No one suspected them of shit (save for seeker asum, but he got literally nowhere since they kept executing his spies), the only reason they had issues was because of Percy, who would be kind of hard to beat with PR. Fun fact about Vex and the feathers in her hair: that wasn't originally part of the design of the character (like, way back when, when Critical Role first started streaming ca. 2015. oh god. I just refered to 2015 as way back when. I was in highschool then. Ok. Not the place for a quarter life crisis.), but it somehow consistently kept showing up in the fanart (Critical Role used to show fanart at the break in their episodes, which was really cool. They still do a fanart Gallery every week, but it's on their website now.) and so Laura Bailey (Vex's player) decided to adopt it and sort of retroactively made it part of the design. Which I think is very cool.

What’s cool about Critical Role is that their all voice actors just playing dnd. They were asked if they wanted to stream their campaign for viewers on twitch by Felicia Day over at Geek and Sendry. They said yes and the rest is history. Critical Role is now it’s own company with Matthew Mercer, (Dungeon Master), his wife, Marisha Ray, Laura Bailey, her husband, Travis Willingham, Ashley Johnson, Sam Reigel, Liam O’Brian and Talisan Jaffe as it's founders.
The Legend of Vox Machina series came about when the Critical Role crew wanted to do an animated special with Vox Machina and launched a Kickstarter with a goal of $750k and it quickly hit that goal within hours and eventually they raised $11 million by the Critter community (Critters is the CR fan base name). Their kickstarter is the highest grossing kickstarter ever. So the special episode became a full series, we know that there’s a least 2 seasons. It funny how it has come full circle to them voicing their own characters on the TLOVM.
The 2nd campaign follows the Mighty Nein 30 years after the events with Vox Machina. They're currently on their 3rd campaign, which follows Bells Hells within the same world a few years after the Mighty Nein.

It's currently the highest grossing film and tv Kickstarter, (and will probably keep that title for a good while) but I think it comes in at around 7 or 8 in the top funded Kickstarters of all time. Which is still an amazing achievement btw.
At the time of the Kickstarter, it would have had to have beaten Pebble ($21mil) to claim that top spot. Pebble has since been toppled and the target you need to be the highest grossing Kickstarter is now $40mil.

Me in my D&D Campaign when my Party is set upon by bandits while we're traveling and we have to protect our Cleric Guide: "Ok so I draw my Bow, aim at the Big Guy in the back, and say 'You're Mine' as I shoot him twice." Also, to be fair, they shot at me first so I just returned the favor. Granted, they missed by a mile because I'm a Ranger with 20 Dex and 17 AC, but still... THEY SHOT AT ME! Chaotic Good btw.
