Just started using PT about 2 weeks ago upgrading from using Mixcraft for 10+ yrs. You've made the PT 'learning curve' that everybody claims to be so steep so easy. Any DAW is gonna seem complicated to a beginner, but once you get going, I've learned, its really just a matter of learning the layout/workflow of whatever DAW you're using thats 'new' to YOU. Thanks so much for these tutorials man, KEEP GOIN!
Im knew music recording, mixing and making beats. Though Im still an artist I have my own studio and dont know how to do anything except write music. Im looking to get quality training. Your videos help a lot. Keep it coming bro.
彡〆Dj Willy〆彡 yeah I don’t know of any other daws other than logic that give you the tempo as quick as that, but there are programs online that give you the tempo if you just upload the file and I used them for a while before I got Logic, and they’re great, so you can try them
@@jdsforza9313 its not about the bpm as i can know them easily but when u type them in the daw it never get it right precise and accurate so it forces u to keep cutting and pasting loops and running here and there in the project loool Was thinking of selling one of my laptops to buy and try mac
@@DeejayWilly well then yeah I really dont know how to help you there, but if you were thinking about trying mac, I highly recommend mac and using logic and pro tools on the mac platform, logic is great, you can get it from the app store and pro tools works with mac os seamlessly, you wont be disappointed, and if you are for some reason, just send the shit back lol, their return policy is very fair
It doesn’t automatically select the 2 bar for me to edit it after I find my 2 bar... it selects it for a time for me to noticed I did it but won’t let me edit??
@@milesmcleod4385 Sounds like you are trying to make a selection during playback, but you have "Insertion Follows Playback" toggled. In command focus mode, press the "n" key.
After I did everything the beat was chopped and screwed but not in a good way lol I’m using Pro Tools First. And saw you reply to somebody bout Set Up menu and Preferences but don’t see that stuff under Setup in PT First. Any other way to turn off the elastic audio stuff ?
I make it all the way to the part where you enter in bar 1 and bar 3. After I hit ok it makes the beat very slow during playback. Im using a demo pro tools so maybe that could be the reason
I come back to this video EVERY time I need to find the tempo. I finally heard you say 'hold down shift' when in slip mode!!! Before that I was always losing my selection when I clicked to try and adjust it. Thanks WW!
when I try to add in my start and end point my 1-3 my selection jumps over to bar 1-3 not even over my original selection its start from the first 2 bars any tips?
Whenever I use this I find the tempo but it always throws everything off. The beat is extremely slow and it never matches up with the grid. Help!!! Lol
KoDyBWM this is happening because you have elastic audio turned on in your session. Go to setup menu> preferences> under the editing tab make sure “new tracks default to tick time base” is turned off.
Also in the edit window, make sure the tracks are set to sample base and that elastic audio is not turned on! email m if you need more help. sorry for the late reply.
2:08 Does the latency settings affect how sharp the markers will be placed? I mean it's not a Midi command but I've noticed that larger the buffer size is longer I have to wait for computer to react to me pressing play/stop... 2:56 I think you are cutting off the attack of the Kick here. Isn't there an option for auto-finding a zero-crossing points while selecting? *how about beats where the Kix are always late? I mean I'd do the same as you, but I'm asking cuz you might have an answer for the question. I definitely don't have it yet.
Man, greetings from Argentina! you teach really good. my question is about not the tempo, but the bars, i mean 4/4, or 3/4 etc. how can i find that on a song?
Bro how can I change my pro tool preferences? I using your technique with the down and up keys to highlight my bars but as soon as I hit the space bar my selection disappears.
Once I get the tempo. There is no where to enter the updated Bpm. Once u click the starting marker. It just shows the location. Did pro tools change the format?
Wayne.wav cool.it would be good if u can touch on width too. A lot of pro songs sound wide. I use a few tricks but still haven't been able to get that width. So the full mix tutorial would be good. Looking forward to it
good video man helping a lot but when i entre the 1 and 3 when finding the tempo it moves the highlighted section to the beggingn of the track and shifts the whole thing forwards if that makes any sense? lol new to this stuff
i don't understand... wen i use identify beat it slows down the beat i import also, so its a mess... y does protools mess with my original tempo on my song????
Im following this step by step and i have no idea where im going wrong. Ive done it like 3 times and the grid on my edit window wont adjust to the beat It seems that yours is already set to your beat before you even start the process Do you mind doing one where your protools session isnt already set to your beat so we can see when exactly its supposed to take effect?
Thanks for the information. Got a quick question. What if I was given a piano line to "Here and Now" by Luther Vandross. My client thought the tempo was (55 bpm) and he played to the click however its way off and fluctuating. I need to do something to get a meter in order to be able to sync this track to at-least be able to build the timing so I can orchestrate this. Normally my clients come to me but he sent me this Piano line from Out of town. I hope I explained this properly. THANKS AGAIN.
since i came across your videos and i like what you are doing ill let on a lil secret to get the tempo every time in seconds. get virtual dj 8 drop your track on a turntable and you got your bpm. dial it in in pro tools. i been doin this since pro tools 7. works every time. try it and do a vid for the engineers.. also when you get virtual dj go to options and turn off tempo sync so your pitch slider will stay at zero but if you forget just click the button in the middle and it will jump to zero and your bpm will be correct
The first pro tool video that's enjoyable to watch and i'm learning without falling a sleep.
Amen to that 🤙🏽

