The best concept behind a review on RUclips. For me, It's always been about how the radio SOUNDs ! Just close your eyes and pick the best sounding radio for your ears, and don't let anyone tell you different, because YOU are going to spend A LOT of hours listening to it. This is the video I show all my friends when they ask why I bought a Yaesu. Thanks for the reality check, Lee in USA
yep. same. Really wanted the 7300 and after listening to DNR and final audio I bought the ftdx10. Couldnt justify the 101...was really torn between the 3000 and the 10. The 3000 was available on clearance for around 1500. Probably should have bought it, but the 10 is truly an amazing radio with fantastic noise reduction and yet still able to pull clear voice out of the RX. Have a 991 as well, and I do like it, but it doesnt even come close to RX of the 10.
FTDX-3000's DNR is clearly superior - almost completely pulls the noise right out of most signals and makes it much easier to hear weak stations. I love mine.
The Ftdx 3000 also has a warmer sound then the 7300. I use the 7300 for ft8 and SSTV only now. I have a Ft991a in my vehicle and the noise reduction feature is fantastic in reducing the vehicle electrical noise as well. My ultimate radio is the new FTDX 101 one day will purchase it.
these days I am thinking of changing my old IC751A with a "new" generation transceiver, I care a lot about good reception, and your video has been very useful, many thanks Adrian 73 de ik5hgl
Hi Kelly, if you can afford the FTDX 101 buy it. It has the best of FTDX3000 and SDR scope. The scope is great to spot signal right on the noise floor just like the 7300. I enjoy using the FTDX 3000 on 80m as the band is full of hash and the radio cleans it extremely well.
Thanks Adrian, in VK the 3000 was double the price of the 7300? The replacement FTDX10 is 1/3 more than the 7300 now: “you pays your money you makes your choice”
I've watched your video more than once. Not that I NEED another radio, I am trying to decide between the FTDX-3000 and the IC-7300. It seems to me like the 3000 NR is a little better. I have heard that the 7300 receive can sometimes break down in heavy QRM but I like the looks/sound of the FTDX-3000. Decisions, Decisions!
I had both on loan some months back. My heart was set on the icom due to the screen ect. I used both for a 3 week period and I must say that the 3000 was far more superior. The filtering on the 3000 was on a different level. The 3000 internal Speaker sounded as good as the sp8 Speaker I had on my previous radio. I wish that yaesu had added 4m but an amazing radio on 6m too. I have not owned a 3000 for 6 months and very pleased with it
The Yaesu is far superior with its noise reduction compared to the 7300, and more pleasant to your ears. I own the Yaesu FTDX-5000MP Limited, and the DNR is absolutely amazing !
Yaesu ft dx3000 is now a discontinued line, so a big price reduction, but it is worth remembering that parts become unavailable after a time for discontinued lines.
I bought ftdx3000 this week. I haven't got to play with it yet - now I'm really excited. Have you had experience of using the Yaesu's SNR on weak SSB signals right on the noise floor? 73 Adrian :) EI9HAB
I have the 7300 and the 891 without doubt the 891 is far better at reducing qrn and qrm. In fact I plan to sell the 7300 for the 3000 because yaesu noise reduction and filtering is far better. I mostly use the ft 891 now. The menus on the 891 take some getting used to but now im used to them its not an issue, I just wish I had heard the 891 before I read all the great reports on the 7300 because Itwould have convinced me to get the ftdx 1200 or 3000 instead. The fancy waterfall doesn't make the radio hear or sound better.
Had the Icom 7600 then bought a Yaesu 3000. The Yaesu crushed the noise level test when running on SSB. Wasn’t even close. The 7600 stays set up for digital now. Never use it on phone bands any longer. The CW decode was a plus when learning CW. If you miss a word you can use the radio to double check yourself.
At least in SSB I prefer the DNR of the ICOM 7300, because of its higher tones audio. It improves intelligibility for MY ears. Generally I prefer more moderate settings.
Using preamp 2 on icom 7300 adds a lot of noise. I never use it made comparison unfair. I too prefer yaesu DNR but the menu on 891, 991 and 3000 is trash so it’s not worth using so I sold both(991&891). I use icom 7300 with west mountain radio DNR speaker I bought for $125 and it sounds even better than yaesu Radio DNR.

i have the 101mp, but also an 9000mp... sorry to say 9000mp still is the best
Thanks for the video. I like my FTdx3000 a lot. The FT-991 DNR works very good as well.

Great comparison, I am considering both of these radios.
I'M GOING WITH THE YAESU
It is very easy listening on this radio
without any doubt, the winner is the Yaesu FTdx3000

Very nice video!!! So good!

Yes that is why big price reductions

On the SSB test the NR icon isn't there on the 7300. Is it tuned on ?
Yes the NR was On, is hidden when you are in the NR adjust screen, set to 15 Max.
Had the Icom 7600 then bought a Yaesu 3000. The Yaesu crushed the noise level test when running on SSB. Wasn’t even close.

The DNR on the 991A gives an underwater sound that almost makes it not worth using
There appears to be some extremely sloppy AGC on the audio with the ICOM. I really couldn't listen to that for very long. Very choppy.
Yes correct. AGC does improve with the slow setting. However was good to demonstrate how good the DNR function is with fast AGC.
At least in SSB I prefer the DNR of the ICOM 7300, because of its higher tones audio. It improves intelligibility for MY ears. Generally I prefer more moderate settings.
I think so too.
Adrian, is the IC-7600 better on receive then the IC-7300? Thanks Mark
Hi Mark
I believe the 7600 is superior to the 7300 on receiver I have heard a difference
if the 7300 is so bad why do you still have it?
Hi Ron
What makes you think I still have it?
Using preamp 2 on icom 7300 adds a lot of noise. I never use it made comparison unfair. I too prefer yaesu DNR but the menu on 891, 991 and 3000 is trash so it’s not worth using so I sold both(991&891). Yaesu FTW
Hmm very interesting Adrian to me I thought the yeasu NR was performing better ... Amazed from an icom lover
So was I surprised Yaesu uses Digital, I have always liked Icom as well and they are more intuitive especially in operation.
Well the Yaesu is better now put the waterfall from the 7300 on the 3000 and then you will have it all.
Yaesu dnr is the best..
I have both and the Yaesu sounds muffled and watery compared to the Icom. Icom wins on NR by a wide margin in this shack
Did you set the contour filter to emphasize the higher tones ?
That compensates that muffled sound, audio becomes clearer.
