Bette Davis was one of the greatest actresses. She was so open and honest in her interviews. There was nothing fake about her. She truly loved acting. As she always mentioned----she fought for good movie roles, the amount of money came later.....she was one of a kind.
Absolutely! I agree with you, she was the best. What I like about her the most is that she wasn't full of herself even tho she had a right for being such incredible actress. It's sad that Bette was betrayed by her own daughter when she wrote that book. B.D broke Bette's heart so much that Bette never spoke to her ever again.
I recall seeing this when it first aired - Better Davis was THE STAR no question about it! Incidentally, it's worth noting that there was another legend in that room (in the beginning of the show). The great fashion designer of countless Hollywood films - Edith Head. Miss Head had been Oscar nominated a jaw-dropping thirty-five times over her very long career - eight times a winner. One of her Oscar wins came from one of Bette's best pictures - "All About Eve," from 1950. It's not surprising that Bette would want to work with her again. Cheers and thanks for the great post!
I love u Bette u are so missed think a lot of people didn't like u cos u didnt bow down to them they got wot they got someone who didn't crawl u got were u were for yr Amazing Talent I think u could play any part I loved u as the Owner of Hotel too with James Brolin yr greatly missed Bette RIP BEAUTIFUL LADY
When I see her face here, I find it almost unbelievable that she played all those great roles such as Regina Giddons, Queen Elizabeth I, Margo Channing et al: what a bloody GENIUS was Miss Bette Davis
Wow I love this reunion so much! It’s almost impossible to think they actually did this! My most favourite is when Paul Henreid came and with his accent 🥰😍
When I first saw Now, Voyager.....and saw Paul Henreid I had such a crush on him. I thought he was so handsome and loved his accent...such a great movie!!!
I enjoyed this immensely. Thank you. Bette didn’t like doing this, she hated it but went on with it anyway. A trooper. I love her she’s so genuine. Olivia looked like an angel in here. Well, Bette said she looked marvelous. 💖
Nostalgia overload and how wonderful, deep breath cos so many are gone from the big screen and my family and friends. I so enjoyed this episode of This Is Your Life! Pain and sadness truly does make us grow strong if we can survive it. regards Hayden a survivor.
I bet that at least one old lady in the audience was whisked back in time to being a young girl again, buying movie star magazines with Bette Davis on the cover. 🥰
What I find so amazing is that Oliva De Havilland is STILL alive at 102...and going strong by all accounts. Her interviews in her 90s show her strong and clear, amazing!
"I WHOLE HEARTEDLY AGREE WITH YOUR COMMENT THAT IS MOST CERTAINLY "AMAZING" THAT THE LOVELY#OLIVIA#De#HAVILLAND, IS STILL ALIVE, "AND" WELL.....AT 102....." ..AND.....FOR THIS I AM VERY GRATEFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!! #2018.....
To be fair, the 90s was almost 30 years ago so that's like saying Bob Hope was healthy and robust in the 60s. Of course he was it was a million years ago! However it truly is beautiful she's still alive.
Bette seemed genuinely moved--especially by the cast of friends who turned out for the occasion. Their enduring admiration for one another demonstrated a personal glimpse of Bette Davis that's usually overshadowed by her ferocious drive, artistic passion, and legend. --"She did it the hard way...."
Could be -- although I've seen interviews where she said that as an old-school New Englander, she wasn't really demonstrative around most people in her personal life; she wasn't a big hugger or kisser, and she didn't show her feelings a lot. So maybe she's just being her usual reserved self here -- although she does seem to let her guard down a little for Olivia Olivia de Havilland.
I'd be glad at the moment for a cigarette for sure all that attention & focus when she had other plans than this! ✨️So glad to see this love her, overwhelmed bless her heart love her willingness to be scary and ugly on screen back then huge. Whatta dame 🤗✨️🌟
Multi-faceted character heavy weight actress. Stunning. It made me cry so much the way her characters hid their emotions to other characters in her films that didn't have a clue how intensely her character loved them, before she got older and sexist Hollywood type cast her wrongly as villains that were not layered or complex.
The set was so awkward. Here, have a seat on half of this yellow chair (the other half is for your coat and purse) and we'll have your friends and family squat on a built-in laminate end table....!
I remember this from when it first ran. And I will always remember how at minute 16 when Paul Heinreid is going to share a cigarette with Bette, she has to take a big drag from hers first. "Feud" said she smoked up to 100 cigarettes a day.
I especially liked the moment with William Wyler. IMO, she did her best pictures with him. While almost all of Davis’s performances were great, she had a tendency to go over the top. Wyler didn’t allow it. He made sure that she stayed true to the character, and her performances with him were unbeatable.
I love all of Bette's movies. When I was a kid my mom and I watched all the movies with Bette Davis, Joan Crawford, Olivia DeHavilland, etc. I still watch them if I can find a channel who still shows then. Bette does seem somewhat standoffish, but that's just her personality!!!
I think she was very polite despite the fact that their production meeting was suddenly interrupted by Ralph Edwards. She even made space for Edwards in the couch she was sitting on.
@@angelzap100 It makes sense, rather Oliva de Havilland than Oliva Newton John ! How do you assess her now after the recent immersion? What do you think of her as a human being? Bette Davis was the best actress that Holywood ever exposed us to. Such amazing talent and most intelligent which makes her so beautiful.
So straightforward, authentic, a great star! Let's think about today's phony, incompetent actors...😢
This footage is priceless. what a revelation to see Bette Davis and her sister together.
Betty....a real actress. No diva she. RIP
Damn!! She was total class..won't see this again folks....

