    Thank you Andy for comparison with Meze. I had Meze 99 Classic and had to sell them after 2 monts of owning. They sounded awful at best. Muddy, with poor resolution, no top end, no sparkle. After i got Sivga Robin, it just made a world of difference in comparison. They are really great closed backs.

      @lord5619 To call the Meze 99 awful is an extreme comment. They might not be for you, but a lot of people really enjoy them, including me.

    Hopefully Sivga will give you the opportunity to review the Oriole. I intended to purchase the Robin and the Oriole dropped to $140. I couldn’t pass this sale up so I have been really enjoying my pair of the Orioles. This review now has me interested in the closed back Fostex you own so I am considering adding one to my collection for my back porch listening. Now that I’m retired, I am always on the lookout for good, and different, sound with budget audio equipment for my playlists. I enjoy and appreciate your reviews!

      Thanks! appreciate the support. Just remember that my T40 RP MK3 has been modded with BAL connection and much wider pads, which makes it so very refined from the stock trim. The best part is, SIVGA does seem to be quite adept at tuning, because my most used IEMs is the SIVGA Nightingale, so I am pretty sure the Oriole would be no different impressive

    I'm planning to order either SV021 for $155 or Oriole for $ 195. Probably I would go with Robin as the soundstage has significant differences. Well, your reviews are so fine to watch, and based on that I bought Shanling UA4 and it is doing great for me. Thanks.

      To clarify, Robin is as open and wide sounding for a true closed back, but it is still not as open sounding as open backed headphones like Sennheiser HD600 or AKG K701. It also depends a lot on the amp you attached it to, in this example, I hear wide open soundstage when paired with JDS Labs Atom DAC2 and Amp2, or at least with iBasso DC04Pro or FiiO BTR15, but will still sound closed-in when used on some sources like directly from my phone

    Thanks for the in-depth video bro. As always good work and much appreciate your take. How do these handle metal?
    I am an overall warm/slightly rolled off treble kinda listener.

    • @donglemadness
      @donglemadness  4 месяца назад +1

      My pleasure bro. Robin is rest assured to be highly suitable even for raw Black Metal or highly technical Death Metal, the presence of Midbass and Subbass being well balanced means that you hear solid blast beat and dense stringed bass, the guitar riffs crisp but never edgy, the cymbals always smooth even when the attack is intense. Yes super suitable for Metal

  • @hartyewh1
    @hartyewh1 4 месяца назад

    These are better than I expected. Say a third of the price goes to the looks and build so if you're happy to pay for that then a solid choice. Bass is a bit mushy, but with EQ I'm sure they'd sound really decent for the price.

    I know one is an IEM and the other a headphone, but how does the sound signature of Robin compare to Nightingale? And have you ever heard Audioquest Nighthawks or Nightowl, Andy? Wondering how Robin compares to those, as well. Thanks for another great review!

    • @donglemadness
      @donglemadness  4 месяца назад

      No worries. Robin is more colored and a lot more Bassy compared to the Mids centric Nightingale. Nightingale, being a magnetic planar, is also faster with dynamic transients, which means the attack is more solid with resolved imaging. Nightingale also offer more extensions on both end of the frequencies meaning you can hear more micro details especially for Treble decays, But both shares the same DNA of being on the "warmer" side of sound spectrum, smooth and immersive. I haven't tried Nighthawks or Nightowl unfortunately

      I am interested in Nighthawk comparison as well, I am assuming it will not be so dark

    Are the senheisser HD560s still better if yes then how would you rate these against the HD599 for that matter as these lie in between those two price wise. Ps: very detailed review btw really enjoyed

    • @donglemadness
      @donglemadness  4 месяца назад

      I would not know for sure because I haven't tried HD560s or HD599, I only know the older HD580, and if memory serves me right, HD580 is even warmer and similarly rolled-off with upper frequency to this Robin, which means both offers smooth decays

    Hi I would have question about those T40RP mkIII. Do they isolate better than sivga robin? Could you compare those 2 in this aspect? Also are T40RP picky for pad rolling? Sound and isolation.

    • @donglemadness
      @donglemadness  Месяц назад

      No, T series does not isolate well at all, SIVGA Robin seals much better. T40RP MK3 will sound better with Beyerdynamic DT series pads
