Hey girl, just letting you know, there is actually SIX varieties (that I’m aware of) of Scindapsus Pictus. • Scindapsus Pictus Jade Satin • Scindapsus Pictus Argyraeus • Scindapsus Pictus Exotica • Scindapsus Pictus Silvery Anne • Scindapsus Pictus Silver Lady • Scindapsus Pictus Silver Silver Splash There may even be more! :) Ps love you, you’re videos are great!
Wow that’s a lot!! I had no clue there were that many. I saw that there were different names for the varying amounts of silver on the exotica & Argyraeus. On my exotica, it seems like a regular exotica with some extra silvery leaves in some spots. I didn’t know if people were just naming them differently for the variations of silver or if they were actually different cultivars. But now I know, thank you for informing me! Looks like I will have to be on the hunt for the ones I don’t have 😁
There is also scindapsus treubii that comes in a moonlight (silver) and dark (near black) form. I think Gabriella Plants also has their own version called a silver satin which i think might be the same as the silver splash.
Gabriella Plants has a post somewhere on their IG page that has a diagram showing all of the different scindapsus and what they look like. Many of them look so alike it’s difficult to tell them apart. It’s taken me a lonnnnnnnnng time to be able to tell which is which, and that can even be made more difficult when sellers label accidentally label them incorrectly. They’re all beautiful so it’s really not that important imo. A note about the Scindapsus Truebii: the moonlight is easier to care for than the nearly black, but both are a far, far cry from the ease of a pothos. I’m only putting this out there because I see those two becoming more available in the states. I’ve killed numerous of both, and just gave up on the dark form. I have four moonlight right now and they’re some of the most diva plants I own. There are many sellers labeling the Truebii as a Moonlight Pothos and that can be really misleading for anyone expecting it to be an easy going plant. Great video. You’re adorable!!
I wish I was your friend 😂 literally none of my friends enjoy plants like I do and they look at me all crazy when I get roots on my propagations or finding a new plant.
I know exactly what you mean, same here! I only have my husband to share my love for indoor plants. Luckily for me, he is into succulents and driftwood. He makes these beautiful arrangements using both items.
I joined a plant group on Facebook and now I feel so normal and have plant friends that get excited over everything with me! There are a bunch of local plant groups, I highly suggest finding yours. We do trades and plant swaps when we aren't in quaratine. It's fun!
I can relate, even I want a friend who understands my love and feelings that I have towards my plants or any plants for that matter 😁. They say I’m over crazy about them, and yes I’m I can’t deny it, they are my therapy 💚.
I love love love my exotica! It sits on a shelf in my entrance by the front door. I told hubby if there’s ever a fire be sure to grab my plant on the way out! 😂 I do love my argyraeus too though. I only had a small one but recently found a hanging pot of it at Lowe’s. I had to get it!
yes, jennifer, i too am addicted to scindapsus plants! ...my lounge has turned into a jungle , and i woulnt have it any other way.... Look out for scindapsus silvery ann if you have not got it,,, gets more silvery as it ages. just love them!

THANK YOU!!! This was so in depth. I bought mine from the grocery store and could not figure out how to take good care of it. I can not tell you how grateful I am for your video! So in-depth and very helpful
You've just taught me that I actually have an Argyraeus on the way that I ordered today! I didn't know there was a difference in "silver pothos" thanks for the massively informative video on this gorgeous plant.
Wow I just bought an Exotica on Saturday and came straight to your page today for some tips and there the video was! Perfect timing and it was so helpful!
I’d have to say that I am a big fan of the Exotica. I have recently purchased an Exotica and I love how there is more of the silveriness on the leaves.
Kat Natural 👋🏼 Hi. Just wanted to add that I bought an Exotica from Planterina too. I got it in January of ‘21 and it’s doing amazingly well (it’s December ‘21 now). It’s gotten so big.
Could be overwatering or too much fertilizer. Use organic or less fertilizer, use worm casting to top the soil if already 6mons or more in pots since soil needs nourishments. Stop touching ur plants & moving places.
