Hi, I have a Gt in my workshop with the same issue. When I fit the, strap the bottom rivet will break. Does this give an indication that the frame itself is damaged?
according to my roof guy the rivets should have been stainless steel and thats what he fitted when repairing the roof straps. so that is part of your problem see if it works s/s rivets same size. check your frame for any broken cords or bent tubing @@cathalmulvenna4943
