Early Wednesday morning Knott’s Berry Farm hosted a special event for their latest attraction, Voyage to the Iron Reef. Both press and annual passholders alike were invited to be the first to experience the innovative attraction on its opening day.
Seems like a good remodel of the Kingdom of the Dinosaurs space. It definitely touches on the spot's arcade game history.
And after 5 years this ride is closing turning into Knotts Bear-y Tales: Return to the Fair

Two years ago I lost to my two daughters. "Not again!" I told myself" Last year I, well, I didn't come in last. Fun game.
I went on this when it was Knott's Beary Tales ride.
It is now heading' back...

I remember the days when this attraction was a slow ride through scenes of stuffed bears that smelled like berries (Knotts Beary Tales). This new ride has to be a lot more entertaining than what it used to be.
Actually at in point it was beary tales but most of the rest of the time it was the dinosaur ride

I remember that used to be Knott's Bear-y Tales. My favorite ride as a kid. Kind of like It's a Small World....but with bears. Had fun on Iron Reef though. My kids beat me my a mile. I found out each person's laser is a different color. Remembering that for next time.
i preferred the more immersive and atmospheric feeling of the previous attractions this building once took over, but im glad they finally put something there

The sea captain that's making the speech, is that the same actor that plays the sheriff during the Hanging for Knott's Scary Farm? It almost sounds like the same voice.
This ride single-handedly gave me a phobia of sea creatures
I had to wait 1 hour and 48 minutes for it lol
why is every new dark ride not in disney/universal a shooting ride. The theme of this ride is gold, but instead of telling a very interesting story you're just shooting. the ride doesnt look bad, but i think they missed a great opportunity.
The actor that is given the speech in the beginning it's the same actor that is The Law Man in the Hanging in Halloween.

Ps. I worked Knott's Scary farm and I know him he's a really cool dude.

The ride looks ok, But I feel they cold have done so much with giving the ride some kind of back story, or a hero to follow through to protect on his mission to retrieve something from the iron reef rather than just shooting monsters aimlessly. It lacks story in my opinion . I was wondering the entire time whats the point?

Was at Knott's last September and I could not tell whether they were or not working on renovating that ride it looked abandoned I'm glad they did tho I'm not sure if I like what they did with it any way good for Knott's now to work on other rides that are no longer being used Knott's has potential to be a great theme on its own kinda like Lego land .

Is it bad that I don't know the story to this ride because I've never had it wait in that room with the tv screen story (the one that sometimes smells moldy) because the line has always been short

I think this ride looks good, its longer then wonder mountain's guardian but doesn't feature the same "surprise ending" of the drop, or at least from what i could see.

Yeah, I'm done with Knotts, loved it as a kid, but they got rid of so much that made the park unique in it's own way. I know that Kingdom of the Dinosaurs wasn't as well received in it's later years, but they could of done something better then a cheap video game nock off of other rides that do it better.
Kingdom of the Dinosaurs was my favorite as a kid.

I thought it said "get ready to die"...
Yeeeeeaaaaa....Not a huge fan of the over-use of screens. This is the second theme park attraction after Transformers where the enemies are freaking MECHANICAL creatures and yet you don't see a single animatronic. It's better than nothing certainly, but after the amazing job they did with the Mine Train and Timber Mountain this feels like a bit of a dud in the "atmosphere" department.
I've ridden it, and I think that it has a pretty good atmosphere.
Are there physical sets to go with the screens? I couldn't really tell from the video.
Yea, I take back my initial cynicism. I'm just in general fairly against the over-use of screens. I have a friend who was at the event today and he told me it was a good mix with the physical stuff, but as I said it's hard to tell with the video. We'll be discussing it in a podcast tomorrow afternoon.
Also, apparently Bob Gurr loves this...which gives me a lot more hope.

Ride was good but the merchandise missed the boat. Not that much merchandise geared towards kids but stupid plush octopuses.
Why the hell are they selling Jack Skellington shirts? That's Disney's property..
They could of worked out something for that. I mean you see jack every were now, hot topic barnes and noble.

I hate when you can hear the "please remain seated" sound loop meant for the end of an attraction at the beginning of the ride. It ruins the theming for me and just seems lazy.

Iron reef suck.. should of just re-vamped kingdom of the dinosaur. Kingdom of the dinosaurs the most under appreciated ride. Beautiful artwork and displays. I wish they would have moved kingdom of the dinosaurs to the cabazon dinosaur museum.

LAME! This should have been a Knott's Bear Tales Pie Shooter. The "Submarine" theme is WAY too forced and the whole premise is just to damn silly for an 'epic' adventure....
