She's doing great. I didn't hear any wrong note. And that cadenza is so, so difficult to play. It was the only section not very good.
But... there we have Maxim Vengerov to guide her. How lucky she is to receive his advices.
10:30 to 10:33 is definitely a section she would want to play again haha (in terms of wrong notes). She makes them sound better than most players though, that's for sure! In the heat of the moment she can sort of get away with it seeing as that's the cadenza which is all about emotion and expression - if she's being 100% passionate but the technique lapses a little then that is still how a cadenza should be. It's as honest as you can get and shows a brilliant human playing, not a robot.
advices ? try pieces of advice
These masterclasses are usually not about wrong notes. If somebody is still playing wrong notes, she/he should not really be here. These classes are usually about musicality, how to make your music more interesting musically.
Maxim Vengerov ’s instruction is astonishing. But her original playing is also fresh and attractive. More than that I loves piece.
Vengerov has amazing experience on engaging students and listeners to emotionally participate. This is so unique and yet so helpful for all to understand a true beauty of music. It's great that she was able to humbly accept and follow the music that was introduced to her by a pro.!
Love seeing these masterclasses with the legend himself. Those students are very lucky to get taught by Vengerov.
same here.
The reason they work with him is because they are prodigies Lmao
As much as I love him as a player I can only say: "Those students are very lucky to get taught by Vengerov.... when they are on show".
I know from two close friends that have studied under him at the Menuhin academy that in private lessons (basically when the cameras aren't on him) that he's a very cold, mean-spirited, arrogant, rude person that's only helpful when he needs to be.
I find that both hard to believe and believable. We all know the type that gives a lot to charity, puts on a good show, appears smile and cheery.... but then has a dark side.
It was his dark side that made my friends quit and move to different academies in other countries! I'm HOPING that my friends just got Vengerov on all of his bad days and hope that he really is a good person who means well. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt since I can't hear his side of the story.
@@liamnevilleviolist1809 I am very choked wow
Oh how Vengerov loves music, it just pours out of him! I don't play but love classical music, and it was so fascinating to watch, and even a nonplayer can tell how high of level this class was.
Perfect! And she is still a student... i cannot imagine the future skills of her. Bravo!
The worst thing you can say about a violinist is "plays like a violinist" you have to express the music and the implied instruments including the human voice which has different structures than a string instrument. The bow has a unique ability to be both foot and breath but you have to understand it!
42:10 not a violin player myself, but it seems like masters do bring this up consistently - relax the elbow
It’s a thing with every musical instruments. The more relaxed you are the more room there ist for expression
What musical intelligence! Really enriching to witness this, the playing and the thinking. Players of any instrument can learn from this.
The one thing that strikes me about most masterclasses is the mere fact that the participants are still students! The level of playing and musicianship is enormous amongst today's youth which makes me very optimistic for the future of classical music. Brava, Ms. Bevilacqua!
Maestro is giving so precious and crucial advices here! Very very interesting and valuable to have the opportunity to listen! Thank you and bravo to wonderfull young violinist too :) !
What a superlative teacher Mr Vengerov is!
Fantastic lesson!
its really hard on the student to do these classes, you clamp up and your nerves go haywire...he did go back to bowing single notes after ¾s, which is really what he was talking about all along, the dynamics of the flow..check out the videos of Hilary Hahn doing the Beethoven violin concert at 15, for playing dynamics..
She is really an excellent violinist. If she could just jump out of her skin, let her hair down and let her musical fantasy take flight. Vengerow is great, even takes notes. What he doesn’t know is that he‘s giving all of us free violin lessons
Alles, alles Gute!
I've nerver seen the "horrible" instruction like this. Maxim reveals the very depth of music. Thank you for sharing this. I'd like to say thaks especially to this talented young player as well.
42:16 - It took him some to mention that haha. It is really interesting to see how musically inclined people such as him become so careless with the technically challenging aspects that stay in the student's way when it comes to true singing expression. This is the difference between good teachers and great teachers. But of course, it is impossible to change one's bad habits within one hour....
Commenting before Maxim speaks: This woman has a huge talent, evident from her first notes.
And now for after: Maxim was a perfect gentleman. He cared solely for the music, and fully respected this student. One thing that might have been interesting would have been for Maxim to let Clarissa play on his violin, which was - to my ear - way superior to Clarissa's. This session was the very height of what a musical collaboration can bring about: a somewhat minor improvement in the student's understanding, but at the same time the difference between a good and really great interpretation.
@@JXS63J Wonderful comments, before and after. I do totally agree with you!
@@JXS63J except, different playing style has an effect on the instrument.
ruclips.net/video/Lr3meJ6nM-8/видео.html
@@JXS63J I've wondered about that too, but at this stage in her career Ms. Bevilacqua will have the use of a fine violin, possibly even a priceless Italian antique such as a Strad. Note that that Mr. Vengerov is wearing a headset, obviously so that his speech can be heard clearly on the recording without exerting himself. But if his violin is receiving additional amplification, even if only a little, then that's not a fair comparison with the student who is being miked from farther away.
