    Something I learned in Rebirth: sneaking with broken limbs, injured torso/head, and encumbered helps level up sneak massively, since it lowers your actual sneak level, which is what's used to determine how much xp you gain from sneaking around low level npc's like the slaves.

    • @planetfall5056
      @planetfall5056 2 года назад +6

      I imagine plate armor and chain shirts would also help since they reduce sneak so much too. Also sneak levels with the amount of enemies nearby so bigger the group bigger the xp. Hungry bandit hoards are great since they are one of if not the biggest NPC squad and if you get caught, it's fine since they are so weak you'll probably live even if you are too encumbered to run.

    • @Lucifronz

      The slave start is ironically one of the best if you want to level up some useful skills like lockpicking, laboring, sneaking and athletics. You can even fight the guards for combat experience with no consequences, though you'll almost always get knocked out too fast for that to really work. If the guard is distracted with another slave, maybe.

      Sneaking while seen around many hostiles is what gives you the full 150% EXP boost, I believe.

    Fun fact I learned while looking up Bulls vs Garru last night.
    HN domesticated bulls have their horns cut, and so do blunt dmg-which does extra dmg to robots and armored foes; while Wild Bulls do cut dmg, which causes bleeding against fleshy foes-important detail.
    Garru heal faster and have more health, but have lower combat/str stats overall-if that interests you.

      I believe Garru are faster as well, which is why I preferred them for my supply/loot/drug runs (they can kinda outrun a beak thing when fully grown and trained)

    • @Ruhrich92
      @Ruhrich92 2 года назад +5

      @@jefbord I could see that. Ive never really used animals in Kenshi beyond the odd dog here or there.
      But in my headcanon, I think the Garru are native to Kenshi-like the Hivers-where speed seems to be key to survival.
      Meanwhile Bonedogs were genetically modified to provide protection-like the Shek-even sharing their boney appearance.
      Where as Bulls and Goats were brought to the moon with humans. Bulls most resembling greenlanders, farmers/traders. While goats fit better with scorchlanders, providing the non-farmers with food and being more nomadic.
      Even the Skeletons have their counterparts. Where Skeletons are machines based off humans, robo spiders are machines based off native skimmers/spiders.
      Tldr;
      Garru-Hive
      Bonedogs-Shek
      Bulls-Greenlanders
      Goats-Scorchlanders
      Skeletons-Robo Spiders
      All things balanced. As they should be.
      Except Beakthings.
      Beakthings are just a fuckin menance.

      @@Ruhrich92 hmm now that you mention it, garru are indeed derpy, just like hivers lol
      On solo character runs I like bulls more, dont need that much bulk inv and they're more useful in a fight.

    On the Don’t Reload tip, if it’s your first run or so.. do not be afraid to reload. Quicksave with F5, try out that fight, get killed, reload, and then don’t do that fight.
    I don’t think Kenshi is the kind of game where you want to be reloading with every lost limb (I only play Hive Only for the record) but when you’re dealing with your first settlement raid, stumble across your first Murder Giraffe, or just ventured into a new region, it’s nice to be able to get a gauge for where your party is at.
    It’s humbling and makes the world feel scarier than just avoiding every fight you aren’t 100% sure you’re gonna walk away from.

      This definitely works. I have seen a lot of posts and comments previously suggesting things like sneaking around outside a building full of enemies to powerlevel your sneaking, and I have tried this myself and it doesn't seem to actually work unless you aggravate them first. Even if the mouse pointer turns red when you mouse over them, that does not appear to be enough by itself to count them toward stealth XP.
      There seems to be a certain timespan after enemies have been actively acting hostile toward you that their presence anywhere nearby counts for stealth leveling, but if you don't aggravate them it only seems to apply to your stealth leveling if you're in a position where they would have detected you if you weren't sneaking... which means sneaking around fifty yards behind a group who weren't looking for you in the first place, or around a building full of people with no way to detect you're on the other side of that wall, does little to nothing.

    I finally bought the game recently, 12 hours in and while I haven’t really done anything, that feels fine. I have one stealth skeleton who runs around stealing, in between that he helps another when that one is throwing himself against enemies. Then I have a random shek running around the hub encumbered with a thief’s backpack filled with food and heavy armor. I guess the shek is for extra purpose 😂 since the other two have no need for food.
    Obviously since that one skeleton is the thief, I reload a ton. I know the idea is to make mistakes in Kenshi, but it’s instinctual, plus I learned a valuable lesson when a reload filled a chest with even more food, but this led to the thief being just a little slower and getting ganged up on.

Their attack animation is so slow you can manually dodge out of the way, and separate squads of them do not aggro you even if you are attacking one. @@samuryebread1065 If you're human, have a human man, or the number of humans in your group are equal to or more than the number of non-humans, I'd suggest Okran's valley. the river rapters there are even weaker than the swamp ones and the holy nation will attack them on sight meaning that you can easily collect their hides from the entrance of blister hill in your down time if you're injured. another option that is a bit riskier would be near the slave markets west of Catun if you can make the journey. its on the edge of the swamp and swamp creatures often times regularly pass through. the slavers don't really bother to kill raptors, but they will deal with any blood spiders. turtles are also in the area which while more dangerous on a technical level (they have no attack animation making it hard to gauge dodging), they are a lot easier to kill than goats and give a good amount of meat.
      The only other place I can think of where you can easily fight raptors is shark, but due to pathing in the swamp, its a bit harder to control your squad and you would have to go through the swamp and potentially get fucked up by spiders before you get there. If you do reach it though, the raptors that pass through attack the rice fields there meaning you can engage them in the town rather than out of it.

Gotta be careful doing edits in this mode with the npc nodes (the little green manequins that appear near interactable objects) while doing tight edits. For example, this mode is useful for placing separation walls in a much more tight spread than you would be able to normally, allowing you to leave no gaps, but your npcs will process whatever you move in this mode as if it was still like when you first put it down, making them liable to run through separation walls, furniture, etc. which breaks immersion a bit. do not load is just a wrong advise.
    most loads i do, or pretty much ALL of em, come from the game beeing glitchy AF.
    turret gunners get stuck and starve.
    people glitch out of your base and getting killed in the next attack.
    your people lag into objects where they cannot leave and you cant pick them up.
    holy nation attacks you because you "missed" a prayer even though they never showed up for the prayer because they got stucked by bad pathfinding.
    you get your weapon stolen by someone and the stolen weapon isnt show in his inventory. you simply can not ignore loosing a meitou weapon to a glitch.
    list goes on and on when it comes to kenshi.
    we love the game for all it flaws, but telling someone not to load is just hillarious.

    • @MaximalFreak
      @MaximalFreak  Год назад

      Of course you can load the game whenever you need, but my advise is about not trying to do certain actions and loading the game if it turns out bad. Like live with consequences for your actions. You tried to attack wrong guys and they beat you hard and put to slavery? Live with it. Do not load.
      Thanks for your opinion though! Maybe I should have mentioned better what kind of save loads I mean.

      First of all I would try verifying integrity of game files. Have you tried that?
      Also if you are using mods, try to disable one by one and try launching the game again to find out which one is causing the crashes.
