Who would you like to see again in Dragon Age 4? Let me know your full reasoning for their return! Also, big thanks to Ridge for sending me this wallet and supporting the channel! Here’s the site if you want to check them out! > ridge.com/jackdaw
Jackdaw, thank you for your tireless work bringing us dragon age content in these dry times. I just finished working in my garden for a few hours and didn't know the time was right for another Jackdaw video, but as I sat down at my computer and started listening, I discovered it truly was. :) Oh, and FYI. You missed the timestamp for Flemeth. How dare you? :)
I made my opinion on this on Twitter but to add to that list I would also like to see the Companions from Awakening return(whether or not it makes sense)
Honorable mentions 1) Shale - she did travel to Tewinter to find out if her transformation into a golem can be reversed. 2) Feynriel - he went to Tewinter to learn how to control his ability as a Dreamer. 3) Tallis - she has acted against Venatori agents before and I caught a small whiff of dissatisfaction with the rigidity of the Qun. It’d be interesting to bring her back and see whose side she ends up on. 4) Skywatcher - his clan leader was already sent to Tewinter to harass them. It’s only logical that he decided to bring all his experience to aid him, 5) Oghren - we’ve always had at least one Grey Warden companion and we haven’t heard of Oghren for two whole games. Time he made a comeback!!
I agree with all of this except Oghren. He was _extremely_ creepy to the female companions and, IMO, a complete waste of an interesting backstory. (I would _maybe_ be okay with him coming back briefly if I could _finally_ murder-knife him permanently, without him ever coming back like he does in Awakening...) Hell, my personal opinions aside, BioWare probably knows that he'd be likely to turn new fans off of the game. He aged very, very badly -- hell, he was already pretty bad when the game came out.
@Elijah H yeah lol when writing him bioware thought he'd be fan favorite out of the da:o squad, that's why they also put him in awakening but oh boy, were they wrong. i really don't want this stereotypical dwarf drunkyard back, maybe an elven drunkyard would be funnier, just come up with an interesting and original companion and no more tropey cliché characters pls bioware i beg
Oghren probably died shortly after Awakening, in one of the dialogues with him after the Joining he says he's been having dreams about the darkspawn where they ask him where the baby is (My HoF was always the one that survives after doing the ritual with Morrigan, so maybe the darkspawn are after Kieran, which would make sense given that he has Urthemiel's soul inside him), to me that means he doesn't have much time as a Warden since he can already understand what the darkspawn are saying (Remember that in Origins Alistair says this is how a Warden knows his time is coming). Of course, I may be seeing things that aren't there and that was just a nightmare and he's still alive, but I prefer that theory. Ps: Sorry for any mistakes, I had to translate this by google.
I want my mabari hound back in dragon age 4. He was a loyal fierce companion and provided comic relief even in the most serious of situations. The dead animal in Morrigan's underwear or bringing the hero of ferelden some pantaloons were hilarious
I think it would be cool to see someone from Origins that hasn’t really been in the fray for a while. I don’t want numerous callbacks, but would love a nod or two for us long time fans.
Agreed, I want to see Sigrun and Velana again speacially Sigrun, really these two deserve more love. And obviosly never forgett Shale, need more of her
I’d like to see Sten as Arishok (as I think he becomes arishok post da2) and see how he potentially interacts with the iron bull (specifically if he turns tal vashoth)
Considering that we will probably see Antiva in DA4, we could see Josephine again. She will always survive the plot of Inquisition and she could help new protagonist in Antiva on behalf of the Inquisitor just like Dorian in Tevinter. She has a lot of political ties and could become an important person in her country. She's also a proud patriot and wouldn't stand for Qunari to invade Antiva.
Ironically despite tevinters reach antiva and nevarra (Cassandra's place of origin the one with the necromancers being regular jo blo mage job of choice) would be first to fall.
I'd bet money on Feynriel appearing. He's got a unique magical gift (Dreamer), he's spent some time living in Tevinter and he's got that connection to Hawke. Throw him being half Elven and I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up being a love interest
I'd love to see Sandal and Dagna work together for the new main character. They both originally appeared in origins and have popped up since always missing each other in their travels through the games. Sandal's raw talent mixed with Dagna's ingenuity would be insane. Plus I'd love to see what the results of Inquisitions deep roads dlc may have effected sandal in some way.
I would love to see the return of Zevran, if alive. I mean, we are likely going to visit Antiva, it would be nice to see the person who was our first in-depth introduction to the country in the series. Also, to make up for him being hardly there in Inquisition.
@@v3nusf1ytrapp Honestly I think it's pretty likely we'll see Sten in the next game, depending on when it's set. He's the canon Arishok and Tevinter Nights had a pretty big focus on the Qunari/Tevinter conflict, so if it's not too big of a time jump, it's possible he'll show up! You're definitely right about Wynne though, I can't imagine her being in it but you never know
The problem is that the hero of ferelden is such a giant variable you can't give them a big role. I do believe Inquisition should have eliminated a couple of variables such as stroud/Alistair/loghain. Don't get me wrong, i love the idea of shaping the world but it becomes impossible to intertwine all choices made in the game.
