away (hence adopting a dragon and putting it at the source to combat it). So it wouldnt be shocking if Gywn gave his own blood to Seath to create a hybrid OR Seath created the hybrid from Gywn's soul when he gave a part of it to him as a reward.
    So in a sense, Yorshka doesnt have a mother. She is related to Gwyn by blood but was created by Seath's magic.

    Gwyndolin was a pale Moon Deity with serpent legs. Both Priscilla and Yorshka are pale and bathed in moonlight. Seethe made the Moonlight Butterfly and you get the Moonlight greatsword from him in the first game and Aldrich who ate Gwyndolin in the third game. Seethe is referred to as male but gender seems to work differently for dragons, not to mention he was obsessed with women presumably because they could give birth and create life and Seethe was obsessed with immortality.

    One thing I think might be possible is that Yorshka was not born yet when Gwyn chose to become cinder (she recites the tale of how Gwyn became cinder rather... emotionless, I feel, which leads me to think that Gwyndolin told her of the tale without her witnessing it herself). If you think of it this way then the only persons left at Anor Londo at this moment were Gwyndolin and the mother of Yorshka (the firstborn already left long before that and Gwynevere was also gone at this moment). I mean, we can not expect the pregnancy of a fictional race in a videogame to last exactly as long as a human pregnancy so it would be a possibility.
    This would also explain the fact of Yorshka being named by Gwyndolin, either because her mother was unable to name her (maybe she died giving birth or she abandoned the child) or the old "gods" of Lordran had the custom of the male successor of the family deciding on the name (which would make sense because Dark Souls is pretty much centered around the medieval thematic).
    Another theory I'd find plausible in this context would be that Gwyndolin and Yorshka only share the same mother, which would also explain why Yorshka was born after Gwyn became cinder. Maybe the next DLC will bring some news about Gwyns family, because we have next to no clues about his wife yet, have we?

    I like the theory that Yorshka is the offspring of Gwyn and Priscilla (a mistress he kept hidden away from the world). That Yorshka was taken from her mother at birth and was stashed away by Gwyn to retain his image as a dragon slayer deity who wouldnt bed with a, supposedly, mix breed like Priscilla.
    I also believe that the first born son is the Nameless King and i like to think he perhaps went against his father's wishes to learn more about the dragons as a way to understand the cycle that seems to repeat itself over and over. Maybe the myths of the age of ancients made him ponder the natural order of the DS universe and maybe consider the inevitably of the age of darkness or even yet another fog covered age of ancients.
    Maybe in his mind sharing power with the dragons or even dominating them to become dragon riders was his way to retain some of the deistic powers bestowed upon his kin because of the lord souls. I believe he shared his father's fears of mankind bringing the age of darkness, so the only other option left would be to guide the cycle to reform the age of ancients with the gods of the last age ruling over the new form of dragons.
    Gwyn takes exception with the thought of reviving the species that he views as his greatest enemy, especially the idea of sharing power with them. His son may have tried to convince him of this course of action, explaining his theories on the constant cycle of ages. This led to Gwyn's actions of stripping his oldest son of all status and even his name, but maybe the seed of doubt had been planted about the age of fire ending. a doubt that would eventually lead to his desperate attempt to rekindle the fire using his own soul

    I like the theory that Gwyndolin and Yorshka (=Priscilla) are not true children of Gwyn but are passed off as his children, forcing him to begrudgingly kinda accept them but feeling something is off to a point where he doesn't really recognize them as true heirs. In that theory his wife (Velka) had Yorshka and possibly also Gwyndolin with Seath. It certainly does explain why Yorshka is hidden and Gwyndolin is shunned and why while his first two children have powers of fire and lightning, these two are associated with the Dark Moon. A betrayal of this sort would also fit with DS' tendency to have the mighty, noble king and his twisted, secretly antagonistic wife (major, major theme in DS2). Although - ironically - these two (along with the even more mysterious Filianore) are the children that will uphold Gwyn's wishes the most, Gwyndolin inheriting his rule, Yorshka leading the Darkmoon Blades in a quest to protect those that link the flame as "such is father's will" while both the firstborne and Gwynevere leave Gwyn's side. Gwynevere to marry another Godking, the nameless to go over to his father's enemies.
    It's interesting though that the first three children are (presumably in the case of the firstborne) named after Gwyn with Yorshka breaking that tradition - Filianore too doesn't inherit Gwyns name but we know very little about her I guess...

    Or : Gwyndolin isn't Gwyn's son. It was Yorshka originally, and she got replaced by Gwyndolin as Gwyn's child. Another reason why Gwyndolin was raised as a daughter maybe?

