When your hs wins multiple state championships it’s easier to care, but the hard part is getting those championships and that all comes from the middle schools, if they arent good the hs wont be
@@sparklymop thats what I was meaning, gotta have the super invested individuals to get those championships and then everyone else will be invested because of them(more to it obviously but thats how I think about it)
The kids won't care if the band director doesn't care. Hebron and its middle school feeders have several band directors and they are carefully picked and well trained. Their training comes from an extremely robust mentor network through TMEA but also DCI. These are teachers that REALLY love their jobs and they plant the desire to be good as early as 6th grade. So it starts really early and the culture is built on year after year. Andy Sealy also has a carefully constructed procedure that runs like clockwork....but more than that he's also a director that encourages strong student leadership and allows the students 1st chair to last chair to have a tremendous amount of ownership over their program. When band isn't just a class where a teacher is telling you what to do, but rather an organization where the strongest wills are given the power to set the pace and enact change among their peers...other kids will fall into step and a culture is created where the students genuinely want to succeed.
I refuse to believe this is a high school. I watched you guys at state and I literally cried because it was too good…. DCI level with blue devils type of thing. Saying hi all the way from cywoods hs
All I can say is that band staff has their mojo working to 1. Come up with this show idea and to 2. Get the kids to buy in to working that hard to learn something that tough. What the students got out of this was exceptional. Bravissimo Hebron!
Some of these queues they made up are a very sobering reminder that these are high school kids. It’s hilarious, and brings to light how much more impressive this really is musically from this group. I’m in awe every time I watch anything related to Penstriped.

Anthony Troupe wasn’t sure if it was something section leaders are told to do or if it’s just habit for multiple people. I noticed the other cam wearers on this channel don’t do it as much. You’d think his lungs would be worn out enough with all the playing, hah.
Wow, I'm a 22 year old grad student studying saxophone and y'all are pretty cracked. What are they feeding you LOL. Definitely couldn't do that when I was in high school