@@toniyakovlev4403 I agree. Besides the hof doesn't have an official voice. How would they be able to take part in the story without being out of place
@@nikolasferreira3247 but it would ruin the pattern of having a new protagonist each time. Also ppl are into voiced protagonist now, ppl don't like the older school way of games now
@@v3nusf1ytrapp on contrary, alot of people want silent protagonists in rpgs since voiced protagonists don't work with roleplay and limit the amout of interactions they player can have with the world. Inquisition left alot of people mixed with the voiced protagonist since it didn't fell like the characters they wanted to be. The only way to hof come back is by beign the main characters again(which is what alot of fans of origins want)
Fenris is the character that I mainly want to see return, for the same reasons you listed. Between him and Dorian, that's a great deal of knowledge about Tevinter at all social levels and Dorian may not be able to join as a companion because of his new status. Also, in my headcanon the Inquisitor meets him after Solas disappears and they begin a relationship, so naturally I want him to return. Considering Fenris isn't guaranteed to still be a party member at the end of DA2, I could see a similar situation to whether Alistair/Stroud/Logain reappear, where whoever comes back is dependent on who Hawke romanced. Sandal if nobody was romanced. I'd also love to know Merrill's perspective and thoughts about the working eluvians!
Speaking of Fenris, aside from being the perfect broody boyfriend, we have to hope he didn't fall under Solas' implied "elf summoning spell". Otherwise, he may actually be an antagonistic force. All elves have this possibility. I want to see Hawke again. You often mention that certain characters would be good guides for Tevinter society, but what if our new PC is Tevinter born and raised?
This might be a little controversial, since I heard that he's not very popular and even down right hated by Dragon Age fans, but I kinda wnat to see Ohgren from origins make a comeback. I believe that he's a much better written character than people realize, but the moments to see that were just too few. Maybe he'd could be a more matured and responsible version of himself, maybe even act like a bit of a mentor for warrior classes, no longer the immature drumkard from the first game. (Spoilers for Origins and Awakening.) When you take Ohgren to the temple of sacred ashes and start the gaurdians trials, he openly admits that he regrets not having been a better husband to Branka and according to what he says, he blames himself for her going insane and killing off their entire clan. In Awakening he got married to Felsi and has a child with her, but joins the Grey Wardens to get away from his responsibilities. Now I get it, being a deadbeat dad is awful, but it's fairly realistic choice for him to make, since Ohgren is clearly an addict with almost no self control. Those who played origins know how awful and toxic the culture in Orzammar is, Ohgren was part of the warrior caste, it's not unreasonable to believe that he was raised his whole life to believe that real men don't show emotion or talk about their feelings. He's also a berserker, a warrior class that literally teaches them to bottle up their rage and anger until faced with an enemy, I truly believe his drinking and cheating was a coping mechanism to mask how truly sad and unhappy he was with his life, he's no doubt lost plenty of comrades he considered friends to the darkspawn by that point, but he just didn't know how to deal with that loss. Sorry, this got way longer than I intended, but I hope this makes fans look back at Ohgren with a bit more sympathy.
I agree, I absolutely love Oghren, he’s fairly well written and hilarious but idk if he’d be too well received nowadays, which is probably why we haven’t seen him in anything since Awakening. In fact I’m so certain he won’t return I headcanon in my canon world state that he died defending Vigils Keep. Still tho, if they ever do consider bringing him back for Dreadwolf I’d be happy with that.
I'd love for Iron Bull to return, to this day he's always apart of my party. He has this fun uncle vibe about him and cares deeply for his friends and comrades, he may be rough around the edges but that just comes with the territory.
I feel like he’ll come back depending on your choices as inquisitor. Only because, if he doesnt die in trespasser, he continues his relationship with Dorian. Even if we dont get the bull as a party member i’d like to see how his relationship with Dorian progressed.. and i’d like to see Krem again lol
Morrigan needs to appear again in the game. She drank from Mythals well and her story will be tied to Mythal and Solas. Either she will be the new vessel of Mythal if Flemeth is dead or maybe Solas will control her. She will be there for sure.
I think Dreadwolf would honestly be a good chance to bring everyone back, at least in terms of old party members, but done so contextually, and how and if/when you meet them is based on your origins. Like, say for example you play as a Human, and you can then choose if you're Fereldan, Orlesian or a Marcher. Each background you start in a different city in that region. So let's say you pick a Human Marcher, and you start in Kirkwall, where you can meet up with Aveline, Bethany/Carver and Varric, as Aveline's still Guard Captain, Varric is the new Viscount and Bethany/Carver (depending on your choices) are in the Circle or the Order respectively, assuming the Blight surviver doesn't accompany you on the Deep Roads Expedition. Or, you could start as a Fereldan in Redcliffe as a Knight in the army, and you're squadron is briefed on something by Alistair who (again, depending on your choices) is still King of Fereldan. Alternatively, you could start as a Dalish Elf who comes across Merril as your clan travels around, crossing paths with her and the elves she's been helping since the Chantry Explosion. Or maybe you're a Qunari, starting for the first time in Northern Thedas outside Minrathous, as a Tal-Vashoth mercenary and you and you're company run into Fenris, leading to you helping him liberate slaves from a magister in the city, which then leads you to a confrontation with Dorian, whom Fenris is hesitant to trust, given Dorian's now taken his father's place in the Magesterium. Either way, I hope we see a vast majority of our old allies during Dreadwolf, as cameos like Hawke was in Inquisition, as potential advisors, or even to accompany us on our journey to put a stop to Solas' plans of tearing down the veil. Part of me thinks this will be the last Dragon Age in terms of the storyline we've been following since Origins, so while this probably won't be our last trip to Thedas, I'd imagine that after stopping Solas, this story will end. Having everyone come back from across the 3 games as allies, party members, or even as enemies (looking at potentially Merril here, given her desire to restore the elves lines up quite nicely with Solas' ideals) would be an amazing send off for a story 13+ years in the making. Would it be a massive task for the devs, to try and fit in every main character we've encountered into the game? Absolutely. But as tall a task it might be, I don't think it's impossible. The Inquisitor did say, after all, that 'we'll find people he doesn't know'. While that doesn't necessarily mean people from our past, that doesn't say we won't see them again, either.
