- A business owner in Oakland County was murdered and his wife was bound with duct tape by two impostors posing as DTE Energy workers investigating a supposed gas leak.
My wife wouldn't let our city water people in our house because they didn't notify us they were coming, when she spoke with their supervisor, he said ma'am, they had a marked vehicle, she said it could have been stolen.
Yeah and they act like you're the crazy one.. well here you go! Marked vehicle and all.

I experienced a similar situation back in 1995. I happened to have a gun, but they didn't know. They left quickly when I told them I was going to make a quick phone call to confirm the work order, and they could see me on the phone through the door window. That spooked them enough to leave. DON'T OPEN YOUR DOOR TO ANYONE YOU'RE NOT EXPECTING AND DON'T KNOW.

Do your homework and get a camera with your own DVR box (Digital Video Recorder). With at least 4 GB of storage!
Originally, police had easy access to Ring doorbell footage until they began misusing it by circumventing homeowners and directly contacting Amazon.

I'm sure all of those home owners have security cameras, so one of them likely has a video with the men and vehicle on it.
For an entire street not to have cameras, especially in a wealthy hood, it's near impossible.
Some do have cameras, I've installed security cameras in a few houses on that road.
Probably even a gated community with cameras at the gate. I don’t know but I don’t know why you would leave her alive if you were forced to shoot him, at that point the excuse of accidentally shot him is already a super tough sell especially if more than one half well placed round was fired.

The reason that ring doorbell is not allowing the police to see the videos at this time is because of the public outcry in the past because ring doorbell had a very close relationship with police departments across the United States which allowed the police department to use everybody's ring doorbell as a surveillance tool.

No, they can't. It is a private company that has private information on private citizens. Plus there was a public outcry many years ago whenever the police had complete access to every ring doorbell in the United States of America to use as surveillance cameras. As a result of this outcry ring doorbell changed their policy and now I have strict rules concerning the police department having access to video imagery.
A search warrant is a court order and the sheriff said they had one. Ring's refusal to abide by the search warrant could result in the judge who issued it subpoenaing Ring to court for a Show Cause hearing. Ring would be required to show cause why they shouldn't be held in contempt of court. Since the wife gave consent for the Sheriff's Office to have access to the video footage and the Sheriff's Office had a search warrant in hand, I think it should be done ASAP.

If there's a gas leak call and YOU didn't call them, yeah they will knock on your door BUT they will check the outside perimeter of the house. There has to be several situations at play from them to ask to go in. You still don't have to let them in. A supervisor will be called to the house to verify the call.
