    Thank you for the great review Andy! The KL City backdrop adds a nice touch to the video! We also found great experience using the N3 Ultra as a desktop dac and lineout to a standalone headphone amp. Perhaps you can give it a try too :)

    Your work rate is crazy. Videos every day or every other day. And they are not even the plain talk in front of a desk type of videos. Digging the scene-change. Keeps the video interesting.

      Thanks! that's the plan. For as long as I have audio gear to play with the video will keep rolling and I enjoy every moment of it. It's fun to move around while doing it

    I just got this delivered today. I am thoroughly impressed. I don't know the intricacies of what makes it sound so good but is nothing like listening through my amp and PC. I can hear instruments so much more clearly and separated from each other now. I didn't change any EQ settings, I just switched to the tubes for timbre. I love the richness. I am only playing music at a volume level of 20 with the MP145. I tried it with the Tanchjim 4U in atmospheric mode too. The MP145 does seem to have a nicer sound stage. This DAP is so enjoyable I may never want to listen from PC/amp configuration again. lol

    Andy... A small request.. Please add a column for both of your list to have the average price in the market... Don't rate the price or add overall price to performance ratings like that... Just a Column for us to judge based on our budget.

    Just compared between this, hiby r4 and iBasso dx180, 180 is the best no matter in sound quality or functionality

    N3 Ultra left me with very mixed thoughts at best. All JAN6418 devices I've heard so far had characteristic tube timbre and subbass rolloff, but not the N3 Ultra where it is only volume jump between different modes. Also all of them were very sensitive to tube flutter which I could not hear no matter how hard I shaked and knocked on it.
    At this point to me tubes in n3ultra are nothing but a decor element with LED backlight. Even if they are properly integrated in the circuit they did not deliver what I expected.

    • @teeteetuu94
      @teeteetuu94 3 месяца назад +2

      So you're saying you prefer to have tube flutter, even after Cayin's design effort to dampen them?

    • @Ksn228
      @Ksn228 3 месяца назад

      @@teeteetuu94 Yes, in this way I know that the tubes are actively working. Also knowing how sensitive they are I have my doubts that it is possible to build a damping system that efficient in such a small package.

    I have just auditioned for the ultra, but compared to my old N3Pro, the sound signature is not much different compared to the pro to justify the price increase! The tube light indicator of the old is fake , don't know about the Ultra

    Is DT 770 Pro 250ohm Beyerdynamic compatible with this device? or better 80ohms or 32ohms?

    • @donglemadness
      @donglemadness  2 месяца назад +1

      Absolutely. The bright-ish nature of DT770 regardless 250 Ohm or 32 Ohm, they all will synergize great with N3 Ultra, you gonna get something really smooth. Best to run them from the 4.4mm BAL side and Classic Tube mode, all in High Gain

    ak4493eq vs ak4493s - which is better?

    • @donglemadness
      @donglemadness  3 месяца назад +1

      Depends on the tuning and implementation. What AK4493S does more than AK4490EQ is that the S offer higher resolution to DSD512 and 768Khz, otherwise they are practically the same thing

    I am having a problem pulling the trigger on a DAP. I see it for my perspective you carry your phone with you everywhere so you can get messages this then the other I'd listen to my music off my phone you know via a DAC or whatever. If I had a dap as well that's another brick that I'm carrying around with me just to listen to music I just I'm having a hard time pulling that trigger...... Is that rockabilly or punk abilly? that the ladies are playing??
