We hope you enjoyed the enchanting tour of East Hampton Modern by Workshop/APD! This Hamptons retreat, nestled in an agricultural setting, is a true testament to the beauty of blending contemporary architecture with the bucolic charm of farmland. For more of the latest and greatest in architecture, interior design and house tours, be sure to order a copy of our book ‘10’: thelocalproject.com.au/product/10-celebrating-10-issues-of-the-local-project/
Not normally a fan of the "all black modern farmhouse" look but man, this one is brilliant! Well designed, decorated, edited and narrated. Excellent house, site and video. Bravo!
This house does justice to the beauty of the outside that comes inside through the modern architecture. Modern living in harmony with the natural background. It’s well thought and even better executed. It really feels zen!
I love every TLP fearured project. But man this one... this one stands apart. It is the most resonable, clean, practical, mindful yet BEAUTIFUL piece of architecture. Love the landscaping too. Oh my gosh. This house is posh.
Well!... As a Mid Century Modernist, a MCM design specialist, and a MCM preservationist I usually feel that new-build contemporary homes often pale in comparison to the glittering heights achieved by the modern masters of the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s. However, this contemporary home is truly stunning!... Inspired in its conception and elegantly executed: a contemporary take on Modernism ripe with a seamless connection to its environment and a celebratory sense of place! WOW! Wonderful!... and that says a lot coming from an architecture snob like me who abhors the "clean-lined", stark and boxy mansions of recent years. Congratulations on a true work of architectural art! William Cody is smiling today. All the very best, Daniel Krog
Wow! This is such a gorgeous piece of architecture. The relationship between the landscape and the Shou Sugi siding creates a balance that isn't overwhelming. This home really works with the fields surrounding it while not taking away from the natural beauty. Well done to all of the people who worked on this project! Thank you Local Project for this delightful showcase!
What a spectacular place in a beautiful setting. I could easily live there. Great job. I just love the Local Project. Your production values and quality are second to none on the Internet. Please keep-up the good work.
My favorite homes are the ones that bring the outside in and this one does it seemlessly. What a tranquil place in the heart of nature. Not over the top either, every space is practical and utilized. And the black! I’ve been using black in my interior for many years, I’m happy the rest of the world is catching on to its rich beauty. Bravo!
I'm not always a big fan of the USA-houses of The Local Project, I usually like the New Zealand houses better, but this was just stunning! Both the architecture and interior design of the house itself and how it sat in its natural environmnet is amazing. Not cutting the grass and letting wildflowers blossom is great for the local ecology. It makes me happy to see at least one American not ruining the garden with a lawn (yawn).
This home really exceeded my expectations! I never expected this home to be so magnificent despite its simplicity. Its giving modern family vacation home that can last for a lifetime! It doesn't feel its on a farm but rather its a home within the city. Really love this East Hampton home! Thank you Local Project 😎🥰💖
Absolutely stunning, one of my favourites on this channel. I love the wild garden, really adds to the texture of the home. Well done the whole team 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I was expecting to like the "style" of this modern home, but definitely not expecting to love it! Especially when I saw that it was set in the "Hamptons", where only the super rich snobs can go and/or live. But somehow this home's humble, approachable presence and natural raw beauty comes across as very welcoming, without a care for a guest's financial or social status. Of course the materials and finishes are premium, and in some cases rare, but they're not vulgar or too obvious. To the architect, designer, landscaper, and homeowner: Thank you for the thoughtful design and sharing your beautiful home with the rest of us mere mortals!
Brilliant, Beautiful just sooooo wow. Love the vibes of the natural space and the inside - outside living and the incredible landscape is just so good. Thank you for sharing.
It's so cool to hear how much passion and pride the principal has for this project, designing at this level. It gives genuine. Serious enquiry, how does one manage wild grass overtime? The length in these shots is great, but they will need to trim it back eventually, I'm sure? I love the soft look of it, but I've let grass grow out long like that before, and mowing it was quite the project 😅 but it does give off that free, unmanicured, pure, and joyous, flowy flair.
Can we appreciate that for once, a rich American did not destroy their garden by cutting the grass and actually create a good ecological one? That’s really great! Very nice house.
One Caveat...While appreciating the natural landscape, and overlapping grass into the pool area...I can't help but not thinking about the trillion little vampire ticks waiting to cause misery to whomever they bite. Unfortunately, that is the reality in the NE, especially the coastal communities like East Hampton and Montauk.
I usually prefer swimming pools that look more organic and are not straight and square. Planting wildflowers around this one really softens the straight lines. It's a good compromise.
I actually prefer rectangular pools because it is easier to swim in them without worrying. Curved or organically shaped pools, not so much. But yes, I get what you were saying. It was all clean and very well maintained in the video at least. Where I live, I have seen my clients destroy these pools by keeling them unclean and letting leaves and what not fall or get collected in them. Sometimes there are insects too, ruining the pool. But we'll, pool is only for those who really care, and not for the sake of aesthetics. If one can maintain the pools, perfect for them.
@@justmefive20rs98that thought always occurs to me too. And I did some research, and apparently there are ways to avoid them from entering your garden. So, hopefully no snake attack in this pool. XD
It's a very sleek house. Pitches roofs kind of hint at countryside but interiors are very modern and sophisticated, more reminiscent of some posh suburb next to a big city.
Right! Hahaha no shade to other architects but the discipline of strength training develops a different kind of character and you can feel that through the vision of this project. 🤌🏻 it sets this architect apart from others within his craft, in a good way, I think.
Aside from all the beauty from the architecture and spectacular filming, I am also wondering about the music. Does anyone know where to find it so I can put it in my list for relaxation?
House looks very cool! However, the maintenance on all those valleys in the fall with all those trees is going to be a nightmare... for whoever they're paying to keep it nice lol
It looks like a damn mess. All those weeds and tall grass. My allergies would be killing be. This doesn’t look nice at all. From the preview I thought this was going to be another one of those abandoned home tours. There going to be lots of bugs, mice etc in that.
What a spectacular place in a beautiful setting. I could easily live there. Great job. I just love the Local Project. Your production values and quality are second to none on the Internet. Please keep-up the good work.
Living on Long Island and familiar with typical Hamptons new builds, this is a breath of fresh air. Kudos to Abby Lawless, the landscape designer who is open to transforming the landscape to support the wildlife and the natural landscape.
Love this house, the contrast of the black against the green of the grass and trees pops in such a beautiful way. On a side note, the bots really are fast on a channel that has nothing to do with "thirst" 😒, are they on the prowl for dudes with houses?
Beautiful. I love the outside wild garden meeting the pool. I personally do not like the black that is throughout as it is far too harsh for me and cold. But its beautiful.