You know I'd love to see Sten return too, but I think it's pretty unlikely he'd have any major role in the main quest because he's one of the more likely companions to die or be ignored in Origins. Based on what I've seen of the fandom, there's quite a lot of people who thought the murder was too much to move past and either let him die or just released him and told him to leave. Also, even if you did accept him into the Party, his opinion on everyone beyond the Qun is hugely influenced by whatever relationship the Warden had with him. It's possible Bioware could emulate Mass Effect 3 and have there be significant deviations in the main quest based on choices in prior games, but based on how little connection Inquisition had to Origins and 2 I doubt that will happen.
Actually it's not that unlikely, Sten became the next Arishok and qunari are probably going to play some part in the next game so it's possible we'll see him.
I'd be interested in seeing Velanna or Merril how would they feel about Solas and Mythal. Zevran and his conclusion with Antivan crows. Feynriel. Maraas from DA2 Sandal.
I want Dog! The character design for the Marbari looked sick by inquisition. Or they should let you have a specialisation where you can summon dog as a pet/follower.
Leaving the Hero, Champion, and Inquisitor aside, my list is as follows: 1. Francesca - Romance option preferable. 2. Amethyne - Orphaned after Iona died in Highever castle, her neighbors sold into slavery, she travels to Tevinter to rescue her people and make the Vints pay. 3. Vaea - Romance option if possible. Also, Vaea did not kill that Magister. She stunned him with mortal wounds that he would have died from except Marius killed him instantly. 4. Bethany - A long shot, but if alive she should be useful to the plot, especially if a Grey Warden. 5. Merrill - Relevant to the plot, especially if romanced, and if she preserved her mirror. 6. Sten-Arishok - Highly relevant to the Qunari plotline. 7. Meredith - Could appear as a soul trapped within the red lyrium, since she had direct contact with the idol when she died. Also, did nothing wrong. 8. Fenris - Just makes sense to see him in Tevinter, especially if Francesca and Vaea appear. 9. Seranni - We need a conclusion to the Architect's storyline as well as Velanna's, and I think Seranni could wrap up both. 10. Justice - After Anders dies, Justice should return to the Fade as his true self, and we should be able to talk to him. I think he would feel guilt over all that happened after Kirkwall. I'd also like to see what happens with Drunk Alistair, Arianne, and Cole.
i think having a bethany or carver be a member depending on your hawke would be interesting also Meredith is already back she'd the "Red knight" or somethign she's become a monstorous red lyrium rock monster with intelligence
the actor who voiced Cullen had a falling out with one of the leads for DA, so is likely to not return. that said, the bosses in charge are also out, so...but still, Cullen is likely not in for the next game lineup, at least not a main teammate
I just wanna see every companion from Origins, in my original playthrough they're all supposed to be alive (maybe one of them died in the books or something, in that case then most of the crew). As a side note I wouldn't be mad if the person sacrificed to the fade in Inquisition either comes back physically or as a spirit.
For me it’s Shale, aside from Dorian of course :) she said she was going to Tevinter to try and become a dwarf again, I always liked her character and it’d be cool to see if she succeeded or even help her to do so
I hadn't considered how strongly Merrill might be drawn to Fen'harel and his plans, but given her obsession with restoring the elven past...it definitely works. Great video--although I skipped the characters I'm not familiar with to avoid spoiling too much. I still need to read most of the novels and several of the comics, not to mention play The Descent DLC!
Imagine if Fenris could make a lyrium ghost wolf like avatar to fight against the Dread Wolf’s Chosen. The idea itself is so badass. Kinda like how Morrigan helped the Inquisitor in her Dragon form given by Mythal.
I could see Merrill start out as an antagonist, trying to convince herself that she only cares about the ancient elves and their legacy, but through certain actions the player and their companions can take, they could end up showing her that the idealized view she has of her people as they once were, might not be the ideal she wanna work towards, and then join you after a struggle, having finally realized that her friends and family is worth more than her own false ideas about who her people were... I think this way, because she views her people in kinda the same way Liara viewed the Protheans in Mass Effect, but when she finally had to confront her own misconceptions about them, pretty much breaking down her entire life and world view, it helped her grow in a way i think would be very fitting for Merrill!
I suspect Sten to be an enemy in the next game actually. He was never a real ally to begin with. Yes, he helped the warden to defeat the blight, but he made it clear, that he only does that, because the blight threatens all of Thedas, not only Ferelden. Plus, he mentioned several times, that the Qunari will invade all of Thedas at one point and he is extremely loyal to the Qun. When it comes to Flemeth/Mythal and Merrill, I have the theory, that Flemeth actually send a piece of her essence not to Morrigan, but to Merrill through the Eluvian. Morrigan might not be willing to let Mythals soul inside her body (as a soul is never forced upon the unwilling), but Merrill definitely would be, making her the next host for Mythal.
Fenris, Merril and Sten all can die depending on the player's choices so it's unlikely that they will be given extremely complex plotlines, even more so because the character they first adventured with can also be dead. With that said, I do believe they will make cameos and influence certain plots much like how many companions in Mass Effect can alter the story wheter they lived or died in a previous installment. Sten will certainly play a role in the Qunari plot in the same way Wrex gives a totally different narrative than Wreav, only if he is alive you'll be able to reach some sort of peace with the Qunari. Fenris will certainly play a role when dealing with slavery in Tevinter and it will certainly depend wether Hawke aided him, killed him, romanced him or sold him out. If Hawke romanced him then he will certainly have a different fate depending on wether Hawke lived or died in Inquisition. Merril will only reapper if Hawke romanced her and survived, given how out of proportions the whole Eluvian plot grew in relation to her own mirror the only other role she can fill beside appearing as Hawke's spouse is a cut away gag when the new protagonist innevitably goes through a wacky chase through the Eluvian network.
