I was LITERALLY just watching footage last night from 1985 FAMU entrance & when i heard this EXTRA ROCK- THIS EXTRA POP i had to look good & listen real close to who was making me groove like that- almost boarderline GO-GO beat. To my surprise- THERE THEY WERE- marching in( in front of the trumpets) - several quints & quads. We didn't have that lil extra " ump" back when I marched in the 90s. Hubba Hubba Prof. Davis- Prof Kirk( RIP)- & everyone's fav PROF GRAVES! 💙💙💙💙
To answer the question why so many quints. The drum section was much larger this year but because of Covid-19 a lot of them left. Mainly in the snare section. I would say more but I will just leave it at that.
Looks good just a bit cluttered. Kind of different for rat patrol. They've always had dynamics and clean precise cadences. Something is different 🤔 still good stuff!

Why the SNARES don't have numbers? More quads than snares this is a first lol but overall very NICE... SWAC - ISH , hope the band like this too !! FULL SWAC , you know what I mean lol 😂
Why so many quints is the million dollar question. It seems the Aristocrat drum line has adopted the ways of other drum sections, instead of being in a class all by themselves.
@Tony & @Marquis The section can no longer be identified as Rat patrol due to to school policy. As far as the quints, It has nothing to do with them adopting anyone’s ways. Just how recruiting fell. I sure all 8 quint players came in as true quint players and weren’t moved to the drum.

Might be what you believe but it isn’t that. It’s way more than a name. It’s about what those names were associated with. Rat and other past sectional groups have been associated with things that the school does not see fit to be representatives of the band and university. So there are protocols set to prevent those particular groups from being available. Rat Patrol is no longer a representable name for the section which is why a name change is much better than no name at all.. “TSU Aristocrat of Bands drumline” just sounded awful

At professional functions they cant be brought out or introduced as the RAT Patrol
