And yet for the whole show he remained an order of magnitude behind Vex, who was the worst kind of Ranger only comped by her massive list of magic items that Percy never got equivalents for nor time to make them.
Fun Fact: Vex (dark haired female half elf) can read lips, thats why she covers her own during dinner, to keep others from reading her lips. Also, yeah, that at the end is what we know as No Mercy Percy...
I swear I was so excited after CR season 1 to see No Mercy Percy in animated version and my God did they fucking deliver. Jesus.. The shadow shots when Percy was aiming his gun and you can see the Shadow morph, I swear I almost screamed. It was so good!
So Percy has the original gun, he created the first ever firearm. Which is why it’s so imperfect and prone to jamming. However when that mask comes on, that gun never fails. That is what the critters call No Mercy Percy, and we all love it
You may think Percy’s pretty weak compared to the other party members, but Percy holds the record of inflicting the most amount of damage in a single attack at 249 points of damage. For reference, the HP of an adult Red Dragon is 256 points.
Nice catch on Delilah`s necklace! It amplifies her spells. You`ll get answers about Percy`s powers and his gun, the whole season is dedicated to Percy`s personal arc :3
If you start to notice a familiar looking background character who has a bad thing happen to him in various episodes, (the guy Scanlan pees on in ep1, the 'fuckstick' coat check guard here) it is Matt Mercer, the DM. He is the cabbage guy of LOVM as an Easter egg. And Percy is the inventor of the gun. Smartness and tinkering are his skills. His gun is the first on Exandria (and hits hard, but as an early firearm and for D&D balance has a misfire chance as well as limited ammunition.)
@@VLK_Static From the story Percy is intended to be the first to create a firearm like the Pepperbox (at least in this age). They do have crude cannons and explosives made using black powder, but Percy invented the first _gun_ on Exandria. His player, Taliesin Jaffe, deliberately created Percy as the "inventor of the first gun" as an exploration of what that sort of person would have been like, how broken they would have been to make such a deadly thing, and how their legacy changed the world. *Spoilers for Critical Role Campaign 2 onwards* You can see how guns start to perpetuate the world of Exandria years after Percy stops making weapons, the proverbial Genie is out of the lamp and the world has to live with the consequences. You can also see Taliesin both loving and hating that fact in equal measure every time it comes up in game.
If you look up Percy stats, he has ridiculous burst damage but somehow always ranks third or fourth in total damage. Vax and Grog consistently outclasses him and Percy competes with Vax for third place. And if you excuse Keyleth, Scanlan and Pike from the rankings because they offer utility, you could argue Percy is underpowered. This is what I call a perfect homebrew class because Percy is by definition balanced but sells the illusion that you are OverPowered. The goal of balancing is to make everyone statistically equal but everyone is convinced that they are out performing everyone else
He isn't balanced. He's a damage dealer with no utility who ranks 3rd or 4th in damage, doesn't have any utility, stealth, hp or damage soaking abilities like grog and has the only weapon that every attack increases the risk of breaking the more you hit essentially punishing you for rolling well, and if you fail a repair your weapon is broke until long rest. Imo Mercer was worried he'd be OP so set up all these weapon traps and effectively made a cool character under preform. I think karma got him back when he played deadwood and made a badass gunslinger and failed all his shots and did nothing the whole campaign. And if people disagree cool, but go watch the special where Vox fought Mighty nein and Percy badically could do nothing despite living the longest and having tons of rounds uncontested and couldn't hit, repair, reload, ect to save his teams life (literally).
vox machina approaches character breakdown less like 'everyone gets a special power' and more like 'everyone fulfills a role'. pike is the 'light' of the group, the moral compass as well as the healer, vax is the fast and stealthy one, grog punches things good, etc. Percy fills the role of the brains of the group. he's good at figuring out puzzles, gathering information, and making gadgets for the team (in the original he made exploding arrows for vex, tho the cartoon doesn't show this). his guns are also way more effective than what you've seen so far- high risk, high reward. it's literally the first gun ever so it falls apart a lot, but also out of the entire team percy is capable of the most damage. you guys are pretty observant, i think like most react ppl miss the reflection lol. hope you like the rest of the show!
16:19 "White Castle" Different place. Whitestone is where Percy if from. White Castle is where meat cookies are from. (Fun Fact: The little holes is a White Castle patty are speed holes!)
What people don't realize about Grog hitting Sylas in the balls, vampires are resistant to non magical damage, so literally a punch to the balls is nothing, not to mention the regeneration they have.
You two are the first people I've seen notice the lack of reflection in the mirror, the necklace, AND the fact that only Sylas is a vampire, not Delilah. Really nice job!
Silas Briarwood probably does have balls, it’s just more likely that he’s just that very, very tough. Notice how he wasn’t so concerned with even Grogs giant axe, until Pike made it glow with Holy energy? That’s why Delilah Briarwood immediately saw that Pike’s blessing on Grog’s weapon was a major danger, so she attacked Pike to make her drop her spell.
He is a vampire, he controls the blood flow of his body, so if u are a vampire u wouldnt let blood in a weak area all time, since u could use it just when u need it