The logic behind whether or not they can be killed is not there, look at Alistair, Leliana, Flemeth. Just to name a few. Either they'll have a plot centric way of returning or they'll simply be replaced with a different character like you said with mass effect
Sigrun: Castless, Legion of the Dead. We need someone with a dwarfen perspective. And there are too many high and mighty in that list. Too much about elves and mages. We need more of the dirt, blood and darkness of the Deep Roads.
If Sten does come back, he's absolutely going to be as an antagonist. Iron Bull only remains loyal to the Inquisitor if he turns Tal Vashoth, something Sten would likely never do, as he is far more devoted to the Qun than Bull was. This comes with their respective roles: Sten was a member of the Antaam, so he's a soldier. His role is clearly defined and offers no room for interpretation. Bull was a member of the Ben Hassarath, basically secret police and even admits he was a bit of an exception. Living a dual life as Iron Bull means there's opportunity for him to embrace his new life and reject the old one (which he does if the Inquisitor sides with the Chargers over the Qunari). If there's one universal rule about Qunari, it's this: You can only ever trust them if their goals align with yours. The moment they diverge, all bets are off. Sten even explains such when the treaty of Llomerryn is brought up with Alistair: Alistair: So I suppose once I'm actually king I could end up in negotiations with the Qunari one day. Sten: My people do not negotiate. Alistair: What do you mean? They negotiated a peace treaty after the war, and as far as I know they've kept to its terms. Sten: They signed a piece of paper. But only because they knew that you believed in it. Alistair: And what is the difference between that and negotiating? Sten: They stopped fighting for their own reasons. And they will resume it again, one day. The agreement means nothing to them. Alistair: But I thought you said your people believed in honor. Sten: They do. The honor of the Qunari is what will bring our warships back to your shores. And, in Qunari society, a Tamasseran's word is law. That is why they disavowed the previous Arishok's actions in Kirkwall, but did not do the same with Viddasala. Because the Arishok moved on his own initiative, but Viddasala was there under their orders. As such, not only will Sten lead the armies in their invasion, he is bound to, he has no choice in the matter.
For me, I agree with Merrill, Isabella, and Fenris. I'd also like to see Leliana and Morrigan. Those two were always great. Oghren would be another great one. Seeing him interacting with someone like Iron Bull, Sera, or Varric would be awesome. I'd also like to see Cole, Cassandra, and Shale. Seeing Cole and Shale interact just has limitless potential for hilarity. Throw the likes of Alistair in there and the jokes write themselves. Another interaction that I'd love to see is Fenris, Iron Bull, and Dorian.
I agree, I understand because Anders can be canonically dead for some it would be difficult but I’m sure they could have justice has a stand in if necessary. My main reason for wanting an anders cameo is solas plan to tear down the veil could have very interesting affects on someone that’s possessed like him. Also Dorian is a must, it’s in tevinter and our boy is a magister trying to reform tevinter. If he’s not in then BioWare is losing their mind and missing perfect opportunities.
Honestly, not so much game character returns, but I'd love to see more original characters with classes that weren't touched up upon. The characters from DA "The Calling" were very unique. Kell was a Grey Warden and Avaar warrior who was trained as a hunter and "Ash Warrior" he fought along side his hound Hafter. This could really bring back having a hound for the fans that want it but could also bring new unique gameplay combat. Utha was a Dwarven "Silent Sister", she fought with her fists and bare hands. (PLEASE THAT'S JUST BADASS I WANT A BRAWL CLASS!!! 😩) though....okay characters I want to return though. Nathaniel Howe....for the romance I didn't get to have 🥲 Dagna, because I love her. Also Tempest class. And Sutherland and his band!
I'm starting to believe that Sandal mau have been around during the first blight. I just can't shake that shit. Fenris, Isabela, Dorian, Bethany/Hawke and Heroes of Ferelden.
I pretty much agree with you on all of these characters. I can totally see Merrill joining up with Solas, with the idea of ''restoring what was lost''. Though I wonder how she'd react if she found out what the price really is, and how far she'd be willing to go. I still am in the camp of ''Flemythal will turn out to be the big bad in the end'' and I think it's likely we'll see Morrigan again as well. Not only because of her connection to Flemeth (and especially to Mythal if she drank from the Well.) but also because she's been so iconic to the series. While dissapearing is not out of character for her, I feel like her story isn't quite finished yet. And Felassan... I have a lot to say about Felassan (': Felassan I think is an interesting situation. As you mentioned in the video, according to the rules, Felassan should be dead. And I very much think this was Solas's intention. If I remember correctly, Solas thinks death is a kinder fate than tranquility, and since they were friends, I don't think Solas would purposely make his friend tranquil. So I have a feeling if the writers decide to bring him back as a tranquil, he'd be tranquil because of a reason other than ''Solas killed him in the Fade'' Or, Solas meant to actually kill him and he thinks he did, but failed to do so because he was still too weak. Then again, you'd think Solas would realise that. ...Or maybe he was too upset to think straight, I don't know. xD It's fun to speculate though. I'd love for Felassan to return, we've seen so little of him but I loved his personality in the book, and it was strongly hinted at that he's an ancient Elf, so that makes him even more interesting. I also think him being in DA4 as a Tranquil would work nicely with the whole plot for a cure for tranquility. We meet him as tranquil, he helps us with Solas and we help him look for the cure for tranquility. Maybe that would be a bit too obvious of a plot point but eh, a girl can dream. xD
I would love to see Shale. I hope that in DA4 dwarfs will be more connected to the story and we will get to explore Kal-Sharok. There is a lot of room to get creative with Kal-Sharok since it was cut off from Orzammar for some time and both Shale and Valta may have a lot to do here. I would also like to see Michel de Chevin. he was well written character and it was a shame that he only got one minor side quest in inquisition. After his experience it would make sense to go on a quest to a land full of blood magic and demons. I know that depending on your choices in inquisition he might be dead, but that was not a problem for Leliana and Anders. And I also think it would be nice if either Valya or Caronel made an appearance in DA4. We know there will be grey wardens, so I think gryphons and those who found them will play some part in the game.
