Naming the attacks Was always a thing. I still remember my childhood more then 25 years ago, seeing the og Dragenball and goku using his first kamehameha 😂❤
They called it Kaiju No. 9 several times last week, even before that scene. I'm trying to remember if they called him that before. Shinomiya likely reported him after the exam, she could do that without revealing Kafka, so they likely gave him the designation sometime later.
I suspect No. 9 may be responsible for all the new, more powerful kaiju. He strikes me as a mad scientist, experimenting to make new kaiju.
I think he was officially given that name after Ichikawa reported his shape-shifting powers. The radio broadcast that revealed his existence to the public referred to him as Kaiju No. 9 and so did Mina during her talk with Kafka in her office.
Kaiju No 10 is just a good little fighty boy.
According to the spin off, they were originally going to give Shinomiya a Buster Sword like weapon. But during the test she struggled with a crab type Kaiju and found the axe which she then used to kill it. The scene was them officially issuing her the signature weapon.
They indeed named it Kaiju no 9, ill check what episode it was..
It was episode 8, when they showed the guy who stopped the car because that blonde that was actually Kaiju no. 9 was walking in the middle of the road, and then he got inside the body of that guy with a car, they said then that the codename given to it is kaiju no 9

Lmao Carson at this point you should know that fans hate when you compare their fav anime to another one. Like no fan likes to hear their fav anime "copied" from other shonen. Shonen fans are generally always fighting with each other on daily basis on Twitter. So when you say stuff like that, they won't like it bcoz it automatically determined which anime is superior. I'm not a big kaiju fan or demon slayer fan so I couldn't care less about what you said but the triggered comment section is very much understandable.

The wyverns were quite different than the kaiju from the exam. Those have soft underbellies but these had reinforced bellies and have to be shot in the back. That goes to show how many different types of kaiju there are.
They did name it Kaiju #9 in the show, mentioned it multiple times.
They did an excellent job with this anime, really conveyed the urgency of the situation well.

In the manga the author did plan of giving her a dragonslayer sword but I'm glad he gave her a huge axe instead.

Yeah, it’s been pretty formulaic at this point. I don’t expect anything different next week, but I guess we’ll see. Only things keeping me going are that I like Kafka’s character and the mystery around the kaiju are interesting.
Also, agreed with the named attacks. It felt forced with Shinomiya. At least it makes sense for Hoshina; they’re family techniques. Naming attacks doesn’t feel like it fits Shinomiya’s personality
bro, i know where u r coming from but not all fighting style thingy is copied from demon slayer u know :) it is getting annoying when u blame everything happened in this anime is copied from another. I know there are similarities but u cant blame every little thing. just saying

Seems like we reaching the stage when people started dropping the manga after realizing it's really generic. The beginning portion of the story was the strongest so Kaiju no 8 hype quickly died down.
Truly a demon slayer moment
There's still peak moments tho. I think the next arc had some really good writing
Yep definitely the first episode gave a impression that it would be something different but now it feels like the whole cleaning crew was never a thing he has barely used that knowledge in a battle and the latest arc has all the boxes checked for a very generic all out war each mc is paired up with a strong kaiju they lose at first then get a sad backstory then power up and win and the latest chapter just pissed everyone off. There is pretty much no story (generic at max) and the fights are good but the anime has subpar animation most of the time . Rly sucks I rly had high hopes for it
