  • While Jerral was serving in the Iraq War, his tank was hit by a roadside bomb. The attack left him paralyzed and without his left arm. But rather than letting his injuries define him, Jerral is fighting back with the help of the world’s most advanced prosthetic arm. He’s working with a team of researchers from the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab to test the bionic arm that could help Jerral and many other wounded vets like him take back their independence.
At the end of the week-long test the arm was packed up and shipped back to the lab. Jerral did not get to keep it.

I am deeply honored to be part of this great project. I would like every one to know that while the video makes it look like Jerral got to keep the arm at the end of the week the reality is it packed up taken back to the lab. If you want to help get Jerral an arm he can keep please go to www.starfishprosthetics.org and make a donation.

man. I was like this is beautiful. You hear about how technology has made us lazy and what not. But this, this right here is refreshing to see all the good we can do with technology we just need funding for it and education. Not going to lie either when his little girl was riding with him on his chair at the end I almost had a tear.

Amazing. Thanks for sharing Tom! Good to see a young man persevering and his family sticking by his side!!! My brother has Cerebral Palsy from an injury during birth. The adoption agency did not know and my parents only found out later and they decided to keep him. His left arm is very limited and he has wanted a "bionic" arm since Steve Austin hit TV screens. He's almost 63 now. I really hope that Jerral gets one soon!!!

One part of me is excited.
    The other is terrified.
It isn't right to point out out nuclear energy and air warfare, but it's something that happened.
But then this guy is boned if we hide from progress.
I just hope we do the right things with this stuff...

Cyberpunk game will hopefully renew the public interest in bionics and inspire many children and young adults to pursue innovations. My dream one day is for no human to worry about losing a limb or almost any body part. I wish I was smart enough to try something like that.

I really don't understand why the JHAPL people keep insisting that this technology is for the lab only! I think the advancements will come a LOT faster if they just let people use them at home. The people using them will show THEM what can be accomplished with this technology, not the other way around.

TheRjjrjjr | The problem is that it hasn't been tested enough for it to be approved. If cases like these keep coming up, it will be. Someday.