    Rather being Gwin's daughter, Yorshka may actually be Gwindolin secret child simply because he gives her her name. Gwin has 2 daughter (Gwinevere and Filianor) both has some kind of position as god (Lodric's prince blood line and Ring city eternal existence) while Yorshka seem to appear much later after Gwin death and recently named by Gwindolin. More over she has strong resemblance with Priscilla, so it's obvious she is Priscilla daughter. To conclude, either she is Gwindolin and Priscilla daughter or being adopted into family for some unknown reason (nameless king's daughter, Seath's daughter).

    I think that yorshka is the daughter of fillianore and oceiros which is why she is a lesser crossbreed than Pricilla and doesn't have the large stature Pricilla inherited from gwynevere or the more prominent features that Pricilla has but before growing up fillianore was given to the Pygmy's along with the ringed city and yorshka was taken in by Gwyndolin before he took the place of last daughter fillianore to hide gwynns deal with the pygmys and keep yorshka hidden from the world for her safety but also from Gwynn to keep from being put in the painting

    maybe linking the fire is Gwyn's second plan
    the first plan is to give his people the abilities of dragons so they can live beyond the age of fire. we know that seath was searching for away to be immortal without scales maybe Gwyn asked him to find away for his race to obtain immortality. I dont believe yorshka is Gwyn's biological daughter but she is his daughter since he gave her life maybe Gwendoline is a failed experiment?that will explain his legs and how he is not hollow like the nameless king(he is immortal like a dragon) and thats why Gwyn is hidden him so people don't see him a traitor.The nameless king didnt like gow Gwyn was ashamed of his son(Gwendoline) so he told the people about his brother, Gwyn felt "betrayed" by his son so he exiled him. after having a dragon bother, the nameless king started to see dragons differently that he became a friend with one of them

    I wonder if perhaps Nameless King fathered Priscilla with a dragon, and Gwyn fathered Yorshka with Priscilla? Yorshka is smaller and more frail than Priscilla, so it would make sense if Yorshka is only 1/4 dragon. If Yorshka grew up in the painted world, that also would explain why she has so little life experience. Perhaps Gwyndolin breaking into the painted world to retrieve the last of Gwyn's offspring (in a desperate attempt to keep the royal line going in Anor Londo) is what released the corvians into the land?

    Some solid lore theory here and actually helps me with my own head lore. As of right now, I'm thinking Yorshika was the daughter of Gwyndolin and Priscilla, had in secret or possible after Gwyn linked the fire. Gwyndolin, hiding her true origins, tells her he is her brother, names her and raises her to carry on his legacy

  • @newpardingam6853
    @newpardingam6853 7 лет назад

    Now this is quite an interesting concept you found there. If Gwyndolin and Yorshka are so closely related that might explain why Gwyndolin has those Serpent legs, since he might be related to the dragons aswell. Note that while the firstborn son and Gwynevere are both associated with sunlight, Gwyndolin is associated with the moon and so should be Yorshka, judging by her pale appearance and white clothing contrasted to f.e. Gwyneveres rather golden aura. Yet, it remains questionable whether Priscilla could be Yorshkas (and maybe Gwyndolins) mother, although Priscilla and Yorshka look very similar.

  • @andrewbowen2837
    @andrewbowen2837 7 лет назад

    what if gwyndolin adopted her and raised her as his sister, teaching her that her father was Gwyn and all that? After all, Gwyndolin was the last one in Anor Londo, and it could get pretty lonely, so maybe he went into the painted world and got yorshka

  • @ErikValhalla

    perhaps it is possible that Gwynevere became the Dancer of the Boreal Valley considering it's said the veil is worn by direct descendants of the old royal family?

    Anyone notice how Yorshka’s crown is very similar to Filianore’s crest? The spear of the church covenant item... Filianore who holds an illusion over the ringed city much like Gwyndolyn did Anor Londo... a curious coincidence or something more?

    I Just Had an Idea!
    So I mentioned in another vid that the creation story of DS mirrors the Shinto Creation story. so if Gwyndolin is Yorshka's ELDER Brother, who comes after her? cut to how the Witch of Izalith "died" trying to restart the First Flame. but she also had a Son who was Burning from birth. if Ceaseless Discharge is the last born of Gwyn and the Witch, and with the bad habit of gods in most mythologies to lay around, He could be Yorshka's little brother.

    I'm not sure what to think about this theory anymore now that we have been introduced to Filianore. At least we know that not all of Gwyn's children were mentioned in DS1. I think that Yorshka is actually the being who was in the egg that Filianore holds. After all, there are images of Gwyndolin carved into Filianores church doors. Has to mean something right.

    If Dragons don't have sexuality, i mean, male dragons and female dragons, and they are just dragons and can make baby dragons with every dragon that exist, Seath can be the mother of yorshka and priscila, no one think in that possibility?

