    great job. parts break and you just have to keep making upgrades until it works without breaking down. Remember you can never truly fail as long as you don't give up. so keep at it and don't let the minor break downs get you down.

    It was sad to know that the test drive failed, but we learned from the mistakes that were made in the piece, which led to the folding and fixing! You are doing a very good job I staple much the idea of the back frame so you can access the engine for respairs! And the tank body in general looks really cool! Keep up the good work! do not give up! I support you

    Your front axle should go all the way across so the frame doesn't get any angular stress. A length of iron water pipe would give you plenty of bending resistance.

    At time marker 7:35 you can see the track bending down just in front of the drive sprocket, this means the track is too loose, all track needs an amount of pre-tension to work properly. Either tighten it a little or remove one trackpad from each side to reduce or eliminate this problem.

    that is too cool LOL. I know my dad would have been proud of me if I had made something like that at that age. of course, he would have wanted to help me build it, too!

      You can use threaded rod to go all the way across the front then weld your braces to it it costs around 10 dallors at Menards you can also get black pipe to slide over the threaded rod to make it stronger

    • @MacroMachines
      @MacroMachines  7 лет назад

      that's very similar to what i did today. i kept the same 3/4" axles that were on it before, and welded another piece of 3/4" round stock all the way across to both end pieces. it's very strong now! the only downside is that it cant be removed since the nuts and washers are trapped on the small threaded part, but i can live with that.

    You need to spring that idler so it moves when you steer! Even strengthening the chassis, the problem will return...you can fix that no problem!

    Yo realsteel1776 i like ur plans a lot, do you think a zero turn mower would work for the drive?

    • @MacroMachines
      @MacroMachines  7 лет назад

      Yes. That would even be better because with the tandem pumps you can control one track at a time. Check out the channel "Brad Bennett"; he built a tank with a mechanical drive, but then switched it to zero turn mower parts. I didn't do it that way because I didn't think the parts would be strong enough, but it works fine and is cheaper than buying individual parts

    • @AndrzejSQ9PKW
      @AndrzejSQ9PKW 7 лет назад

      what do you thnik about make something like steering whell like in Leopard? U can then control separately each track. Its only sugestion.

    You should go to depot and get some 1/4" plate and reinforce it then put a diagonal brace on outside

  • @handh2430
    @handh2430 7 лет назад

    How much do you think it has cost you to build what you have now?

    • @MacroMachines
      @MacroMachines  7 лет назад

      I'd estimate around $1,000 to $1,200, but we already had almost all the steel and plywood. we also got the hydraulic hoses for free which saved about $300. It has also cost hundreds of hours of my time

    Hey there! I did watch all of your tank video's from ep. 1 to here, and i think that if you leave the 'chair' (I couldn't find a better word for it 😂) like this, you will not be able to put your head out of the 'valve' at the top of the turret while driving. So if it's possible, i think you should put the sitting - thingy and the levers for driving a little bit up, so you can actually see something while driving :). And... If the turret is installed, how will you go in and out of the tank? Very nice project though, you live my dreams! 😄 Can't wait to see it in action when it is finished!

    • @MacroMachines
      @MacroMachines  7 лет назад

      Glad you enjoyed the videos! and currently, the chair isn't even fixed in place; it's just sitting on loosely. I'll work out the proper height when i get to making the turret. that's something that's easy to adjust.

  • @minchy4926

    Your tracks can easily break.Add a little wheel under the power wheel and thet will prevent track to go in and out

      the tracks are more than strong enough to take the force, they just weren't tight enough

  • @AndrzejSQ9PKW
    @AndrzejSQ9PKW 7 лет назад

    Not good, not good... You schould make better tension whell. The whell on front of yours tank. It schould tighten the track.
    Thats why u have problem with turning and pulling when you start riding. I told you about this some videos earlier. And it can be one of reson why u lose tension whell which is main whell in your video
