Amen sister... nothing provides as much protection for us & our family as all the promises that are contained in Psalm 91 ❤️ The Lord impressed upon my heart to personalize it & then write out the whole chapter...for such a time we are in. I am purposefully memorizing it! Such wisdom you've been given sister and I bless you for sharing it with us!
On the elderberry syrup,I water bath can it for 10 minutes. Makes it shelf stable. My granddaughter wanted some for college. I have also heard of people freezing in ice cubes for later use.
I thought of canning the elderberry syrup but wouldn't the heat destroy the medicinal benefits of it? Especially the raw honey? I would love some feed back on this thought:)
I love this video, Kelsey! Could you be willing to do a series on the home remedies that you have used and find successful? ❤ That would be such a treat!
How I wish I had known all this when I was your age and had young children…..I’m 75 and using so much of this for my husband and me……Thank you for all your work and expertise!!!!!!❤❤❤
My daughter also does tinctures & she just gave me some Mullein to try. I have COPD and will get a great deal of phlegm at times. I’ve only used mullein few times but so far so good😊
Growing up in the 70/80s, my parents used to make those "hot toddies". I think its usually hot water with whiskey, fresh lemon juice and honey. They said it worked for them... Never tried it though. I made my first batch of elderberry tincture and i take it regularly before i get really sick with a cold or something. Ive actually chased my family around trying to give it to them😂
For my extracts and tinctures, I use a coffee filter to filter out any powders I use (or at least reduce the amount) after I've passed the extract through a sieve or muslin. Might be an option for when you've not got any whole herbs, just powdered.
We do garlic, ginger, tumeric, cayenne, lemon and honey all freshly chopped and add it to rooibos tea (Aspalathus linearis) every time we start to feel flu-ish not sure if you have the tea but I suppose you could drink it with any tea. Your onion and honey we do onion and brown sugar, it forms a kind of syrup very good for a cough, need to try it with the honey, but our winter is almost done now. I have started seedlings of many "odd and old fashioned herbs" just for their medical purposes, hopefully they will grow well 🤞 alot of these herbs have nice flowers when they bloom so the plan is to add them to my "cottage" gardren
how ironic that with breathtaking fall foliage and crisp mornings comes cold and flu season. praying that you and your family can catch a break this year!😮💨💜
This video was such an inspiration. I’ve been researching fire cider and loved all your book recommendations. Definitely want to do more of this. Thank you for sharing!
Maybe you could soak the handle knife in vinegar. I know that vinegar will take the rust off of rusty tools. Maybe vinegar will work on the knife handle. Just an idea.
Yessss natural medicine. A good balance is modern and natural medicine for my family’s health. I keep telling myself to make elderberry syrup before school starts and I keep forgetting until one of them comes home with a cold, lol. 😅
Yes the weather has been beautiful. I have been more intentional on my family’s health through food consumption and wanting to learn more about natural medicinal health. I have been trying it out on myself first and I am feeling so much better. My husband was recently diagnosed with some health problems and is seeking medical help but I want to to make sure he is getting the help at home as well.

@nikkireigns nope. There is no license to become an herbalist. You could take a class if you wanted but there is no degree for it. ❤️ Just do it! It's just knowledge that I grew up learning and am very passionate about..
Here in eastern Washington state I am just getting my push of green tomatoes ready to turn their color and I still have another month until first fall frost, so can’t wait to make some tinctures😊
I use turmeric all the time so all my cutting boards are stained! Bleach or a scrubbing powder might make your knife white again☺ No guarantee. Aloha from Kauai
I used to get yearly chest infections. One year I had completed two rounds of Pharmacy bought antibiotics and the infection would not go away so I decided to try active Manuka Honey with crushed garlic seeped in it and took small tsp of it with water. My infection disappeared almost immediately. I now just use that.