Agreed. I think the gorgeous nature surrounding the home helps with the all black look

Can I move in, please? Love this house and the area. So refreshingly different than all the other new builds out there. The landscaping fits so well
The artistic cohesion between the design team Architect and Builder is just impeccable!
It's a nice house but can we have more inside picture and less blabla?
I’m not quite sure you understand this channel.

This project made me smile. It is top notch

We're glad to hear you enjoyed this project 🙌
What a luxury to iterate a home and landscape design to utter perfection ... That is all.

This feels so … lush? I love it.

I really like a build this special to be timeless and I really feel they have achieved this.
An incredibly beautiful and appropriate home that is completely in harmony with nature.
Spectacular! At last a backyard that looks like a meadow with grass and wild flowers. Beautiful house!
Beautiful house but for me it’s the garden and the pool………… Truly magical 💙💚🩵
I love the pool concept. It seems so peaceful
Holy Smokes... That's really beautiful! I can feel the breeze, that welcomes you, as you enter that house! You outdid yourself!
stunning -- passion project -- so seamless & cool calm & collected -- the landscaping is star!
that pool with the garden around it was all i needed to see to hit Like. damn
Exceptional! Serene, elegant, it is timeless.
Brilliant, Beautiful just sooooo wow. Love the vibes of the natural space and the inside - outside living and the incredible landscape is just so good. Thank you for sharing.
Very easy on the Eye , and the house is Magnificent

Very nice house.
Yes 🙏🏻
it has inspired me.. grass is so beautiful :)
mmmmmmmmmm........ticks!
@@lewiscleale5236 At least some animals can live in it.