@@andersfrieden567 Yeah, that's what I meant by "filling the same place", either by secretly working for the Dread Wolf and betraying you in some way (got to have a mage companion who turns on you at the end, it's tradition :P), or by starting off as working for Fen'Harel and switching sides later to help you. Former works better for Velanna, latter for Merill, imo, but also would be fine with either. I think having Velanna around would be very interesting, but if we have to choose, I just like Merill more :D
@@orsolyafekete7485 fair enough, Merill's character is a lot more fleshed out and complicated. Velanna is a bit straight forward in this regard, that's why working for Solas might fit her very well.
Thanks Jackdaw for your videos I was just thinking how cool it would be to see a new one and I got the notification (call it the power of manifestation haha). Greetings from Punta del Este (Uruguay) here we have a Dragon Age community that follows you, we are not many, but we are faithful followers of the saga and your content (many times as some do not know English I put your videos and act as a translator, so I have learned the Lore of the saga in depth thanks to you and I appreciate it very much). I apologize for my English in advance because it is not my native language and I am still studying it. But let's get to the commentary. Now going to the characters that I would like to see return on side quests, being companions or cameos. I have the following list: Characters I would like to see return in Dragon Age IV: Isabela I think it would be interesting to use her ship as a base of operations, Merrill and Velanna for all elven thematic to deal with (Merrill as a companion and Velanna as a second order antagonist a sort of Lieutenant in Solas forces and close the arc of her sister), Anders and Vivienne the former if left alive in DAII to see what has happened to him since he blew up the Chantry in Kirkwall and the latter as Head of the College of Enchanters to see how her mission to restore order in the magical community comes along (be can even have Wynne in the mix helping and discussing with Vivienne for how conduct the College) The Architect would be interesting as a sometime ally/enemy in the fight against Solas and the Red Lyrium mutated Darkspawn, Oghren to see his wanderings as a Grey Warden alongside Alisteir. Shale to find her in the Paths of the Deep fighting the Darkspawn and could give us some clue of the Hero of Ferelden (as an idea for the last game considering that they planned in its beginning Dragon Age as a pentalogy I always thought that the last game would be with the Keiran and that in this one we would see our Grey Warden from Origins again for a small playable section or cameo in his mission to stop The Calling and there would begin the final game which would be about the Last and Greatest Blight the Thedas has ever seen with the son of the Hero who started this whole saga of games and carrying on his shoulders the weight of the legacy of his father and the hopes that many have in him, for that very reason would be a plot in my opinion with much psychological component almost as a parallel to King Arthur who carried the weight of being a minimum of a King a warrior as respectable as his father was, but those are theories for the supposed last game and the subject of the video is another one so is time that I come back to it). But for me it would be great and it's a must that Hawk appears again since I still remember Flemeth's prophecy at the beginning of DAII already fulfilled a part of it in that game and in his confrontation against the Fear Demon (I left him fighting with it in the Veil even not wanting just for that piece of lore that the Witch of the Wilds threw at us on DAII).
I agree with all of your picks, although I'm not as familiar with the book characters (I've not gotten around to reading the books or comics, but have a good sense of them from the summaries you've made). Besides all of those characters, I'd add Zevran to the list. Especially since we know we'll be visiting Antiva and working with the Crows, how could we not run into Zevran? I think he'd make for a fun advisor, especially if he's still up to his roguish ways and is available to flirt with (depending on the worldstate, of course... if he was wooed by the Warden, he should remain staunchly loyal to them).
I kind of wish that you could unlock all the previous protags as party members during the game. My HoF and Hawke would emotionally adopt my Inquisitor and chew out Solas for breaking inky’s heart (yes I did romance him [for the lore]). Hawke basically adopted Merrill with Isabela in 2 and my Warden is all about found family
Easy, Sten. Former companion to the Hero of Ferelden and the new Arishok. With the Qunari invasion it would be a crime to exclude the man most famous for his savage remarks in Origins. In addition to that, it's about time that Bioware finally brought back the Hero of Ferelden for a bit. Arguably one of the most important characters in the lore and yet he/she has been remarkably absent. (Especially if the cure for the blight has indeed been found, which would be a significant event for the setting). Fully agree with Dorian and Fenris, but considering that Antiva got invaded as well, perhaps we will see Zevran for a second as well.
Depends on ur choices, if shes alive and not dead i could see her coming back but, if she died in origins shes a lyrium ghost in da2 til inquisition and disappears after the trespasser dlc afaik.
Personally i want Scout Harding and the Hawke Twin to return. Whether it's Carver or Bethany in my playthrough, i would love to see them back. Heck, if they are romancable i may even need to replay 2 as a warrior or rogue just for Bethany
Vivienne regardless of player choices will become Devine or grand enchanter of the circle. So I think she will return. I’d love to see a showdown between her and morrigan
I’m assuming they’ll be imported the same way hawke was if they do show up. In the dragons keep it has a specific choice to determine their specialization so if they do come back that might actually be important, kinda like how hawked temperament choice affected dialogue. But I agree, the inquisitor will defiantly not be our protag but they gotta be in the mix somehow. I had an elven enchanter and I wanna see the solas drama between them
Very interesting top! If Dragon Age 4 will take place not just in Tevinter, but also in Antiva - I really hope to see Josephine again. She could be an important person on the political scene thanks to her diplomacy skills. And romance with her was my favourite one in Dragon Age series.
