Lovely video! I also hate wasting food, so what I do instead is invite the deity to share in the food with me. Usually a very simple "May you taste what I taste" and then take a moment to really concentrate on the flavours and the textures. I also have offering dishes out on my shrines where I leave the physical offerings like the acorns you talked about. Another way I like to offer my time and energy is indeed learning about them, writing about them both in articles and poetry, and making arts or crafts for their shrines.
I absolutely love this. I struggle with wasting food and some foods are simply NOT appropriate to leave out for the land spirits (my resident population of squirrels, raccoons, foxes, and possums!), but this is a beautiful way to bring the sacred into every meal.
@@junipercrow3535 Thank you! I had the same thing. The neighbourhood cats love our yard so I didn't want to leave anything out that could harm them. And I found that I had trouble "throwing out"/wasting food. So this was a great way to still make an offering but not endanger any wildlife or compromise my own values. I tried it once and basically never looked back!
This is soooo good, thank you Nike. A thing that I’m doing as a sort of offering to my deities is searching a great picture that represents then and using it as a wallpaper for my phone. Like, I have Lilith as screen lock, Lucifer as whatsapp background and Hekate and Baphomet as widgets. It’s a small thing but it’s a win win situation for me because 1- my iPhone is witchy as hell and that’s always a pro hahaha 2- whenever I use it I get to see them and be remembered that they are a fundamental part of my craft
When it comes to food offerings, I really like giving my ancestors an offering in the size of a bite of every meal I cook. I don't want to waste food, but I also want to leave the offering overnight. So I use a small amount of food. Sometimes I eat the rest it in the morning, sometimes I don't and dispose of it instead. It just depends. I like it that way and my ancestors did not complain either. I use a very small dish and give a small amount of food. Works well. 😋🍲 I also want to get some LED tea lights, since I want to light candles regularly for my deities and ancestors... But I am concerned about fire safety (I have kids) and don't want to have the smoke in my home every single day. Working with sigils instead to activate the 'fake' candle. That's what I want to do. 🕯️🙂 I prefer the real candles for spell work. 🙃
Thank you for this video. I've started offering a slice of freshly baked bread every other loaf (since I bake almost daily right now) and this video helped me feel more secure/stable/knowledgeable in that practice.
Thank you so much for this video! I’ve always been kind of lost on what to do after giving the offerings, everyone always seemed to give different answers, though now I recognize that it really depends~ thank you again 💖
Ooh, whisky as an offering, I'd appreciate that a lot if I were a deity! 😁 But for real, this is a very good video and with a perfect timing, like all of your vids 👍 Also, I sacrifice my time at work to a deity that's connected with it 😉 May I ask if you work with Hekate and if yes, would you make a video about that? I just noticed your book collection and I'd love a video about them too! 😁
I found you channel a video ago, and I like it! Your explanations are simple, but passionately and easy to understand. I practice witchcraft for a year ago and is a little dificult when comes to deities, because I don't give them time and usually they went, but looking at this I can tell that time, and little offering will be more appreciated than bigger rituals ( like I tend to do)
A practice I have gotten into in the past few years is offering exercise to my diety. He appreciates taking care of oneself, and caring for the body fits well.
Hey, just a tip, as someone who also work with a mother-nature entity (mostly kali but also gaia) a great way to a simple and inexpensive offering that is mostly well recieved is to take the time to take trash out of nature, helping to care for our planet is great when the entity you work with actually embodies earth!
Hi! This was some great timing on your part... 😅 I've been getting signs...the last one being a quite vivid dream that Sekhmet might want to work with me. I've been doing reaserch all day and I was just thinking about how I would make offerings to her. If anybody works with Sekhmet or has any tips on where I could find useful info I'd be grateful if you shared. ❤️
is it bad that I don't have a practice, I kinda just follow my intuition and meditate on feelings whenever I'm not fully comfortable with doing something a certain way and take it from there

I really like the idea of inviting them to share. It just sounds so sweet.

Hey Nike, thank you so much for this video! I am just starting to research deity work and this video is very valuable :)

I found this right on time...love synchronicity! Thank you...very good info and discourse!!
Thank you so much, Nike, this was so helpful. In my workings with Athena I sometimes dedicate my crocheting/knitting to her.
I'm catching up on videos bc I've been super busy and haven't had time but omg? I love your outfit???

Music is such a great idea for an offering!
I sometimes sing a hymn to my ancestors, as I know a few were very Christian and my families on all sides were very religious.
SUCH PERFECT TIMING
THANK

Thanks so much Nike :) I've really been needing this cause Gaia has been reaching out for a while and I had no idea what I was doing

Sounds like a practice to me. As long as it works for you, it's fine.
Could making art in honour of something be considered an offering?
Absolutely!