i cant imagine how hard is it to just find bpm of a song with all the technology around in other DAWS pro tools is in the flintstones era
facts man, in logic you click 2 buttons and you got the BPM instantly, this is kinda annoying

I need some help with the keyboard controls!!!
Turn off “insertion follows playback” there’s a button for it in the edit toolbar. Or if using command focus hit the letter “n” on your keyboard.
after following instructions selection is no longer lined up and sample speed is way wrong.

Easiest way to find the tempo is to make the beat yourself 🤷🏿♂️😂😂😂

If you use tab to transient with this method it streamlines the workflow and takes out the extra steps of trying to get to right on the down beat 😉

Download bpm on your phone tape and go 👍 5 seconds
big bro, please can you make a tutorial on how to set perfectly the level of a vocal on a beat when you are mixing🙏🙏🙏🙏

what do u do if the tempo isn't right at the end ?
boy i owe u some money. u came thru with the knowledge. im in college in a studio recording class and i gotta turn in a project
Lmao this video screams 2016 but super helpful regardless thank you wavy
How do you make a 2 bar selection?
in my pro tools the identify beat is not letting me click it,why is that?
Open the transport window and be sure the conductor is turned on. You cant use IDB without that.

My identify beat is grayed out can I fix with just a click
Yo when I got my selection highlighted how to I refine? Everytime my selection starts over and I cnt correct the start and finish of my selection
You have to click and hold the red arrow and drag it from there.
@@jlamusic7729 I figured it out...he explains it later on....hold shift and click to make your selection
When you got the selected area (Hold Down Shift) You must Be In Slip Mode

It seems that yours is already set to your beat before you even start the process
Do you mind doing one where your protools session isnt already set to your beat so we can see when exactly its supposed to take effect?
Toggle conductor mode on and off. Maybe that’ll help. Sometimes with that mode on it doesn’t allow you to change the bpm
Awesome! But later on in the track, the tempo i set becomes out of sync, why is it so? How to solve it..??
How do I delete the bar and beat marker?
Find beat doesn't work, i've already selected transport
Jeez!! I just need to click a button on FL Studio. PT needs an update mehnn 😢
Does this work on wavs and mp3's..I've demo'd mp3's and after buying the wav the vocals I recorded to the mp3 don't line up
WITH OLDSCHOOL BEATS IT DOESNT WORKS GREAT, I THINK ONLY WITH NEW CLEAN BEATS WHERE YOU CAN SEPERATE THE BARS GREAT
How did you do that stutter?

It doesn’t work with newer versions because the selection process isn’t the same