One good point in arm relaxation at min 45 you can see that her arm doesn’t extend fully as Vengerov’s. Looks like she has long arm or the violin angle is too close to the body. Very technical point by Vengerov. Love it.
There's a whole set of Vengerov masterclasses and they're all great - very insightful - all musicians can learn from them, not just violinists.
The imagination of Maxim is beyond me I love him for that this change the way I aproach classical music....
The student killed it! I loved Legend Vengrov’s criticism. I didn’t notice that the student was not playing as legato but when she changed her bow and vibrato it definitely made a difference. Beautiful colors.
Bevilacqua, estoy seguro de que "beberá el agua" del éxito muy pronto.- muy talentosa y con este tremendo maestro
Truly an amazing performance, and Clarissa is a very fast learner. only a bit chocked at 29:06 ...
What a fantastic masterclass! I've enjoyed it tremendously. Miss Bevilacqua is very talented and Maxim Vengerov, a complete genius. "There must be life between the notes." (21:40) I remember my piano teacher telling me so about the Fantaisie Impromptu. I am only a witness, someone who doesn't play in a formal way... I simply write. Thank you so much!!!
Who is these lucky and bravissima girl?
Clarissa Bevilacqua
Incroyable complexité des nuances ! Magnifique leçon et quelle délicatesse dans le jeu!
She sounds so good
Тя свири от доста време, а изпитващият от още повече !
she excellent sound but needs to work alot on phrasing and practice slower to get all the notes and intonation the good news is thats not hard a diamond in the rough
She is great ! MV is teaching from a point of view of a conductor. As he should be by now.
21:37 for a moment I felt he was like a psycho mafia leader
21:43 and by notes he means bullets hahaha
Generous and true musician teacher.

Great Master class!
Thank you Mr. Maksim!
Awesome bow technique! Her right hand is so light and flexible
Clarissa I love your playing. Gives me goosebumps 😍
Thank you for this fantastic performance!
Student is amazing. The piece is treacherously difficult. Vengerov a superb teacher.
каждый музыкант неповторим в своем восприятии Нюансов ,Кларисса играет хорошо, Но так как Венгеров уходит в детали , играть может только он сам ...подражать во всем ему невозможно
Love IS art ...max love vos students
Wonderful lesson. But I think a VERY STRESSFUL lesson even for a good violinist like Clarissa Bevilaqua. Very intense and A LOT of things that she has to execute. Vengerov is over the top!
That's what you do at a masterclass. If you want to relax, stay at home. I would say she is doing pretty well.
@@heymambo Of course you are right. But I watched all of Vengerov's Masterclasses here on RUclips and on this one, he is really harsh regarding the Clarissa technique and execution.
@@ItalanFindart sorry to say this but starting from a certain level you shouldn't be disturbed by harsh tone of a professor. If you can't cope with this, then you can forget about big career as a solo violinist. There is huge competition among musicians and weak ones, however talented they might seem, will fall out.
@@heymambo dear Anna, I am not disturbed at all by the tone of Vengerov. Who said this? I really appreciated a lot how Vengerov conducted this masterclass because sometimes he is even too soft.
@@ItalanFindart It is because Clarissa is already so extremely good Vengerov comes to lots of finest details and precisions to make it still better, although her initial playing is already sublime, especially for her very young age.
grazie Maestro for sharing diamonds like this
Amazing girl
Wow! Thank you for this!
While i agree with the comments i feel like in here, shes playing a bit too fast. I can be because its a masterclass though i would like to know what tempo she would actually play it
Merveilleux
The student has big difficulties to understand the intentions of the maestro. Its good, but always the same.
Great job. Bravo!
Fast learner
I hope to meet you dr vengeov in one time💙
Clarissa "grande"! Ottimi consigli di Maxim Vengerov!
"You can transform your playing just by thinking about it". Yep, context is everything. Play to the Universe. Meanwhile Maxim turns music into philosophy, lol.
Her bow arm is quite impressive
最高‼️とても良い‼️
deserves millions of views. I really enjoyed the violin 🎻 🌹🌹
Bravo!!!!!
Just W.A.O.U.W
She is amazing!
It is fascinating to see that she has the talent but she must bring it out and when she does it is a world of different. It is as if these students are a bit shy and they need to throw that off. Vengerov is a master at helping them do that.
Мне нравится
To Alvaro Garcia, if you can hear the wrong note, it is not professional violin
42:17
He is not very happy, sitting so shows this.
Play without piano accompaniment..its a master class
Beautiful!
43:18 Did he meant use full bow? on the D extension?
Vengerov gets right to the heart of the matter as ever. It is hard, meanwhile. Violinists spend so much time studying fine, very fine intonation it is so easy to continue moving from note to note instead of following the line ... listen to Caruso sing, it is all line. She is so good - too good, perhaps. I know I have arrived only when I achieve a state of wonder beyond technical control, the sheer joy of the music and its magical sound world! Pause a moment child and simply draw the bow across the string, relaxing the while ... until your heart leaps with the sound!