First time seeing this. Great to see all the amazing talents she worked with.
She was a goddess, she still is...
She was so real! Not 1 fake thing about her. How refreshing when you see what so called talent we have today

She looked really lovely here. Love those black gloves.

Hi Red glad you like it 👌
I enjoyed this! I've see all her movies and today I am still watching them. They are timeless and so is she. God rest her soul.
I still enjoy Miss Davis and she really was the most celebrated STAR next to Lucille Ball...
She was a very gracious star and very professional.
Pardon my French. But ain't nobody got anything on Bette Davis. Truly the Queen of Hollywood.
"Pardon my French" is a grandpa-ism for when he uses a swear word.
I’m so happy I ran across this video, it made me smile.

My all time favorite. She just filled the screen. Its true youll never see her likes again. A true icon.
I first watched this on AMC in 1992 when AMC still aired classic films. It's very good to see this once again.
Paul Henreid seems like a genuinely fun loving person
He directed her in dead Ringer
This is SUCH a treat!!

I was born this year .I can't believe I was live at this time in so excited.
I like that Bette was pissed that work was interrupted by Ralph. And all through the show, it seems that she wishes she was back at work.

She was a great actress!!! I wish she more starring roles in the mid 60s and 70s. All she got were crap roles towards the end so sad. she is Icon!!!
Tyler Hastings
She got a lot of TV work in the end, and much of it was pretty decent.
The Paul Henreid bit was charming.

LOL exactly!
Bette liked it the hard way.
Hahaha! This made me LOL. Seriously.. the idiot host like "ohh yes, just sit right here."
So cheap. And also so rushed, always, never allowing the distinguished guests enough time to say their piece. Who the hell produced this series?
very odd wasn't it?
Love Bette Davis x
the impression was so good!!! and what amazing words she wrote about the former drug addict..sweet of her
...I don't think Bette was too keen having her cigarette taken away like that.
@@fool4singing She was pissed. I noticed.
I think Edith Head sounded like a lovely person; she was famous for cooking authentic Mexican food.

The thing I love most is how irritated Bette seems with Ralph when he first walks into the room.
And Edith Head sat there like "really bitch!?"
Her expression and the way she sat there holding those sketches killed me 😂😂😂
She was ready to light his ass up! Lol
She shot out of her chair when Victor came on stage

Omg I loved this! Thank you!
One of the Greats!!
Too cool a cucumber!!! Not once does she hug or extend herself..my favorite actress but so chilly!
Victor Buono a great actor!
the only person she really showed any emotion towards was Victor Buono...
grand an logical women to the end .she did her way.
It's interesting that Bette's sister doesn't share her accent at all.
Bette no doubt took elocution lessons early on.
What type of "accent"?
That hairstyle makes Olivia de Havilland look like something from Star Trek!
I was thinking the same thing !
I could not stand Lesley Gore ! Know wonder he left her at that party !!!
Sheldon Helms
I think Olivia looks absolutely gorgeous.

That hair is FABULOUS!; just like she is!!

I love her outfit. It looks like something I would have worn in my early to mid 20’s to work (maybe even in my 30’s maybe). I really do like it.
She doesn't look too happy to be there
As a fellow Aries, I can attest to us not being great lovers of spontaneity, unless it's of our own making. Impulsive, yes, spontaneous...seldom.
Definitely not. Edith Head looked pretty ticked off too.
Can’t say I blame her
She’s always said she’s socially awkward when in groups lol
She looks like she always had 😂I adore her and believe this would be her happy❤
awwwww my Aries sister!! love u

Good golly! As of the date that I am typing this which is July 7th, 2020 at 9:45am in Toronto, Olivia De Havilland is 104 years old and STILL alive!!
Do you know the year this show was made? By the way I find it amazing that someone from Gone with the wind is still alive!
Isn't that fabulous! I've been watching all her movies and interviews the last few months (I have been a fan for years).
