For some strange reason I could never truly get into Souvlaki (I tried), but Pygmalion blows my frickin mind every time. I guess that's the relativity of music for you. Great ranking by the way, I'm going to check out the 5EP now. I never actually heard it before.
Glad to hear it man yeah Pygmalion definitely has its moments but as a whole it never did a whole lot for me, you’re right tho that’s the beauty of music, hope you enjoy 5 it’s a real interesting techno-ish twist to their sound

I think at this point I whole heartedly agree! Souvlaki is just a lot more standout and memorable for me, also a lot more accessible, I really think that should be the main “introductory” album to the genre
Loveless is a masterful album and the sheer level of detail in the guitar work is amazing but I can definitely understand not liking it as much as souvlaki, it's a much harder record to get into, and they offer entirely different emotional moods
As a indie kid back in the 90's, other indie kids only ask : My Bloody Valentines are gods, what do you think? I told every single one back then: Slowdive are the GODS. Everyone stared at me and said: Fark YOU!. I walked around wearing my slowdive t-shirts and the MBV and metal kids flip me the bird all the time. BACK to today. I flip the bird back to them all. I still got all my original Creation pressings of all Slowdive cds, 12" vinyl, Lps, cassettes, promos etc and 2 t-shirts. Still look at those artifects fondly and in awe.

@@FerdaTunes well since you mention RIDE. They are another legendary band in the 90s. Ride, MBV, Slowdive all 3 bands were signed to Creation records. I have to say I am glad to have grown thru the 90's uk indie scene very exciting to see new guitar bands emerge every other week.
Smh This is "Shoegazing" for Yankee noobs to the genre and particularly Slowdive. Both JFAD and MBV's Loveless completely blow away Souvlaki! Souvlaki is guitar neutered and inconsistent, and imo their least interesting album.
LMAOOO Yankee noobs killed me 😭😭 but damn bro I definitely hear ya but I think Souvlaki is easily their most versatile and had the most showmanship from the band, I love JFAD to death but I feel it’s a lotttt slower and the songwriting is just under par, all GREAT albums u mentioned tho forreal
