Skywalker Saga's main strength is as an open world Star Wars game, I would say. If you just wanna play through the movies, then yeah, it's not great. But it's pretty fun just exploring the galaxy.

The cool thing about The Force Awakens game is the fact they got the entire cast to voice multiple parts of the game that weren't in the movie. Including both Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford. It's so worth getting especially since it's on sale. I got the ultimate edition for $8.

I was super stoked for the Skywalker Saga when it was announced, but it really feels like it was a double edged sword. We got a really nice looking overhaul for all the old Lego Star Wars trilogy adaptations (sad the clone wars was left out tho) with pretty fun combat when it's there, but it feels like they kinda forgot these games are meant to be hack and slash adventure games with puzzle elements and instead just focused on the puzzle element and walking through areas parts.
I love the Skywalker Saga despite its flaws, it just makes me a little sad that it isn't as much of a "wow" moment as the original Lego Star Wars was back when I got it on PS2.

I would ADORE a sequel to Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars covering Seasons 3 - 7. That would simply be incredible. Heck, if TT Games were ambitious, they could just throw in Rebels, The Bad Batch and Tales of the Jedi too, even if they just come as bonus levels. For me, I would appreciate a return to that art style, too, although I'm probably - and sadly - one of the only people who LOVED the Clone Wars sets and minifigure art styles. Lego Star Wars III is - by far - my favourite LEGO Star Wars game, and I would absolutely adore another game with the same awesome side game modes (ground battles and space battles were the most epic modes ever as a kid, a ton of fun, and they have still aged pretty well) and same style of open world, gameplay, and character roster/designs; they could perhaps implement a Skywalker Saga style open world but instead make Clone Wars specific planets explorable instead, although I for one wouldn't mind just the Republic - Seperatist Hub distinction bridged between a gigantic space battle, however. Man, this all just sounds amazing in my head... A man can dream.

Honestly feels like what would happen if Ubisoft made a Lego game. Sure, it looks incredible and the open world is huge, but most of the objectives and side quests feel like pointless busy work and the combat is not the star of the show. I guess they're better adaptations of the movies as opposed to The Complete Saga where it's just constantly solving puzzles, doing platforming and fighting enemies that weren't originally present, but at that point I'd rather just watch the movies.

So instead of a thought-out trilo- I mean game series, that you were expecting with variety and fun gameplay the series is known for, you got an open world puzzle game that's a shadow of it's former self? You must have enjoyed having your expectations subverted.
It's a very fitting game series for the last trilogy, in more ways than one.

LEGO TFA is the most underrated LEGO Star Wars game IMO. Sure the main story was a bit padded out but you can't say any corners were cut to give it to you in five levels and a series of hub missions you can never replay. Plus the lion's share of those bonus levels actually tell an interconnected narrative set between RotJ and TFA, which was a big deal back in 2015. The remaining bonus levels mostly take place concurrently to the film and help to flesh out the story by showing new perspectives. It's more complete than Skywalker Saga and more cohesive than TCW.

I think there were a lot of problems behind the scenes of The Skywalker Saga. They've obviously switched focus from bigger levels (like the Tantive IV or Han's freighter) to open zones with very short levels consisting mostly of boss battles. And to be honest, I don't really like this formula. My guess is that it started with LEGO Dimensions, when they released character packs without any levels.
It also seems like they are currently having major problems with whatever they do next, with rumors of LEGO Mickey Mouse & Friends being worked on for Disney's 100 year celebrations, then that game being cancelled, then LEGO Batman 4, then that being cancelled, then a level DLC for Skywalker Saga and I don't even know anymore what they are working on. I would prefer them going back to how they did LEGO games in like 2015 or 2016, when they were able to turn more games out. I 100%'ed LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens and LEGO Jurassic World as well as LEGO Incredibles and would love more of this. Maybe a LEGO Doctor Who game? The developers of LEGO Dimensions obviously loved the franchise (a second level pack was being worked on when the game was cancelled) and the 60th anniversary of that show is coming up soon. Or they can finally get around to do a LEGO Marvel vs. DC Super Heroes game...

