- KidKallian’s drone got stuck up at the top of the smokestack like structure at Rotor Riot Rampage 2023! It was epic!
My friend was able to retrieve his drone a few hours later on the fourth and sixth floor!

air mode keeps props spinning with zero throttle so you can control dives. meets resistance and the pid loop tried to correct, or crash correction was trying to level the quad.

Practice
Here's an actual good answer for you:
0$ to download fpv skydive on a pc and use a console controller you likely already own for practice.
Put some hours in and if you like it invest in a radio for more realistic practice on the simulator and go from there
In real life every crash cost money so get good on sims first. If your short on money all the time like me; then when choosing a drone don't go too large, too fast, or too good image quality. I got a 5inch 6s digital setup not realizing how much everything would cost even after buying the drone goggles and radio.
Bam 100$+ for a charger! bam 35$ batteries!
Start with a small drone is my advice; less dangerous also

How do you see the camera view? Can you rig a vr headset so it feels like you are the drone?
There is a specific headset that comes with some high end drones.
It's called FPV drones. Look into them. They are super fun. I've recently gotten into it and I am hooked. It's a big learning curve so I'd recommend getting an FPV simulator and a cheap drone controller to practice in the simulator and see if it would be something you'd like. I'd highly recommend at least doing that. If ya don't like it, then ur down 40 bucks, but if you do like it, then you're going to have loads of fun and learn a lot!!!
I see the camera view with my goggles that I am wearing on my head. It allows me to see what the drone sees.

Renewing my ama license last year was the biggest pain in the butt. Never had to deal with the FAA bs before and simply trying to find the fixed wing selections throughout the paperwork was nearly impossible. It's Because of all the drone stuff, and more and more "kids" doing reckless and illegal flights because of the ease of launching out of your hands, etc; crashing on private property or causing damage . In my opinion, ( as well as the AMA rep I was dealing with) its just so much easier to get yourself in sticky situations. Whereas fixed wing flight NOT at a field takes tons more prep and awareness. Launching your drone out of the sunroof on the highway is just too easy to get screwed up very quickly. That all being said, I can appreciate the skill this little maneuver took. 😅 be safe

Oh no hahaha did you ever manage to get back into the hobby? The drones Ifly are custom built and are so much fun. I wear goggles to see what the drone sees and it’s very immersive.
