Also the reason as to why destoroyah looks so lizard-like instead of crab-like is because it absorbed the dna of Godzilla jr, with guidebooks saying it quickly developed a endoskeleton through assimilating Godzilla's dna into it's own. Also, while I don't know if it's intentional, or just a reference to how cannibalistic crabs are, but i like how you referenced the fact Dest is a multitude of organisms fused together by having them eat eachother.
I would have loved seeing that being adapted, but I'd imagine it'd be pretty difficult, if not flat out impossible, to somehow explain how a bunch of microspical crabs grow to look like a giant dinosaur with wings by living off of it or something.
This is quite an unexpected surprise and this…might be one of the hardest creatures you ever reimagined and I really like how it came out! Destoroyah might not be my favourite kaiju but it is definitely one of the most interesting and unique characters in the Godzilla franchise and I do hope we return to another kaiju soon, perhaps a certain flying crocodile (wink wink)… Now onto today’s proposal. I said it would be a Dreamworks creature and I am proud to present The Boov: The fight or flight mechanism is one of the defining qualities of life. It determines how to handle certain challenges in life. Most animals dabble in a bit of both but the creature we will meet today is to put it bluntly, a coward. The Boov are a group of cephalopods related to the likes of octopi and cuttlefish but differ because of how derived they have become. These cephalopods are some of the only to be terrestrial to a large degree. This is thanks to a unique body plan where six of the eight tentacles have thickened into pads that help mask the sound of their movements as they forage throughout coasts worldwide. This leg structure, coupled with a primitive skeletal structure has allowed them to grow quite large at around 4-5ft at the head. Two of the Boov’s tentacles have adapted four pseudodigits from suckers to pick up food and move it towards their large, wide beaks which have migrated upwards on the Boov to be closer to their eyes. These creatures are extremely timid and cowardly and default defensive mechanism involves screaming loudly and running back to the water. These molluscs have a unique respiratory system that allows them to breathe both in air and underwater. They have retained their gills from their aquatic ancestors but have developed the siphons that used to help propel them into organs akin to nostrils to breathe on the surface. These cephalopods are incredibly intelligent like their cousins and have been seen using primitive tools to help forage for food. The Boov communicate by changing the colour of their skin, mainly to represent mood and sometimes this technique is uncontrollable as Boov in captivity have displayed bizarre patterns when exposed to human music. Boov have a strict hierarchy with a dominant male in a leader position, guiding Boov to feeding grounds, shelter and normally giving the call to retreat. Boov have an extremely powerful stomach acid which allows them to digest many a consumable and have even been seen eating things like plastic waste with little effect on the mollusks. Boov will normally gather more food than the troupe needs and in this instance they will create a bubble of air underwater using a special liquid stored inside the mouth in order to preserve anything of value. This even extends to human waste like old machinery or certain items they are unable to digest. These will float to the surface and will get out of the mind and sight of the Boov. Boov are a nomadic and opportunistic species which has proven problematic for human settlements around areas they travel through as they are known to take refuge in these structures with little regard to what havoc they may cause but ways to solve this problem are being explored such as the reduction of desirable material or the complete removal of the Boov or humans from the area affected. I can’t wait for what’s next for the channel so I will see you soon.

My understanding is that she was always, meant to be female in the original designers mind though I'm going off a memory of an interview with toho staff and memory is.
I like the design of Destroyah, where it manages to capture more of the crustacean origin, and in making it less bipedal, it now looks both more easily and more threatening. The Oxygen Destroyer, just being an acid that also causes rapid oxygenation to cause harm, is a very elegant solution to the very soft-sci-fi that was used in the original device. Also, THe life cycle of the Destroyahs is interesting since it feels like over the course of their life, they keep changing hunting strategies and techniques, making them, in some ways, the most well-rounded predators around since they use a very wide assortment of trials over the course of their lifestyle. From parasite to ambush hunter, the only thing missing is an endurance hunter, but even that can be arranged.
That's a nice take on the big bad of the Godzilla franchise. I suggest you do a take on Gehara. Have you heard of it? The dark and long hair monster? It's kinda one of the bizarre kaiju to come out of the giant monster films.
Speculative Wildlife Research Center, I would love to see your take on that killer rabbit from Monty Python and the Holy Grail. What would a deadly carnivorous, species of bunny rabbit be like? 😱 🐇
Perhaps rabbits were thrown onto a volcanic island in a storm, with very little vegetation, with the most prominent source of nutrients coming from aquatic creatures coming from the tide pools, giving an insensitive to become carnivorous, initially going after fish and crabs, but as larger animals began to compete with the rabbits, they began to shift their diet to those larger animals that were being introduced to the island by more storms, their cuteness gave creatures a false sense of security, and approach the rabbit in search for a meal, unaware that the rabbit is equipped to make them the meal, with its speed and jumping power making it difficult to stop, and big pointy teeth capable of cracking shells, and even loose chain mail
This “wolf in sheep’s clothing” style of hunting has made it desired as a form of guard animal, quickly “taking care of” intruders by going for weak points, such as the neck and major tendons
Do love that redesign. It actually looks better than the original. And cross our fingers and hope that we have him appear in the next Monsterverse film in 2027, or a monster inspired by it since Toho had to be perks by giving each of their monsters a separate price tag.
@@speculativewildlife Well as I said, let's cross our fingers that Toho would let them. Plus, I do know that Ice Cube's son O'Shea Jackson Jr. is pitching a possible animated series that'll include Sanda, Gaira, Biollante, and Gigan. Though it'll depend on if this'll meet Toho's approval.

Incredible video and I must say this was overall a really intriguing and engaging reimagining of one of Godzilla‘s most noteworthy adversaries also have you thought about covering the brethren moons and their markers as well by extension the Necromorphs of dead space because given their lifecycle of basically doing to the biospheres of entire planets what parasitoid wasps do to spiders and roaches just with a few extra steps could be really interesting to explore, especially when thinking about what the markers could do to potentially less compatible life such as one’s based on silicone be it kind of stroking out and giving up halfway through the process of creating a new brethren moon or somehow adapting the pathogen that is responsible for actually infecting the newfound mountains of meat provided by the marker to be compatible with these non-carbon based lifeforms and also imagining what kind of impact the brethren moons would have on a much more densely populated universe.
