We can enjoy a nice and quiet period now that Beryl has come and gone thanks, in large part, to our friend SAL.

Well, that was great, as usual Mark. Thank you so much! Have a great weekend.
Memories from the past. I remember Bertha of 1996! I was new to Miami, FL. since I had moved there the year before. I was full of anxiety due to all the South Florida network news stations closely watching the storm. I made preparations, and taped my apartment windows, bought batteries, water, etc. Fast forward to 2024, I have a 15KW generator and make all the yearly preparations, with no anxiety on losing power.
we just had another round of massive floods in Vermont where I live from Beryl's remnants literally on the anniversary of last year's devastating floods. I am lucky to not be as affected as others but I've been trying to help them however i can!
I was living in Leland, NC at the time of Hurricane's Bertha and Fran. Bertha made landfall (105 mph) on southeast North Carolina on July 12 and Fran about 2 months later (115 mph). I stayed in my house during Bertha, but went to a storm shelter during Fran. The eye of Fran went directly over Leland and the calmness of the eye had an eerie feeling to it. Oddly, I suffered more property damage from Bertha than I did from Fran. Still, my fascination with tropical storms and hurricanes continues to this day.
Looks like the Houston area wasn’t prepared like they should have been as far as power outages.
Much skinnier then! ;-D
Thanks Saharan air!😮 ❤
Mark out of curiosity that day during landfall of Bertha what was the highest wind gust your instruments recorded?
Give it a week or 10 days...

The poles on the right still standing tells me those were not placed deep enough and with no support.
As someone who does this, I would be really surprised if the poles were not set deep enough.
Go take a little tour, bring back some Tortuga Rum and Rum cakes.
Give it about 2 weeks