Maybe someone can answer this but is Branka alive in canon? I always wondered what happened to her and inquisition dident give much of an answer, it could be really intressting to see her again either as an enemy or a "cracked paragon" seeking redemption...if she survived that is (i know its a longshot but still) :)
The next game is going to be in Tevinter so it would be a perfect opportunity to bring back Corypheus or the Architect or introduce one of the other Old Magisters.
I may be in the minority but I really want a good amount from DAI. Varric and Solas are confirmed but I'd really like to see Dorian since we are going to Tevinter, and maybe a small cameo or side quest with Iron Bull/Cassandra/Blackwall/Cole/ or Sera depending on our previous choices. Of the advisors the only one I could think of would be Leliana as she is with the Inquisition or Divine, and I wasn't a huge fan of Vivienne.
I wish they would introduce Dwarf Magic. Between Sandal, Dagna and the fact that Dwarves party members and characters have somehow ended up in the Fade
Some of these Characters I am not familiar with as I have only read two of the books so far but it would be awesome is those characters came to the next game for sure! Based on your descriptions of them Jackdaw, I would love to see them and interact with them in DA4. Fingers crossed! And every other character you mentioned I am totally on board with. Especially Fenris. My fave 😊
Not even a honorable mention to hero of feralden. In fact even though people would be mad that the qunari race is taken away he could be a possible main character while solas may have heard of him there is nothing that he know about him since he was missing when he woke only a few possible people would have known he went west to lands without blight even if someone else knew they more then likely counted him dead never coming back but he is with secrets which a info dump as a tutorial to know what your enemy truly is also would make a awesome we saw the orgins of this hero that now comes to save us all from real threat hell most of the world don't even believe feralden had a real blight because of how quick it was and it would have huge pay off possibilities even if ur warden dies its the one with dealings with the architect and even better who would be the best enemy a no ome solas would under estimate his name may mean pride but he is also wisdom or a warden the one thing that we absolutely know he hates know he disagree with know he wants gone there is lot of potential in story on the real reason he hate them even could lead to him getting other wardens in line
For me it's Dorian. If Tevinter plays a major role, I can't see him not involved. Which would also fulfill the tradition of every game having a returning companion from the previous. Oghren in DA:A, Anders in DA2, Varric in DAI, there's a pattern.
Thanks for the super cool video! Out of everyone in this video Im really hoping to see Fenris and Mae! Miss the grumpy boi and to have such a fabulous character as Mae come to life in a video game format would be exciting/amazing.
In Inquisition, it's known that the Hero of Ferelden was searching for a cure for the Calling. If we assume that DA4 takes place years after Solas revealed himself to be the Dread Wolf. The Hero should have found a cure (wishful thinking). Therefore, making wardens a big addition and possibly finding a Warden Bethany. Hell the Hero may as well be a companion too (seems unlikely)
I want the Hero, Hawke, and Inquisitor as my companions, especially if we import from last games, and if this ends up being the finale for the series (depending on sales)…just imagine having all 4 protagonists banter with each other!!!
By following the pattern Bioware have used for previous games, we will have one previous game's NPC become a companion (Scout Harding), one recurring companion (Varric), one former companion become an adviser (Dorian), and have the previous protagonist make some big plot point (Inquisitor). I also predict one of the protagonists from Absolution joining the party, and Cassandra and Leliana to be NPC's again. Oh and of course, high chances Meredith is a main antagonist.
Wouldn't it be cool if Fenris fought Solas? A duel of two Wolf themed Elves, that's something that could happen in Dragon Age Dreadwolf. And I would like to see all of the Dragon Age Comic Book Characters, and maybe the Dragon Age Absolution Characters (Mainly Miriam and her companions) make some sort of appearance in side quests or companion quests.
Honestly I don't want any previous companion to become playable companions. Because 1. They would block off potential new characters 2. I think making them unique npcs with individual quest or be an adviser is much more interesting since we saw them as companions before, like Leliana and Morrigan. 3. It gets more and more difficult to excuse these characters being level 1 again when they were killing dragons and godlike creatures in the previous game.
Since you already mentioned Vaea, I'll go an say I wish that Francesca Invidus appears, and as a companion. Her magic is so unique, and the character herself is so cool
@@Sycophantichallenger Fixed thanks for pointing that out :D
I made my opinion on this on Twitter but to add to that list I would also like to see the Companions from Awakening return(whether or not it makes sense)
I would love to have the possibilitie to play again as the hero of ferelden
Anders. Because his story deserves to continue.
Honorable mentions
1) Shale - she did travel to Tewinter to find out if her transformation into a golem can be reversed.
It’s only logical that he decided to bring all his experience to aid him,
5) Oghren - we’ve always had at least one Grey Warden companion and we haven’t heard of Oghren for two whole games. Time he made a comeback!!
I would love to see Oghren he is so funny how obscene he gets
I agree with all of this except Oghren. He was _extremely_ creepy to the female companions and, IMO, a complete waste of an interesting backstory. (I would _maybe_ be okay with him coming back briefly if I could _finally_ murder-knife him permanently, without him ever coming back like he does in Awakening...) Hell, my personal opinions aside, BioWare probably knows that he'd be likely to turn new fans off of the game. He aged very, very badly -- hell, he was already pretty bad when the game came out.