All things considered, there isn’t really much media that exists right now that can work for a lego adaptation. We have to remember, the primary market for these games is children, so the games have to be properties that children enjoy. That’s kinda why Hobbit and Lord of The Rings are often forgotten about, because they aren’t movies a lot of kids would be interested in (I’m open to been proven wrong), so the nostalgia isn’t there.
In saying that, it would be cool to see TT Games adapt something from Ninjago. Maybe a game akin to SWS (so they can improve the flaws) that covers the earlier seasons.
The only issue with that is the fact Kirby Morrow is dead, and Lloyd has a new VO, so it wouldn’t be the same when doing the earlier stuff.

    • @legometaworld2728
      @legometaworld2728 Год назад

@@minecraftWithDanielD Understandable point but there is one very big franchise that children love yet LEGO hasn't adapted it in over seven years, that series being the MCU. Granted, it's not made for kids (hence the consistent PG-13 rating) but almost any kid who knows who Lloyd Garmaddon is also knows who Tony Stark is. While LEGO LOTR seems disproportionately forgotten about, I agree, both the Hobbit films and LEGO game weren't the best IMO (they didn't even have the full trilogy in the latter) so that could be why that one specifically was forgotten. Harry Potter is also a LEGO game duology few people have nostalgia for today (unlike, say, LEGO Indiana Jones 1, which was based on a mostly older-targeted property) despite both games being great and based on a series loved by kids of the time so I'm not 100% sure if this is always the case but your logic still makes sense. And maybe LEGO Harry Potter did do pretty well financially if they're making another.

It didn’t start with the episode 6 levels, they were instead unlockable bonus levels. You could also make your own character. There were also some arcade like mini games sprinkled throughout the overworlds and a couple loading screen mini games while the levels loaded.

I seriously don't get the frustration with open world. That's its best feature. It's vast. So many things that's not "busy work." Plenty of unique missions across dozens of planets. But he wants to keep condescendingly complain about "walking" (not even showing them walking 90% of the time. They r sprinting super fast) from one mission to another. The point is to introduce the open world you can explore after the story. And you don't HAVE to just "walk" to the next mission. There's other things/characters you can explore in between. That's the point. The planets details are gorgeous. And no one can seem to appreciate that complaining about "walking" to next mission while passing all this cool shit.

FINALLY! Good to see you finally getting back to making game version comparison videos! I played through the sequel trilogy first when I played The Skywalker Saga, because The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker hadn't been adapted into LEGO games yet. Although I kind of agree with you; it did seem like the developers put more effort into the original and prequel trilogies than the sequel trilogy. Also, I kind of wish that they had made Rogue One and Solo into full story levels instead of just DLC character packs. Can't wait to see you do the video on LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars!
Additionally, while playing The Skywalker Saga, I kind of started thinking that the next LEGO game should be the Marvel Cinematic Universe. LEGO Marvel: The Infinity Saga and LEGO Marvel: The Multiverse Saga. They could be released in small chunks, with each chunk consisting of a phase of the MCU, with Phases 4 and 5 being further split into the movies and the TV shows. It would end up being a huge "mega game" where each Phase can basically be considered its own game but then the smaller games combine together to form likely the biggest LEGO game ever. Sure, this sounds like it would be difficult or almost impossible, but a man can dream.

As someone who grew up playing movie tie-in games where the story was stretched to fill an entire game I loved the standalone Force Awakens game! I'm a sucker for games extending movie scenes and this one did it pretty well most of the time (I could do without the level in which you search the resistance base for Wookie cookies). I also loved the gameplay improvements and all the little jokes and details and the fact that the boss battles are pretty varied, which overall makes this my favourite Lego game. The Skywalker Saga felt like such a huge letdown in comparison! Of course I didn't expect it to extend the movie scenes like TFA did, but it didn't even cover all the important movie scenes. Plus it kinda lost its charm and the jokes during gameplay. There aren't even many proper vehicle sections outside of flying through space and all the boss battles play the same.