Hi! I’m so glad I found your video!! I am a brand new plant mama, and I bought a HUGE silver satin exotica because it was so gorgeous!! It’s almost 4 feet tall and is growing up a thick wooden post. I thought it was just a pretty pothos, so I was a bit surprised when I got my total at the register😳 At the same time I also bought a money tree, and a monstera deliciousa (think I spelled that wrong) and since these were all really big, I grabbed a cute little plant without realizing it was another exotica; it’s the exact same species as my big one but I didn’t realize that until I got it home lol!! I guess I really love how that specific plant looks? Anyways, I thought I had pothos plants!! Hopefully this gorgeous plant is an easy beginner plant because I just love it! Ok back to your video- hopefully I can learn exactly what my new plant needs so I can keep it looking amazing! New subscriber here! -Nora Edited to say thank you! This was so super helpful!!!
I have a sindapsis pictus argerious. I wasn't sure what it was. I have it hanging in a north facing window and the vines are about 10' long the leaves are green & velvety. Thank you for this video I find it very helpful.
that plant grew in my garden for no reason at all. I didnt know what was it but it looked too cute to be common undergrowth so i made a little research and i found this video, ty for the info:)
Hi beautiful girl love from New Zealand 🇳🇿 I was searching to find the right name of the plant and I found you 😊 I'm one of the indoor plants lover and I'm Happy to get what I wanted from your video thanks so much ❤
hello! new to your channel but i love your content. my friend gave me silvery anne for a rehab project because it is extremely neglected. it was a large size pot however it was basically all cuttings instead of a whole plant. super curly leaves and THIN stems lol finally after a few weeks 3 pieces bounced back fully and i’m thinking of propagating the healthy pieces
what id like to know is why is my scindapsus' leaves curling even though the soil is super moist? i received it from the internet and it was moist, leaves doing ok, and i said i could wait another week to water it but the leaves are curling inwards although the soil is still super moist! help!
I would make sure it is enough light and try airing out the soil. You can do this by poking the soil with a chop stick gently to create more air flow for the plant :) mine is doing what yours is doing but I had cuttings that I just put in soil so it’s still acclimating to the soil. Just keep an eye on it and the roots and give it some time. I’ve noticed that scindapsus take much longer to root (from cuttings) and acclimate. I hope this was helpful!
The local plant seller sold me three pots of silver satin pothos but after watching your video on the Scindapsus Pictus 'Argyraeus' and Scindapsus Pictus 'Exotica' for the nth time, I can identify the plant as a Scindapsus Pictus 'Exotica'.
Love the video. I actually have 10 of the Scindapsus variety. Besides the more common ones, I have some more rare like the Silver Hero, Dark Form, Treubii Moonlight, Silver Splash and Lucens. I love the Exotica though with the big fat leaves. Mine is pretty big.
I was obsessed with the exotica from the moment I first saw one, but now I have an arygyreus (or Silver Anne 🤷♀️) and at this point in my life I am satisfied. They just have a very slightly different effect on the vibes or asthetic. And I think my silver Anne fits better with my current environmental asthetic. Someday that will change though, and I think I will crave the exotica again. 🙃
I would have to say Exotica is my favorite but I'm biased because that's the only one of the two that I have! I didn't realize that it was not a pothos plant and got it thinking it would be like my other pothos and it is not. They seem to be cousins but not necessarily the same so that's been fun learning something different. I just brought mines into an office environment because I also have the NE facing window situation at home so I'm hoping to get some more growth from it here with wayyy more light throughout the day!
Hello Erika thank you for sharing this video. I have the same plant cuts, I had the cuts in water all summer but they did not root!! 😔 not sure why.. can you try to guess why? What’s reasons could be connected it with? Thank you 🙏🏻 ❤️
Just saw this video. I really like them both. I love the bigger leaves of the Exotica but the green leaves of the Silver Anne. My plant space is limited not sure if I will get one. Just have a golden pothos for now. Could you do a video on grow lights and a separate one on watering? That would be great.
I just started planting some Argyraeus cuttings. I came across your channel while looking for some propagation and care tips. Thanks, I learned something from your vlog. Btw, I just clicked like and subscribe. 🙂
So true its confusing me too at first🤔 I thought theres 3 kinds🤔 *Exotica- very big leaves, *Silvery Anne(smaller and more silver, uneven pattern than exotica, like the other one you show) and *Argyraeus. But theres more other form, *Silver Splash and *Silver Lady. 🤯 Thanks for this video, I learned a lot for the care of this beautiful plant👍
There are just so many versions omg! I don’t even think they look that different from each other 😭😭 Thanks for letting me know the other names, I will definitely be researching & picking them up if I see some in store hehe
I have both! I couldn't pick, lol :-) I like the speckling on the argyraeus, and the giant leaves of the exotica, so I just love both for different reasons. They have 12'+ vines and have taken over my office. They did get a little leggy this summer, so I am rooting some cuttings to fill them back out.