@@elijahh2220 it's what I found funny that he is a complete creep and because he is that drunk he doesn't care
Agreed, I once did a play though where I took Dog on every mission possible.

I think it would be cool to see someone from Origins that hasn’t really been in the fray for a while. I don’t want numerous callbacks, but would love a nod or two for us long time fans.
Agreed, I want to see Sigrun and Velana again speacially Sigrun, really these two deserve more love. And obviosly never forgett Shale, need more of her
i would like Sten!
@@greyc0544 enh you most likely wont see sigrun she kinda just dissapears in the deeproads after awakening
I’d like to see Sten as Arishok (as I think he becomes arishok post da2) and see how he potentially interacts with the iron bull (specifically if he turns tal vashoth)
Has to be shale.
I would love that. I would love to see her and Leliana return!
I'd bet money on Feynriel appearing. He's got a unique magical gift (Dreamer), he's spent some time living in Tevinter and he's got that connection to Hawke. Throw him being half Elven and I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up being a love interest
I had that same thought. He or Bethany would be great mage companions. It would be nice to see how they have grown in confidence and ability.
To make up for him being hardly in Inquisition?
Many other characters weren't even there.
Hardly there? Where does he show up in Inquisition?
@@Rhysdux the table missions
@@SeventhheavenDK okay? But the game is taking place in Antiva and Tevinter. It wouldn't make sense to run into Wynne or Sten there would it?
@@v3nusf1ytrapp Honestly I think it's pretty likely we'll see Sten in the next game, depending on when it's set. He's the canon Arishok and Tevinter Nights had a pretty big focus on the Qunari/Tevinter conflict, so if it's not too big of a time jump, it's possible he'll show up! You're definitely right about Wynne though, I can't imagine her being in it but you never know
For me only the Hero of Ferelden, they would be the only character that would really amaze and excite me to come back.
@@v3nusf1ytrapp by beign the protagonist of the game
(Spoilers for Origins and Awakening.)
When you take Ohgren to the temple of sacred ashes and start the gaurdians trials, he openly admits that he regrets not having been a better husband to Branka and according to what he says, he blames himself for her going insane and killing off their entire clan.
Nice. I agree. He's a good representation of a lot of men. Especially those of the previous generation.
Who said people hate ohgren I love that guy he's fun to be around
I'd love for Iron Bull to return, to this day he's always apart of my party. He has this fun uncle vibe about him and cares deeply for his friends and comrades, he may be rough around the edges but that just comes with the territory.
He probably won’t get much more than a cameo given he can die in trespasser
He’s dead in mine , good riddance
@@elibaker8849 damn
I feel like he’ll come back depending on your choices as inquisitor. Only because, if he doesnt die in trespasser, he continues his relationship with Dorian. Even if we dont get the bull as a party member i’d like to see how his relationship with Dorian progressed.. and i’d like to see Krem again lol
I want him and Sten to come back just so I can hear the dialogue between them lmmfao
Agreed, Fenris is a natural enforcer. He is one of my favorite DA characters. He has a lot to offer. Great video. Thank you.
I would love it if Shale returned! I'm surprised she's not on your list!
She was in an expansion... maybe he never met her. Sad if so.
Actually it's not that unlikely, Sten became the next Arishok and qunari are probably going to play some part in the next game so it's possible we'll see him.
he escapes the cage and becomes arishok regardless
I'd be interested in seeing Velanna or Merril how would they feel about Solas and Mythal.
Zevran and his conclusion with Antivan crows.
Feynriel.
Maraas from DA2
Sandal.
Enchantment?! Enchantment!
I really want Wynne to return as the Spirit of Faith, who has adopted her personality and memories like what happened with the Divine.
I want Dog! The character design for the Marbari looked sick by inquisition. Or they should let you have a specialisation where you can summon dog as a pet/follower.
Leaving the Hero, Champion, and Inquisitor aside, my list is as follows:
The Architect, rebel darkspawn splitting from the rest was an interesting story then was barely mentioned again.
I want to see Fenris with Hawke again. And Cullen with the Inquisitor.
the actor who voiced Cullen had a falling out with one of the leads for DA, so is likely to not return. that said, the bosses in charge are also out, so...but still, Cullen is likely not in for the next game lineup, at least not a main teammate
BioWare has said that Cullen’s story is done for the time being. If he does return they will definitely recast his voice actor.
I screamed “YES!!!!!!!!!!” when Sandal’s name popped up!!
I want to see Fenris and I think it could work quite well with DA4 being set in Tevinter and also I just selfishly want to see him in 4k
All good points Jack, absolutely agree for Maeveris, she will be a companion 100%. I would add Morrigan, Scout Harding, Shale and (maybe) Abelas.
I agree with Morrigan. Harding is practically a given because of how much people liked her. Abelas would be a very interesting character to meet again
@@anvime739 Abelas, Cullen, Fenris, Sten.
For me it’s Shale, aside from Dorian of course :) she said she was going to Tevinter to try and become a dwarf again, I always liked her character and it’d be cool to see if she succeeded or even help her to do so
I love it when Sandal says enchantment, sucks he wasn’t in dragon age inquisition, I was excited to see him in dragon age 2
I definitely would love to see Sandal in #4. Wish he was in Inquisition.
I would love that.
I know DAO’s Mage Grandma has probably passed on now but a nod to Wynne in DA4 would be nice… I always loved that woman
Yes she died in one of the books or comics I believe
Sten even explains such when the treaty of Llomerryn is brought up with Alistair:
Alistair: So I suppose once I'm actually king I could end up in negotiations with the Qunari one day.