    It would seem yoshka and gwyndolyn have the same parents as gwyndolyn has snakes as his lower half and snakes are serpents which are under developed dragons. Plus I think that they may have been conceived via a melding of soul fragments as Gwyn did split his soul. What if he was trying to stop the dark by combining gods and dragons, like Aldia was trying to do in ds2? It is shown that beings can be made via combining souls in Aldias keep.

    Yorshka may be adopted. She is probably offspring of Priscilla, therefore descending from Gwynevere (thus belonging to the royal family). Gwynn may have adopted her later in his life. That is why Gwyndolyn gave her "her name" as well.

    ya know sunlight blades wording makes it sound like gwyn was already dead when his son lost his status as a deity. which begs the question of whether its poor wording or if that's intentional. even better question is if gwyn was gone by that time then who stripped his son of his status?

    We don't know Yorshka lacked a name before Gwyndolin gave her that one. He could have given her a new name.
    Also, I'd have to go back and check a few things, but I seem to remember a theory that Gwyndolin was fathered by Weather and Gwyn's wife covered it up and claimed he was Gwyn's. This would imply that Yorshka's father might also be Weather, and that she, Gwyndolin and Priscilla are only half siblings of Gwynevere and the Nameless King.
    I'm curious who Yorshka's mother might be. The obvious candidate is Gwyn's wife, but with the theory of Priscilla's mother being Gwynevere I can't rule out that she's Yorshka's mother as well.

    With reguards to how crossbreeds and godly children are made, we gotta keep in mind were looking at beings that take after mythologies and religions of our own world. Yes, many gods were known to have sex and make children that way, but the gods of many religions were known to make children in all sorts of ways from any body part imaginable. Sometimes even by accident, like, the ancient gods could get pricked by a thorn and suddenly up pops a half-plant god-baby. That's not even counting the ones where a god masterbates something into existence.
    I'm just saying, knowing how these stories work, there's a chance that one hot day Gwyn wiped sweat from his brow, a drop fell onto one of Ornstein's trophy dragon heads, and suddenly he has a crossbreed daughter he doesn't want to deal with.

    there is too many ifs here to be taken with certainty. more than usual. Now we know that changes on Gwyn's offspring number is due to Filianore being Gwyn's youngest daughter that he left in the Ringed City taking care of the dark soul. Gwendolyn and Yorshka are brothers but I believe that has more to do with sharing their mother and not their father. still its fun to speculate

      I do always thought she was Ocelotte, and Gwyndolin just raised him the way he was raised. I had no info to disprove this or prove it, only suspicion. The whole baby in the hands of Ocerios I thought was just an effect to make you come to understand his madness a little. I don't really have any evidence to prove or disprove that one aswell, so this is all left in uncertainty. Unless I missed something, I am willing to admit I am wrong if it is so.

      The Ashen Hollow Well you can say that gwyndolin was also raised as a Girl so maybe the same with yorshka and that the Sound we here when fighting oceiros is just an Spell which makes this sounds (i dont remember the name of the sorcery but the one which lures enemy to a specific place)
      Maybe casted by a deacon or pontiff to be sure that oceiros doesnt interrupt the aldrich when he eats the Gods
      So I think that its possible that gwyndolin kinda adoppted yorshka to save her/him from her Father gave her a new name so ocelot changed into yorshka

    I personally believe that Priscilla and Yorshka are daughters of the nameless king, Priscilla being his daughter from before the age of fire, thrown into a painting instead of being killed due to Gwyndolin's interference, commissioning the painting from Ariamus and telling his father that they could throw her in there instead, because he had no grievances with the nameless king and his firstborn and not wanting her to have to die for his father's mistakes, then after Gwyn died he had a second child, Yorshka, and feeling his mind slipping due to his hollowing state he gave his daughter to Gwyndolin, telling him to raise her as a sister so that she would never need to question her parentage.

    • @TheAshenHollow
      @TheAshenHollow  7 лет назад +1

      +Captain Homosexual
      Possibly, the two inconsistencies I see here though are that if they are the firstborn's children then that is exactly what got him expelled from Anor Londo, but Gwyn was dead and gone by that time. And Priscilla wasn't thrown into the painting, she fled there to hide. Hope that helps your thoughts! =)

    To me there are a few interesting things I am forced to ponder: For one, she says something along the line of Father Gwyn and the gods... could this be asserting that there is some god equal or higher than Gwyn? We know so little of other gods, or whatever their species could be called. The other thing is the first born son being stripped of his title and kicked out after his father's death... Most classical (at least mid to late medieval and beyond) royalty functions via the laws of primogenitor, ie the first born son inherits the father's titles, position, and power. So... who had the authority to consider him a traitor? He would literally be the king. Personally, my best guess is that Gwyndolin usurped his throne and chased away Gwynevere, replacing her with an illusion to maintain control for himself. But, then, its never explicitly stated one way or another.
