Unique sets are always worth some attention. As a Harman enjoyer I don't understand how people tend to stick to a target like it's the only "correct" tuning.
That’s definitely one hell of a frequency response. Having heard the whole review though, this almost feels like a classic planar headphone. Feels like a review of those OG Audeze and Hifiman which people praised to high heavens for the sense of space - probably because of the recessed ear gain and extended treble (and planar technicality)
@@En_Joshi-Godrezthat may be my memory being wrong. But even the newer Hifimans have a prominent scoop at the ear gain region. And I’ve just accepted that as a sound signature both Hifiman and Audeze went for many years ago
This is a wondrous IEM! Such a velvety veil too with all that airy soundstage. Purrfect for Metal and Jazz. It has changed my Metal game, totally. Love it. I know you have said slower songs, which is correct, but it's also great for rapid metal with its velvety sound, especially paired with FC6, and that airy huge circular soundstage. Best left-field pick i have made in this hobby. Once you get used to its soundscape, it gets very addictive. And paired with FC6, the bass is tighter and enough for me, and mids add a lovely layer to it. Overall, pretty chuffed with this addictive gem, and gets used the most along with Aful P8.
@@toplee6447 I would say yes. The price has dropped further I read somewhere. Best thing is it takes insane bass boost - eq or from a dac with that feature if you have. But yeah , I use without those tweaks as I have other iem for that. This is great for jazz/soul intimate. Airy treble, wide soundstage (more width than depth though) and that cosy sound. Not an all-rounder but it does take to EQ well if you want more low end. As @jayaudio says it's a pretty unique iem.

I currently own the 7hz legato. How much of an upgrade will I get by moving up to the nightingale, Blessing 3, Thieaudio Hype 2, and others in the 300-400$ price range. Note: I listen to the legato by EQing the subbass down cause I realized I am not a basshead.
Very little at first, then you get used to it and complacent. Once you go back to a cheaper set, then you'll notice how enormous the difference is. Reminds me of 8SS or EX800ST with better treble extension. I think such 'flat' tunings do have potential to be placed as a typical taste as commented by @PEANUTGALLERY81. One thing I wonder is if it responds well to EQing. If so, just for that it having actual treble extension, being a rather large diaphram driver, and having less wobblier treble than most planar we usually see (Timeless, S12 etc...), I feel like it could be a potential 'FR emulator' platform as well, especially with 5128 readings someday.
great review, specially that you go into detail regarding soundstage depth and layering. This is the most important to me. I like sitting in the last row in a stadium "seeing" the orchestra in the distance. Do you know an over ear open headphone under 1.500$ preferably a planar that does this? it should not have a subbass roll off, but doesnt need to have an emphasis. i dont llisten to vocals, so i dont like pushed upper mids as well as emphasized treble. Would much appreciate any suggestions to look at.
@@jayyaudiobro, I own both EA500LM and EA1000 and find the latter to be superior in areas of clarity and detail. Now I'm considering this Nightingale as an alternative to the already excellent EA1000 but EA500LM is recommended instead over Nightingale 😅
Looks like they were told "flat is neutral". Lmao

Jay what are the best sources for music and that are cheap and convenient?
Did you find that kiwiear melody work best with its stocktips?
Ya stock tips are fine, source wise I use the Topping G5 - I haven't tried any of the other ones, sorry!
Please compare the clarity and details with the Aful MagicOne which luckily you do have
Nightingale much better - might be too sharp tho depending on the unit (mine has less treble)
I love my sv023 and am awating for sivga to improve their IEM game
sv021 too
One last question about the melody , how does the melody perform against the S12 in terms (Tech,Tuning ,different music genres etc)
S12 sounds lighter, Melody has more bass impact, other than that similar tech
