This game was Wolfenstein 3D on steroids. It had interactive NPCs, tokens that could be used on food machines for health, floors you could return to, etc. Man, what an awesome game!
I only had the shareware version like in this video, but played it several times. Also the sound effects when you collect pickups or a weapon were and still are hilarious.
@gokito2000 are you running it under Dosbox? if so then either check to see if the game's set up/configured properly or play around with your soundblaster settings in your Dosbox config
This game was severely undervalued at the time. It was overshadowed by other, bigger, more attractive looking releases like Doom II. Games like this, Rise of the Triad, and System Shock didn't get the recognition they deserved even though they had more innovative gameplay. Kind of like those damn Call of Duty games overshadowing everything else now...
Aah, this game was so good. Even though Doom seemed to overshadow everything at the time, this had so much personality and character. I also love how I'm watching a 720p video of a 320p game. haha
This game is the shit. Used to play the hell out of it on an old Packard Bell computer back in the early 90's :) And yeah, the music and sound effects was pretty awesome!
hmmmm, i'm usually am pretty good reading the descriptions, before i make make a comment, but i guess not that time, thanks for pointing that out to me, cheers
I loved this game so much. I would give anything for them to release the source so it could get a sourceport, once you go wasd with dedicated strafe keys, it's impossible to go back.
Required about 605k conventional memory if I recall correctly.. which was pretty much hell as I needed EXTDISK.SYS loaded to get to my files..... But very nice game, as usual from Apogee.
Classic game. I always preferred Wolfenstein 3D really, but this did get a fair share of gameplay... until I got my hands on DOOM. One thing that always made me laugh was the over-dramatic death cries of Informants compared to their hostile counterparts.
@eyeswideopen82 It was literally a few months before DOOM was released. Given all the industry attention that DOOM had been receiving, it was inevitable that Blake was going to suffer, and hard. I did enjoy Blake, but it just didn't compare in the long run. Next to the various dynamics DOOM featured (not least the variations in floor/ceiling heights), Blake to me eventually felt like what it was; Wolfenstein 3D with jazzy extras. Not a bad thing by any means, but just not enough to compete.
@speedsociety dude, i know that, ive finished both wolfenstein 3d and spear of destiny... few times. im just wondering why noone cared to make it look less wolfenstein-like, but i guess this game was great as for those times ;)
A game that was better than Doom but relatively failed due to rabid consumerism (what, you guys think that’s a new thing with Apple products?). This game was better in almost every single way to Doom...sad. I would have preferred this story be over-developed like what Doom is, today. Anyone remember the comic that came with the game? Good times.
This game rocked , I loved the enemies and guns. .Love that music too.
Bringing back some serious memories! Great stuff man!

holly shit man, just got teleported to my childhood!! thanks for the memories :)
Gotta love the epic sound of gold collecting. ( :
"Only Guards should have Weapons! You're a Bad man!" hahaha. I really like this game
This would make an awesome movie
right in the description "It uses an enhanced version of the Wolfenstein 3D engine."
Awesome game, good video. I've re-recorded Episode 1 lately and will upload it tomorrow in 60fps 1080p HD!
I used to search the hell out of a level for secret passages.
Ahhh, so many good memories.

Wow, this really does bring back memories.
I love everything about this game, even down to the really loud obnoxious pick up noises for everything.

Excellent game. Must have been 9 or 10 playing it. Now that I'm 30 I still enjoy @_@

GOG.com! Both Blake Stone games are on sale this weekend.
This brings some memories. Except I only had pc speaker.
Ah, Apogee...so FTW!
Lovely sounds :)
these deaths are so wolfenstein-like

Never had the chance to play the full game. :(
wow man
i remember playing this game when i was 6 or 7..
i fucking enjoyed it

Nostalgia...
The second part of the video is the demo
Cool games ❗❕❗💞💕💓❤️💖😍🥰💕💓💞💕🖥️💻🎮👍
i love this game!
Which dosbox version did you used?
Because it runs slow on dosbox 0.74
@TAz69x Blake Stone and Duke Nukem are not id software games. They are Apogee games.
The Aliens scream just like in X-com ha ha
What are you playing this with? I tried dosbox but it ran as fast as Lt. Dan.
GUARDS - UNGH!
@speedsociety dude, i know that, ive finished both wolfenstein 3d and spear of destiny... few times. im just wondering why noone cared to make it look less wolfenstein-like, but i guess this game was great as for those times ;)
Nice, played al the floors to 100 %
And in race mode i could play all the floors in 18 min something.
i enjoyed this more than Doom
@eyeswideopen82
Unless of course, it was an informant. Those guys would really let you know when you'd killed the wrong man; "UURRRRRRRRRGH!"
Forget the last comment, I used more cycles and works.
Medic!
Guards!
uber nice game!
Way better than Wolfenstein 3D (:
DOOR!