I love scindapsus! I bought both the exotica and argyraeus 2 days ago. I gave the argyraeus to my mom. I didn't know which was which so thank you for the clarification! 💜
I just purchased an argyreus after coming across the last one in the store. It looks better in person and I love it so far. Now that I see how easy it is to propagate and care for, I might break some off to gift to others.
I just found out I have an exotica! Your advice about the leaves 🍃 curling up is on point...I was wondering why mine did that. Thank you, I love your videos. Please do another string of hearts video...mine is having big time issues and it’s making me sad. 🍃💕
I have the Silvery Anne, and DID have an Exotica... I'm down to one leaf in water :( I will get another starter plant to add to my one leaf, once the weather warms up! Love them both!
Hey Girl Hey! Oh my gosh I totally agree that Argyraeus was definitely the plant I liked more, until I saw your video that is, seeing them side by side like this is incredible and I now know I can't live without adding both to my collection. lol. Thank you for the wonderful comparison, tips, tricks and all in all the video because it was very informative.
Yess, I completely agree!! They are both so pretty, but mostly when they’re separated & with their own little plant group. Gotta love them individually
Does it make a difference popping many leaves to propagate in one same container vs each leaf in a different glass? I use just regular short water glasses and I can fit about 10 leaves in there. Not sure if that affects them negatively
Also, I have one last question: is a nod with aerial roots better or worse for propagation? I have some vines that are super long and has about 6 or 7 inches of aerial roots coming out (i don’t even know how that happened). Should I trim those roots before putting in water or will they give me an advantage?
hi just love your videos and i just got an Arguraeus and she’s just gorgeous i’ve had her about a month and i want to propagate her so bad, but everytime i go to do it i just can’t, she’s so beautiful i just can’t seem to make myself do it. maybe in another month i’ll be able to make myself cut one of her long beautiful stems. wish me luck...
Thank you!! Ugh, I completely know how you feel 😫 sometimes they’re just too gorgeous to chop! Since it’s spring, it’ll grow back a lot faster though. So you have that to look forward to when you’re able to do it 🤩 good luck!
Hi Karol. I need more info however just from what u said you might be overwatering or under watering. Sorry I don’t have definitive info just going on what u said. Thx🪴
Glad you made this video. I bought two different ones from same company an when they arrived it was exact plant! Grrrr The Company even sold a third one under different name an all the plants were the same. 🤪
Great informational video, and your sound is so clear! Whatever you're using for a mic, it was a good choice. Question - you didn't mention what happens to the plant at the point where you cut the piece off. Does it just stop growing there, or does a node take over, or does it split and add more growth?
A little bit ago, I went searching for either of these at all my local shops, and no one had anything other than Golden Pothos...so I ordered some cebu blue pothos online. Yeah, I was so upset I couldn't find what I wanted locally, I got all spiteful and ordered something else online instead. When I finally do get some of these (the exotica ones) I'll tell it that story to ensure it knows what'll happen if it doesn't grow fast enough for my liking.
I always find these at Armstrong if you have one near you! I’m not sure if they have any outside of California because that’s where I live but you might have better luck with a nursery! The stores that sell plants around me don’t really have anything besides pothos either and it’s such a bummer.
Carl Fisher agreed! I was shocked to find one at my local Home Depot last year and I mean literally they had only one as I mentioned in my previous comment above I Purchased last February it is now almost 10 feet long and it’s hanging in my bathroom so been very lucky with it.
A good detailed vid and will certainly help me care for my new plant. I may have missed this but which of the two has the longest trails for training up walls please? I’m sure i read they can grow as long as 6 metres?

My favorite is the Exotica, it has more personality. I have a baby one that just arrived from planterina. Wonderful video lady!!!!!
How’s your exotica doing now? I’ve been debating if I should order from Planterina, absolutely love her.