Happy Friday Kelsey! We too have been enjoying cooler mornings and evenings which like you, creates a longing in me for cozy blankets and hot tea. When preparing for bed last night I realized that our back door had been closed all day (except for going in and out of it) which was the first time this summer. The shift to fall seems to be coming more quickly than normal. I’m ready for it in my heart, but not necessarily in the garden. I have some herbal remedy recipe books on the way. I believe one arrives today and the other soon after. Your timing with this video is perfect for getting me ready for planning out those projects. I hope you and the family have a wonderful weekend. 🤗 May the Lord bless you, and keep you, and make his face to shine upon you.
Great video!! Make a paste of baking soda to remove the yellowing on the knife. You can also try bar keeper's friend, or wrap a napkin soaked with bleach on the handle for at least 20 minutes. These things have helped me a lot with turmeric stains and the like. Hope it works for you!
I appreciate the honesty about the kids and fire cider, mine won’t take it either and I’ve always wondered if others are using a more palatable formula/recipe
Thank you for these recipes. I do a mix of fresh ginger, turmeric, lemons, hibiscus flower and honey. I put in the fridge and every time my kids or I feeling like we’re coming down with something we take a couple of spoons twice a day for a few days and it tastes so good.
Can I ask, what is a use for the elderberries and herbs you strain off? Seems too good to throw away. Beautiful video, thank you for sharing your knowledge. ❤❤❤
I need to start a few medicinals in a couple of days. Should have started mid summer but the garden took priority. Now that it's finished I can do medicinals after butchering is finished today. Work never ends.
Great ideas!! I use some of them and will add some more of your ideas to my list! Thank you!! Don't forget to burp the garlic honey everyday. And shake it up so the honey coats the garlic everyday, I love making my fermented garlic honey.
Hi, great video, I will make the fire cider. I have been growing and harvesting elderberries for years. I cook the berries then strain off the juice and freeze it. Then all year round when I cook frozen fruit I add some of the elderberry juice. Which usually is once a week. If I feel like I am coming down with anything I will take it a tablespoon at a time. It strengthens the immune system.
I use a glass weight to keep my garlic infused with garlic under the honey. I also use a lid that releases the gases. My last jar is from last year and so yummy. Where do you get turmeric root and horseradish root?
Thank you for sharing your wonderful recipes! I was intrigued about the immune system course you mentioned and wonder if you have any thoughts on childhood vaccines and if they alter the way our immune system works? I understand this can be a difficult topic for new parents and am curious about your thoughts.
I've also seen Fire Cider dosed as an equal part cider with equal part honey at the time of taking, which would make it much sweeter but still a bit "burny" going down. 😁
Hi, I'm new to your channel. And I know you posted about a month ago, but I noticed that you were asking how to get the turmeric off of your knife handle. Lemon juice will help get the stain off of your knife handle and off of your fingers 😊 Thank you so much for your videos ❤
Hi Kelsey, So glad you posted this today. I cleaned out my cabinet of medicinal herbs because I really don't get into tea. I don't want to throw out what I have, would you like me to send to you? Everything I have I sourced from either Mountain Rose Herbs or Starwest Botanicals.

I can’t go into the science of it but your intellect enough to research, I learned this information from bee keeping friends. Keep making videos they are wonderful ❤
I’m making the garlic/turmeric/ginger infusion tomorrow. How long do you let yours stay in the fridge? I’ve seen people say a couple months up to six months. Thank you for the great video!
As for common colds: when left untreated the average cold lasts about one week. When using homebrew treatments, the duration usually changes to roughly 6-8 days.
@@erickaadmin9624 You just add a little bit of water to the fresh ones, so they don’t scorch on the bottom, then go from there. Most people don’t have access to fresh ones.
Hi Kelsey. Thank you for the recepies. My fermented honey-garlic will be ready in about a week. Last time I made fire cider, after the veg was strained out, I dehydrated and powdered them and made Fire Spice 😀
Love your idea, Katherine. Getting the most out of a good thing is always a good thing. : ) I will do the same.
Awesome idea!
I love this idea!
After it turns into powder, whats the ratio to use, to add it in water to activate it?
NICE! Thanks for the suggestion!
Any time you have turmeric, you should add pepper. It works synergistically with the turmeric.
Can you use ground turmeric in this?
Agreed, the pepper makes the turmeric work better.