Stunning house! I can see myself living here very comfortably and happily.
absolutely beautiful

I love the straight and squire because it contrast with the super soft and wild plants growing around it.
I would be scared of snakes hiding in bushes as that’s where they like to hide especially if next to a pool or any kind of water.
Good point. I'll be very scared to even go close to this pool even though the whole house looks amazing@@justmefive20rs98

Absolutely stunning 🎉🎉🎉
Stunning ❤
Finally an architect that deadlifts! haha. Amazing house!

Best grass i ever saw
Lovely!
the grass added millions to the house value
Spectacular House
The b-roll of the NYC housing blocks used to communicate the class of people that vacation in the Hamptons was comical
Ingenious
Looks really cool but you need and this will eventually happen if they are practical, some separation between the grass and the pool.
Райское местечко ❤!
Pretty cool home. With my allergies, i'd die :) . But it is a really wonderful home.
Aside from all the beauty from the architecture and spectacular filming, I am also wondering about the music. Does anyone know where to find it so I can put it in my list for relaxation?
love the gingkos
I love it ❤
Really low key sanctuary.
Nice truck.
First thought: Incredible house - Second thought: There are so many mice in the tall grass and soon in that house :D
The price for the book is $43.50 shown on the website but $28.64 in the RUclips link description. FYI
🤩🤩🤩
Nice video and description. Lovely house.
Could you tell me the name of the bird that appears in the video that seems like a kind of kiwi please?
The outside is beautiful but i find the inside cold and dark with lots of hard surfaces, not very inviting.
House looks very cool! However, the maintenance on all those valleys in the fall with all those trees is going to be a nightmare... for whoever they're paying to keep it nice lol
Could you tell me the manufacturer of the hanging fireplace?
Great house but wonder if being next to farmland and all the shrubbery nearby means constant fly infestations?
And rats😂!
The snakes though...
Battleship Farmhousica
Ahhh. Money.
I wonder how many snakes they find?
Had they used a mid century modern palette instead of contemporary house could’ve been amazing. Everything about it screams safe.
Or maybe is whispers calm, which is what the owners wanted - respite from the hectic city.
💁♀️❤🌼🌺🐝🌳
I'm not sure about the black, it feels like it slightly overpowers the nature around it.
I bet the 100 trillion rodents living in that grass love it too lol....beautiful house though
The land is nice. The house, meh
The Hamptons look so mid
It looks like a damn mess. All those weeds and tall grass. My allergies would be killing be. This doesn’t look nice at all. From the preview I thought this was going to be another one of those abandoned home tours. There going to be lots of bugs, mice etc in that.

Yes…completely. BIG time kudos to Abby Lawless!! She is a genius creative and really speaks with and for (channels!) the land!
the landscaping is to die for...so stunning
i think one of the most magical yards ive ever seen
Shout out to the beautiful shot at 2:21. Also the simplicity of the pool as a natural extension of the breezeway is just gorgeous.
Love this house, the contrast of the black against the green of the grass and trees pops in such a beautiful way. On a side note, the bots really are fast on a channel that has nothing to do with "thirst" 😒, are they on the prowl for dudes with houses?
Brilliant architect! Amazing architecture! Thank you Matt for sharing your vision!
A very beautiful vision.....exquisitely executed! bravo
Love the sawtooth roofline. I’m sure at certain times of day the house just disappears into the background. Well done Workshop/APD!
Everything about this - inside and out - is stunning.
If "the grass is always greener" was an actual place
one of the best TLP showcases in a while, what a nice house!
This is a spectacular house, in & out, with a magical landscape. Great job from the architecte and the client who embraced the designer’s vision.
The house looks perfect😊
Una casa poco común, hermosa en su concepto y composición.
I could live here year-round, without an issue.x beautiful.x
This is a really nice one!
Amazing work as always.
Take a shot everytime they showed a shot of the pool...
That landscaping is awesome!
Mashaallah ❤️
Wow imagine how glorious this looks in Autumn 🍁🍁🍁
Nice very cool absolutely beautiful looks like a dream very welcoming.
The purity of simply watching this video😩
The house, the way the video was made, the environment, it's all just so pleasant
Stunning 🤩 To be able to stay here during all the seasons would be amazing
Beautiful. I love the outside wild garden meeting the pool. I personally do not like the black that is throughout as it is far too harsh for me and cold. But its beautiful.
love hous style ❤🎉