  • @majorearl12

The Skywalker Saga was one of the biggest let downs ive ever seen.
Half of the "story" was just walking in the open areas to get to the next point instead of connecting them together through story events like in older games. Cutting out parts to make it short so you can play all of the game without getting burnt out, yet you get burnt out by finishing just one of the movies. Why they didnt incoporate the battles from Lego Star wars III, or the really nice lightsabers from Force Awakens, or just expanding it to be the biggest and best Lego Star Wars it could be is just wrong.
Push development back another year and let it get really fleshed out, heck, release it one saga at a time over the course of a few years and sell it $30 for each saga. Its just crazy that you dont get the fun or nostalgia from the previous games for "The Skywalker Saga".

It would have been nice if Skywalker Saga had incorporated a bit more of the attention to detail from Force Awakens, since it seems like a modern LEGO version of the older games, but with enough flare to keep it fresh (though having to spend hours in one level might be pushing it). I know. Giving six movies this treatment and still having sidequests everywhere is unrealistic to have any kind of reasonable development schedule for a game, but I think a few sidestory levels might have been more interesting than just doing a sidequest that involves kind of getting the gist of all the stories going on in the background (not that I don't like a lot of these sidequests to get Ponda an arm or help a random Sith Acolyte with his chores).

One thing that bothers me about the skywalker saga is Kylos lightsaber. In lego TFA it actually had a cross guard and in the skywalker saga it just extends to the sides towards the bottom. Its small but it bothers me

  • @UnabridgedGamer
    @UnabridgedGamer Год назад +2

Honestly, I vastly prefer TFA’s standalone version. Its levels are more involved, and ironically, the writing is far better fleshed out. You see the main cast actually bond as characters, which is benefited greatly by reusing the entire film cast. Let’s not forget Phasma finally getting a real boss battle.
It’s also worth noting the 3PO level is actually based on a well-received comic from around the time, which is how it got in. There’s even an ANH homage level connected to it where playing as Phasma, you besiege the ship. The villain levels are really elaborate, even if they aren’t crucial.
It’s for those reasons I was originally expecting the same would be achieved with Skywalker Saga, only for it to be lots of walking and middling jokes. I’ll take a meaningful stand-alone story over a bland but bigger retelling of the whole saga.

Complete Saga is better than the TFA game but even the TFA game was honestly better than SS, Skywalker Saga had waaaay too many sections that you can’t replay unless you make a new save file, levels that were too short and waaaay too much open word drudgery

  • @axtagran7504

Honestly felt like Lego put way more effort in the levels / open world hubs for the originals and sequels, honestly can't blame em. I really liked LSWTFA and LSWTSS for it's graphics, open world, better gameplay and bonus missions / bounty hunter quests that added to the immersion. I guess I didn't like mission 5 and 7 in Force Awakens and most of the prequel levels (or episode 1 and 2 ones) but besides that no complaints from me
Also Rey didn't steal the skywalker name, both Luke and Leia approved. Rey Skywalker all the way

  • @kokroughtoss1257

I do find it hilarious that TT Games tried really hard in certain spots trying to make sense out of the Sequel's mess.
Back in the original Force Awakens game, they kept the scene where Rey uses the mind trick on Kylo despite having no training.
In the Skywalker Saga, that scene is completely removed.
During the Starkiller base section of Force Awakens, Rey completely dominates Kylo in lightsaber combat.
In the Skywalker Saga, Rey essentially rage quits the lightsaber duel and just starts beating the shit out of him.😅
In the Last Jedi section of the game, Luke is retconned to have turned on his lightsaber IN SELF DEFENSE when Kylo wakes up. Unlike in the movie where he turns it on before Kylo wakes up. Even TT Games realized that Luke trying to kill his nephew was a stupid story idea.
In the Rise of Skywalker section, the cringey Reylo kiss is completely removed. Thank God.