Excellent characterization of Sten/Arishok, Iron Bull, and the Qunari as a whole.
Isabela for the return. She makes everything better.
I love Vaea so much. I hope she's a romance option for my Qunari I plan to play 🥰
Two characters that i would like to see in the next dragon age:Dorian,Anders
though....okay characters I want to return though. Nathaniel Howe....for the romance I didn't get to have 🥲
Dagna, because I love her.
I have a lot to say about Felassan (':
Felassan I think is an interesting situation.
Maybe that would be a bit too obvious of a plot point but eh, a girl can dream. xD
I hope Francesca invidus shows up cuz she’s a serious gardening bad ass
I’m truly hoping to see my Warden again. If Hawke and the Inquisitor wanted to join in as well, I wouldn’t complain.
Bethany Hawk, Velana and Nathaniel Howe would be cool.
I would love to have Velanna too! Although she would probably fill a place that Merill could fill, and if that's the case, I choose Merill.
@@orsolyafekete7485 could be either one of them. I wonder if Velanna or Merill would become the followers of Fen'Harrel.
@@orsolyafekete7485 . I would choose Velanna, she was way more interesting than brainless Merril.
I have the following list:
Characters I would like to see return in Dragon Age IV: Isabela I think it would be interesting to use her ship as a base of operations, Merrill and Velanna for all elven thematic to deal with (Merrill as a companion and Velanna as a second order antagonist a sort of Lieutenant in Solas forces and close the arc of her sister), Anders and Vivienne the former if left alive in DAII to see what has happened to him since he blew up the Chantry in Kirkwall and the latter as Head of the College of Enchanters to see how her mission to restore order in the magical community comes along (be can even have Wynne in the mix helping and discussing with Vivienne for how conduct the College) The Architect would be interesting as a sometime ally/enemy in the fight against Solas and the Red Lyrium mutated Darkspawn, Oghren to see his wanderings as a Grey Warden alongside Alisteir.
Jaja otro fan yorugua, la primera vez que veo un compatriota en estos canales.
Love the videos Jackdaw
my personal top 5 (companions) hopeful returns would be ogren, iron bull, varric, fenris, and isabella
I would love to see Vivienne again. The iron lady will come back^^
I dont know about sten, but Merril is such a good character i want to see her with my hawke
Also we have to see Leliana again, she has been in every installment so far and she absolutely has to come back!
I want to see shale in one form or anther back in her Dwarven body, perhaps chasing some pigeons with a mallet xD
My comprehensive ranking of characters I want to see again in DA4:
1. Scout Harding
2. Scout Harding
...
34. Scout Harding
I’d love to see Vaea in DA4, she had a small part in Tevinter Nights too so hopefully that means that they will include her in the game 🤞
I really wanna see Calpernia again. I don't think she's dead in any world states, so hopefully she'll be there in DA4.
Easy answer for #1, The Hero of Ferelden himself/herself (if alive). Whatever it takes. Wearing full helmet and just nodding would've been okay.
I hope if the Inquisitor comes back, you can choose their class and specialization, I love my Templar.
I had an elven enchanter and I wanna see the solas drama between them
Calling it now before I watch the video, number 1 is going to be Oghren.
he goes to the calling after awakening
Very interesting top! If Dragon Age 4 will take place not just in Tevinter, but also in Antiva - I really hope to see Josephine again. She could be an important person on the political scene thanks to her diplomacy skills. And romance with her was my favourite one in Dragon Age series.
Cullen, Inquisitor, Hawke, Merrill, Dorrian and of course Varric
Hooray!
Jackdaw is backdaw!
Yay just what my day needed!!
A jackdaw video!!
My fave 😊
Letssss goooo another upload
Not gonna lie I kinda want an Avengers moment with companions/characters across the series.
Your videos never fail to make me smile, every couple of months I go back and binge everything up until now, thanks for making amazing stuff 🥰
So glad you like them!
Miss the grumpy boi and to have such a fabulous character as Mae come to life in a video game format would be exciting/amazing.
i would love to see a pet mabari :) from other beings i would love Isabela ,Dorian,Vivienne and Josephine
Justice for Felassan 🥺
In Inquisition, it's known that the Hero of Ferelden was searching for a cure for the Calling. If we assume that DA4 takes place years after Solas revealed himself to be the Dread Wolf. The Hero should have found a cure (wishful thinking). Therefore, making wardens a big addition and possibly finding a Warden Bethany. Hell the Hero may as well be a companion too (seems unlikely)
And here I am hoping that zither goes on a tevinter music tour
My old mabari. Come here, boy!
Sounds like a fantastic list. I'd be even more excited if Patrick Weekes decided to come back.
I want the Hero, Hawke, and Inquisitor as my companions, especially if we import from last games, and if this ends up being the finale for the series (depending on sales)…just imagine having all 4 protagonists banter with each other!!!
I 100% think EA will ruin the next dragon age but fenris is my #1 to return.
Honestly if they make him a party member he'll definitely end up super popular with people who haven't read the books. Talking about Velisan btw
Because
1. They would block off potential new characters
2. I think making them unique npcs with individual quest or be an adviser is much more interesting since we saw them as companions before, like Leliana and Morrigan.
3. It gets more and more difficult to excuse these characters being level 1 again when they were killing dragons and godlike creatures in the previous game.
As long I I get Merrill to have a happy ending I will be happy
Since you already mentioned Vaea, I'll go an say I wish that Francesca Invidus appears, and as a companion. Her magic is so unique, and the character herself is so cool
Isabella is such a complete character, so much opportunity
Sandal MUST comeback
100% agree with your top 3 choices
