- In recent days, a new infection seems to have awakened, affecting the children who have either been diagnosed or were treated with the Coronavirus before. Kawasaki disease was found in the US & Europe in April and now it seems to have crept in India with the cases emerging in Delhi and Mumbai.
Kawasaki disease is a rare illness that causes blood vessels to become inflamed which primarily affects infants and young children mostly aged below 5. It’s one of the leading causes of heart disease in kids.
The inflammation of Kawasaki disease can damage a child’s coronary arteries, which carry blood to their heart. It can also cause problems with lymph nodes, skin, and the lining of a child’s mouth, nose, and throat. Watch the video & find out more about this disease.

My daughter had this at 1.5 months of age 20 years ago. It was quite scary. White skin, blood shot eyes and lips, and fever. Ultrasound of her heart confirmed Kawasaki's disease. She was in the hospital for 3 days. Doctors monitored her heart all night expecting she might have a heart attack from her swollen arteries. I just cried all night at the hospital. The children's hospital treated her with Glama globulin. She perked up the next day. Praise God that He provided doctors with knowledge to cure this disease.
