    Skipped my favourite line, with Wilfred.
    "You never killed a man"
    "Don't say that like it's shameful."
    Bernard Cribbins never killed anyone in his service, which he was proud of. A little inclusion on Davies part.

      What is that certainty based on?
      Every facet of her life was under the microscope- she even had someone check her bedsheets every month to see if she could still have children. Also, I don't know if she would risk getting pregnant.

    And so it begins. We’re near the end of the Tenth Doctor’s era. Really happy to see that Blind Wave like Tennant’s Doctor. I do enjoy this episode. It’s bizarre and a bit all over the place but I still enjoy it because it has some real good scenes and moments. Part 1 is a serviceable set up for Part 2 which is much stronger. The WTF moments makes this even more reaction worthy. I love that they brought back Wilf as a companion. It’s what a majority of fans really wanted to see happen.
    The scene with The Doctor and Wilf in the cafe is one of the main highlights. Definitely one of my favourite scenes. It’s heartfelt to see them being emotional. Wilf’s desire of wanting Donna to change and go back to the way she was during her travels with The Doctor, him mentioning how she’s subconsciously sad and that she’s making due. It’s really sad. Even The Doctor also reflecting on how he could actually die before a regeneration is quite sad too. I love how shocked Eric and Calvin were at the end! Haha!Calvin’s shock caught Aaron off guard! :D

    Honestly, knowing how Davies is, that's probably exactly how this episode came about: starting with The Master Race, and working backward.
    For comparison: The Sound of Drums, the entire story, the notion of the drums in his head, began with that song. Then he just projected backward from there.

    Well, I was hyped for this reaction for a reason, and it definitely payed off. It's not a favorite of mine either, though I like it quite a lot, but it's a gold mine for reaction material. So many WTF and "HUH?!" moments. That cliffhanger might be one of my favorites in DW, and the reaction did not disappoint in the least. Also NICE, some Timothy Dalton love! I like him a lot too.
    The Master being very... Master in this. But I'm glad everyone's loving Wilf. He's the best. I think I've yet to encounter a DW fan who doesn't like Wilf - this might finally be our constant that we can all agree on (watch, as someone jumps into the comments just to claim that they don't like Wilf).
    Well. I certainly can't wait for next week. Also Lono, you're really playing with my emotions here, using This is Gallifrey AGAIN as the outro music. Are you TRYING to make me cry?!

    • @hagridmary
      @hagridmary 6 лет назад +30

      Zak Rosenfeld, As soon as he sees Wilfred in that machine he immediately decides that he's going to sacrifice himself to save him (because he's The Doctor and that's what he does). He's only having a tantrum because he was told he was going to die and he was so desperate to overcome it and in that moment he realises he's failed - you can see it in his eyes.
      He's being anything but selfish! It's just the fact that it had been prophesied and it being inevitable is what made him angry.

    • @ms_scribbles
      @ms_scribbles 6 лет назад +21

      Not at all. Please, if you want to see selfish, watch the Doctors that know trouble is coming and pout that they're busy fishing and don't want to be disturbed. THAT is a selfish tantrum.
      This was the act of a character that was actually written like a real person. (Note I didn't say human, just real. With emotions beyond "hurr durr he's *weird*") Even amazing people like the Doctor reach the end of their endurance. And Ten reached the end of his endurance, after all he's gone through over and over and over again in his short life. No other Doctor had gone through as much as he had in the short amount of time he'd been alive. At some point you just....break.
      What makes Ten a better person than most of us is that after that outburst of bitterness and anger, he took a breath, steadied himself, and did what he had to do. Even if it meant his death. A death, I might add, that he wasn't even sure he'd regenerate from.

    • @hagridmary
      @hagridmary 6 лет назад +11

      StormWolf, I agree. Ten's tantrum suited his character and everything he'd been through. Twelve's refusal to regenerate, on the other hand, sort of just came out of nowhere.

      Tom Monty I actually like this story. The first part is clunky and rushed, but it serves it's purpose well enough as a set up for the 2nd part. TEOT part 2 is for the most part, really good. Obviously, it's incredibly emotional, I can't wait for the reactions to certain scenes in that episode. Overall, TEOT is a solid 7.5/10 for me. I really can't understand the overwhelming hate for it in this comment section though. Ironically and hilariously, it seems to be the same few people commenting over and over again.

    This first part is fine. It serves it's purpose as a set up for TEOT part 2 well enough. It feels a bit like filler though and it makes me wish this story wasn't split in half at all. It wasn't really needed because aside from the scenes with Wilf and few of the other plot heavy bits, nothing else really happened. All of the important bits from TEOT part 1 could be condensed down to about 25 minutes. What they should've done is aired a 90 minute special on Christmas day instead.
    The 2nd part is really good though and I'm really looking forward to it.

    Guys. After The End of Time, Part 2, before you move on to series five, you gotta do a twofer of these short things:
    Doctor Who - 500 Miles
    The Ballad of Russell and Julie
    They've got nothing to do with anything, really, but they were part of the whole celebration of the change of the guard, and spiritually serve to cap off the Davies/Tennant era of the show.

    A couple seasons ago Jack asked the Doctor what happened to the Tinelords and Daleks and the Doctor said he timelocked them and the war. Since then he's never offered any explanation as to how or why he did that.

    I remember, for me, it was so sad and difficult to say goodbye to Ten and to move to Eleven. But I eventually did, and I learned to appreciate each Doctor for who they are. For Ten, he felt he was losing his connections to the people he had come to love and care about so much; I see Ten, in many ways, as not wanting change. He also connected to humans so much that he also feared death and didn't want to regenerate. Despite what some may think about the writing, David Tennant's acting was freaking brilliant and he shows what so many humans do at that moment of choice: selfishness, despair, and finally resolve and choosing to save one more human, because to him, they are always worth it, even if this time he struggled to get there

    So yeah, this episode was the first time I saw David Harewood and Tracy Ifeachor (aka the Naismiths), and then cut to a few years later, he pops up as Martian Manhunter on Supergirl, and THEN a couple years later here SHE comes as Kuasa on Legends. Just imagine me losing my damn mind when I saw her for a split second in the Legends trailer, just recognized her by her smile...
