      acsolares2 thanks for all the comments mate. Both are good bikes, in the end I traded the XR in for a 1200 GS Rallye. Not managed to vlog about it yet though as life has taken over. 😀

    Ah mate so chuffed for you. Amazing machine. Watching it brings back awesome memories. I'm just more sensitive to vibes and stuff having fibromyalgia, which is a shit of health condition but fuck it I still ride. And there's been plenty of bikes I've hated but my mates loved . Variety is the spice of life. I miss that up and down shifting more than anything. Planted bike and I was thrashing the life out of the demo. Maybe an accidentally wheelie also. Congrats buddy 👍🏻.Oh also I did like it in the red too.

    I picked mine up on May 28. Same as yours. First ride was 24 miles filtering on the M5 back from dealer.Second ride the next day was an epic 105 mile blast in which I named it holy field as it's the real deal.I got a bit too enthusiastic with the quick shifter though and stretched the chain like a washing line after 250 miles.Shame it's not slightly smoother but the rest makes up for it. This bike is a real sleeper.

      Nice one. How did you manage to stretch the chain?

    I think you made a great choice there, the XR looks like an epic bike. Nice choice of colour too, a dude near me had one in red briefly and it looks the absolute tits for it. Enjoy man

    Awesome Video.
    You were in the same position as me really. Kept the 800 for a year, and then move to the XR.
    How did you find the power difference from an 800 86bhp twin to a 1000 165bhp in line 4?

    • @CountMiffed
      @CountMiffed  6 лет назад +1

      Max Jackson I definitely noticed the difference. At the end of the day you are in control of the power so it’s down to your judgement. After having the XR and unfortunately having an accident (low speed) I decided to go for a change and got a GS Rallye, not as powerful but just as much fun.

    • @maxjackson3398
      @maxjackson3398 6 лет назад

      So you didn't feel that the bike was too much? I mean yeah, you're in control of the power.
      That's a shame bud.
      What was the main reason for changing?
      What advice would you give to someone in the same position as you on the F800 who wanted to move to an XR?

    • @CountMiffed
      @CountMiffed  6 лет назад +1

      Max Jackson although I didn’t feel like the power was too much, I decided that having only ridden for a year and then to jump on such a powerful bike probably wasn’t the best idea. It was a lot of fun but I found I got into a few uncomfortable moments coming into bends too quick. There very little engine breaking on the XR and if you are in experienced you get to a bend very quickly. I just found it was easy to get carried away and cut off my thinking time. With the GS I have just as much actually more fun as I feel like it’s enough power for me and the bike is just so capable. Bottom line, you know your riding ability so if you think you can handle the step up then just take it easy when you get one, they are fantastic bikesx

    The dealer said it was checked properly from new so I can only imagine that it was me abusing it too much in the first 250 miles. My quick shifter can be a bit clunky in the lower revs. So now I use the clutch for normal upshifts which is a bit smoother but use the qs when gassing it as it works well obviously then.

    Some people remove the centre stand and rear scaffolding for weight saving but I think it is fast enough anyway.

    • @CountMiffed
      @CountMiffed  8 лет назад

      Yeah it doesn't need to be any quicker

    I think it would be entirely fair to stick with the name you seem to have already given it: 'the beast'.