@@KatNaturalBeauty hi lady it's doing great and growing so much, thanks for asking. I like it because it's simple, not a diva

All my plant’s leaves are yellowing :( is it somehow getting too much light? It’s not in front of a window, if that helps

Where did you get that white shelving unit behind you? I'm looking for a nice plant shelf just like that with taller shelves.
I think I like them both. I do like the smaller leaves of the argyraeus & more of the variations you can get vs the exotica though.
Awesome video.....where did you get your glass bottles from
scindapsus are my fav :) thanks for the video Erika! some great tips
where did you buy that bucket and scoop for repotting? It's so cute!
Where did you get that bowl and scooper? I love it!
Yes!! I was going to comment the same thing, I need that matching set haha
I have lots of Epipremnun aureum schindapsus looks great too I think I'll find one of those in my area.
i like both. maybe not when they are side by side, but i see how nice they will look near other plants and i want them both 😅
Yess, I completely agree!!
Yes i like.. informasi sangat berguna bagi pecinta tanaman hias. Sungguh mulia hati.. semoga panjang umur dan sehat selalu..
Thank you! I always wondered what the difference was!!
hi just love your videos and i just got an Arguraeus and she’s just gorgeous i’ve had her about a month and i want to propagate her so bad, but everytime i go to do it i just can’t, she’s so beautiful i just can’t seem to make myself do it. maybe in another month i’ll be able to make myself cut one of her long beautiful stems. wish me luck...
Thank you!! Ugh, I completely know how you feel 😫 sometimes they’re just too gorgeous to chop! Since it’s spring, it’ll grow back a lot faster though. So you have that to look forward to when you’re able to do it 🤩 good luck!
Thank-you for that potting demonstration. I love the Argyereous plant 🌿💚
This was great. I had one but didn’t know which type it was....now I know. Will be on the lookout for an exotica version to have as well.
Do you have a video about satin jade? Propagation/care video?
Hey Erika, I really enjoy your vids. My favorite is the Exotica but I have them both in my collection.
Do you cover the drainage hole with something? If not, why doesn't the dirt fall out? I have the Exotica and love it because it is different.
Hi, I’m new to the plant world, curious if the stems for new leaves are yellow if that’s normal or I’m doing something wrong
😱😱 oh my gosh I can’t believe it!!! I’m sorry that happened, I hope it wasn’t too expensive. Hopefully they do something about it ☹️
I luv ur innocent smile thnx for sharing ur video 👍
Wow very nice indoor plants.i have the exotica and i love it. May i know what plant/tree behind you beside the zz plant.thanks
I’m looking for the exotica & cant find it, I have the silvery Ann but can’t find the exotica, I can’t wait until I do😊
Etsy has several sellers with Exoticas🌱❤🍃🤗
Great informational video, and your sound is so clear! Whatever you're using for a mic, it was a good choice. Question - you didn't mention what happens to the plant at the point where you cut the piece off. Does it just stop growing there, or does a node take over, or does it split and add more growth?
Thanks! It will grow a new vine off to the side on the last node or one node above. I hope this makes sense
@@ErikaLodes Thanks. I was hoping it would grow 2, so that taking a cutting would fill out the original plant.
I got the Algeria in Home Depot last month. Also saw some in Lowes
😂😂😂 When you get some, they better know they’re on thin ice & get growing!
Thanks for the info. So fun learning. I have the Anne one
I have an exotica that was a propagated start. It’s leaves are very curled. Will the leaves uncurl? It seems to be taking so long to uncurl.🙁
Do the leaves curl if they have too much light?
Can i directly repot a newly cut leaf with aerial root?
Can we put Scindapsus Pictus Exotica in the direct outside sunlight?
Scindapsus Pictus Argyraeus is one my favorite plants
A good detailed vid and will certainly help me care for my new plant. I may have missed this but which of the two has the longest trails for training up walls please? I’m sure i read they can grow as long as 6 metres?
Thank you for this video. I recently purchased the EXOTICA :) now I know the name and how to take care of it!
I love your smile so much 😍
Is it normale that the leaves are curling in the first weeks of propagation?
My office has a ton of the exotica and I remember I first thought it was so ugly. Today I looked up your video coz I wanna take a cutting home LOLOLOL
Can i propagate the node only in water without the leaves?