He can sing like an opera singer as well.... amazing...
У Максима поет каждая нота и фраза!!! Максим - гениальный скрипач и педагог!!!
⚡🥇💯
Please. You can first in Russian
16:37 , she used so much bow that the tip hit the violin? Jeeeeze! Passionate!
Браво прекрасной скрипачке Браво мастеру!
Maxim
Hands down the best most thought out comment i have ever seen
Fascinating
We love to watch masterclass with Maxim Vengerov. Would it be possible to put the translation in Portuguese to understand what he says? Please
fantastici!!
I can come close to you . O.k. so ( 29.00 ) .
Me sirve
Vengerov is great. But, should stress the fact that the music is based more on
Russian ballet not opera.
He has a good point on the symphonic character of the Concerto. Besides that, he didn’t manage to bring her to the next level. He is so focused on some details and didn’t let her try it. Always interrupting her and talking about how she is diminishing the quality of the piece. Then is he pointing out some of her „flaws“ and a few minutes later singing it the same way and wanting from her to play it that after a few minutes of rambling about nothing
I totally agree
YES!!!!!!
He could have explained this with just two words: make it Flow and make it Sing. Your bow arm and your fingers will always do what you ask them to do but you must know what you want before you "talk" to your fingers and bow arm. At this level, it just requires a little thinking, not so much practice. Her phrasing will change over time anyway.
I am not sure a masterclass is for to bring someone to a next level. She has come there to learn and whether she is going to use his help or not, is her choice. At the moment she is a no name and there are dozens of violinists around the world who will easily top her performance. So she'd better listen to what he says.
@@heymambo I partially agree. However I think he really didn't say much of anything for such a long class. He could have as violinhunter2 said explained it using only a couple of words. He spent a lot of time repeating phrases like 'make it sing" without explaining how to make it sing and she couldn't figure it out on her own. Reappearing the same thing didn't help.
Tschaikowski hätte beide geliebt :-)
откуда такие талантливые красавицы?
Божий дар + огромный труд !!! Наглядный пример для скрипачей .Благодарим за Ваше мастерство а также родителей иконечно профессоров .
This woman is a serious artist. I don't think she needs technical help. She already seems to be connected to a good "source" of inspiration. At this level, that's all one needs. After all, the technical aspects are just THREE things: Intonation, Rhythm, and Sound. She has good control of all three.
And she just got better, simpleton.
@@beethovensg Simpleton....
@@beethovensg no need to resort to petty name calling, geez
I don't know very much about the technical aspects of violin playing but I asume that if she would not have a good technique she could not have been able to perform Tjaikovski in the first place. She has a beautiful sound and a bit more life experience will add some more depth to the music and I am sure that inspiring teachers like Vengerov will help her to become a great artist.
Exactly. And technical basics are needed to express the ideas of the composer - thats what Maestro is talking about.
Listen carefully and pay attention! :)
😍😍
😇
Kларисса ,браво!
фантастичное исполнение
This blond bombshell outplayed even ole Maxim.
If you have to interrupt the student every ten seconds then one of two things are wrong. Either the student is totally incompetent (which is not true in this case) or you are trying to impose your own selfish vision of the piece in question and get frustrated when the student doesn't immediately become a carbon copy of your own interpretation. I have noticed that recently Vengerov has become a little more flexible in this regard but in the past he has been very PRESCRIPTIVE and acting like his way is the only way.
Lapsekili yer maximi
Кларисса занимается у Венгерова? чувствуется Его Рука
well played and that is it. Dry and busy finishing notes, no story
29:05 Very nice joke about the corona madness some people make up
She is so beautiful@_@
Honestly, his teachings here are just a bunch of incoherent, confusing, contradictory, and vague ramblings. I really doubt she walked away learning really anything new. He's essentially saying play it exactly as I would, or you're not playing it correctly-- and the reality is he never plays it exactly the same way twice either.
BRAVO for your honest and true comment.
This is teaching from one Eastern European in the west. A lot of theatre, nice words, everyody is smiling, zero relevant information, and salary into the pocket.
Or maybe you just don’t understand. Had you considered that possibility?
True.. but not quite
Maestro's teaching is beyond technic basics - he gives very view to this brilliant music.
But you have to be ready and have good knowledge of this concerto and the composer's opus as well. :)
Que terribleeee
“There must be life between the notes.”
I’d say this woman plays the piece as well as Vengerov could. He’s giving her a bunch of BS.
But its true, some phrases, chords and notes end a bit abrupt
Itzhak Perlman
He wanted to change the very popular pepper and salt bow phrasing to more Legato --with a big A .. The pepper and salt mini stresses can invade the playing like a fungus . It can sound too careful and precious to use all the time .
